Great reaction. "Haunting" is exactly the right word. Brian was haunted by the fact that he couldn't bring himself to speak with the girl he silently loved. Nobody could do this song, other than Queen. The performance was not just legendary, it was perfection - each and every player's role was done to perfection. What makes this so incredible is the power and the passion. You can actually feel it, it actually grabs you and makes you feel it deep inside. I believe this in Brian's best song and the band gave it supreme justice on this night!!!

Ethereal and haunting - a true masterpiece. The by-play of Freddie's piano and Brian's guitar - speaking in a language at a level so very few of us can achieve, yet all of us can feel within ourselves when we hear it, and thus know it. And, by the way - of all the traits and aspects that cause us to love Queen so unconditionally is that they were the masters of variation. Different style, beat, mood, tempo, effects - every song takes us in a different direction, and we embrace them all!

Freddie was dressed as the mythical god 'Mercury' who was the messenger of gods, hence the wings at the bottom of his trousers' sleeves and vest's sleeves. A little piece of advice for you: if asked about a 'live' reaction, please, react to the studio version because this is what the band wanted you to hear first. Especially that Queen tend not to recreate note by note of what's on the album. It'll help you understand any song better ;) This song is from 'Queen II' album - one of their most inspirational and innovative albums. Songs on it mostly relate to mythical & fairytale-like events. Queen is as close to the metal genre as you can get XD

White Queen (As It Began)"Edit Written by May in 1968, this song features contrasting acoustic and heavy metal sections. May explained that he conceived the idea for this song while reading The White Goddess by Robert Graves. The song also had personal significance for May; he drew inspiration from a fellow student whom he revered and thought represented the idea of the "perfect woman".[6] In a later interview he said, "I remember being totally in love with this girl from biology, and I never ever talked to her...I [was] dared to ask out this girl, and she became a lifelong friend, it's very strange...".[13] The song features May playing his Hairfred acoustic guitar. The guitar had been given a replacement hardwood bridge, chiselled flat, with a small piece of fret wire placed between it and the strings, which lay gently above. The strings produce the buzzing effect of a sitar.[14]
@hibuy1005 жыл бұрын

This song is hauntingly beautiful because it's sad, this man has deep feelings for a woman and doesn't have the courage to walk up and tell her so, he sadly, watches her from afar. It's a song based on a true story that happened to Brian May, the lead guitarist, while in college. Brian wrote it and Freddie Mercury brought it to life in a unique sound and feeling. The ones I find underestimated are Lily of The Valley and Nevermore. Two gems from the early days. Others I think are not known and are goodies are: Good old fashioned lover boy, You and I ( those two are similar) Melancholy Blues, Who needs you, Jealousy, In only seven days, Save me, Calling all girls, Keep passing the open windows, It’s a hard life, Teo Torriate Try those.😉 they are incredibly versatile musicians whereas changing musical styles throughout the years many times while keeping the rock and roll feel and remaining incredibly unique with that particular signature sound we instantly know it’s them. White Queen is of the most underestimated songs. It has their early days feel resembling Who wants to live forever, both composed by Brian May. Try the live at the rainbow version. Freddie’s voice is even sharpier and softer. I personally prefer that with the piano. I also enjoy a lot their recordings from bbc sessions from those onyrical fairytale days. Let’s remember they made that good quality music with almost no technological paraphernalia and virtually no money in the beginning. But the talent and pure identity was always there. They’re genius. In my opinion they are accomplished musicians because their sound is good quality but most of all is because their songs reflect a very optimistic feeling attached to them despite some sad or angry songs that are nevertheless still thrilling and charismatic. They vibrate positivety excitement and union. The Beatles are also a similar energy of simplicity and quality. Freddie’s voice is exceptional in every sense.

One if the best things about Queen is the sheer diversity of their back catalog. They've touched and slayed- almost every genre under the sun. My recommendations would depend on your taste largely. For instance Sleeping On The Sidewalk (Brian wrote and sung) and My Melancholy Blues (Freddie) are both, well, blues tracks. If you're into the really heavy stuff I'd recommend Stone Cold Crazy and Death On Two Legs. Seaside Rendezvous and Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon are both 1930s style fun jingles. For John Deacon's cowboy style obsession, listen to Spread Your Wings and You and I. If you want to dip your toe into Queen's rather unfairly infamous disco years, go for Cool Cat and Back Chat. The Millionaire Waltz is, as you probably guess, a sort of modern day waltz, though it has Freddie's signature Bohemian Rhapsody style tempo change ups. But if you really want to hear Bohemian Rhapsody's older sibling, go for the March of The Black Queen. For some extremely short but oh so sweet classical tunes, listen to Nevermore and Lily Of The Valley, though the later is the final part of a seamless medley with Roger sung track Tenement Funster and another hard track, Flick Of The Wrist and they really should be listened together. Some nice ballads are The Night Comes Down and Jealously for the earlier years and One Year Of Love and Don't Try So Hard for the later. I go on with more categories, but I suppose this is more than enough to start off on. Sorry not sorry if I got carried away ;)

You could do "In The Lap Of The Gods... revisited" by Queen next, it's from the 1974 album Sheer Heart Attack. It's a short song, so you could do the studio lyrics video, and a live version, maybe Wembley 1986. It starts mellow, but ends in a catchy singalong tune. In earlier times, before We Are The Champions, they often ended their shows with this one. links: studio lyrics video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5a7lIOQeJWAgM0 live at Wembley 1986: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l37LgqyriMSfj6M
