When this was recorded, he was close to dying from aids. They had to do a lot of makeup on him to look normal. The documentary on it was heartbreaking

That was actually These Are The Days Of Our Lives not long before Freddie died. It's why they filmed it in black and white, because colour (as seen in the documentary you mentioned) showed just how ill he was. This video was filmed in 1986. Freddie wasn't diagnosed until 1987.

An epic song made for the movie Highlander, both might let us think about the dilemma of infinite live especially when those we love are mortals, we humans already lose loved ones in our sometimes relatively short lifespan, like family members, partners or good friends, and that makes us already suffer, sometimes to a point where some ppl might break and follow those we lost without waiting longer until our time comes, i am not sure if I could stand that forever, like falling in love again, just to see your beloved partner getting old and dying, finding a new one just to see that happen again and again. Then such a "gift" might start to feel more like a curse.
