Maybe so, but I have never understood the line "touch my wart with your fingertips". I have often thought that someone as bright as Brian May might have realised that this gambit might harm the song's intended effect. @@barbsaracini7866They do get mixed up sometimes, it's an easy mistake to make. Easy way to distinguish them is size. Cellos are played from a sitting position, double bass from standing because they're huge! I think using a bow throws people too as you more often see a double bass played by string plucking. Apparently plucking is used for rock and blues whereas the bow is more common in orchestral settings. Crazy amount of commitment these guys had for their music though. The day Freddie died it was basically announced worldwide by playing this song. I had just casually switched on the radio and fell into the intro of this song (my memory tells me it was at the end of the afternoon but I might be wrong) and immediately thought “hmmm… that is an odd choice for a Queen song to play” and felt immediately it must be because someone had passed away. Remember, it was never confirmed that he was sick but around the release of the Innuendo album it was clear to anyone that he wasn’t well. But the news he had passed away still came as a shock.

Actually he announced his diagnosis the day before he died. I was 13 at the time and my mother was a huge fan of Queen, and especially Freddie, so I grew up with their music. Back in those days AIDS was pretty much still a death sentence so the news was shocking. And then to hear he passed away the day after that... It was shock upon shock. They're still to this day one of my favorite rock bands of all time and Freddie the best and most versatile male singer I've ever heard. Every single time I hear this song it brings me to tears, thinking of the people I've lost. @sharonhalliday31803 жыл бұрын
There are 6 songs written for the Highlander movie. Freddie wrote Princes of the Universe Roger was inspired by one line and wrote A Kind of Magic, sung beautifully 1986 at Wembley for their tour of the same name, John wrote a beautiful love song: One Year of Love, and Brian wrote a piece for the villan of the movie called Gimme the Prize which Freddie said was very difficult for him to sing in this dark heavy register. Roger finished it up with Don't Lose Your Head referring to the immortals who battle each other as there can be only one, and the only way to destroy an immortal is by decapitation. A rather brutal film and a tv series followed, but the music is excellent and so are the videos that accompany each song

Also if I may to get more context on how this affected us personally and it was because this is the soundtrack to a sad love and warrior film called Highlander it’s an immortal man living in our world he cannot die unless in combat with the few other immortals where his or the opponents head rolls from the neck. So he never ages he loved her…! You get why it’s fire when you see the love lost I am crying 38 year old Man. You can see in the comments of those talking about their loved ones. It is this song for every man who truly meant loving a person. So you see the question is who would want to live forever cos you’ll be very lonely one day and love less! 😢

And yes, John Deacon was playing the stand-up bass in the red jacket just to the right of Brian singing. Wouldn't be Queen without them all being there... Yes, Queen's fan-base is world-wide and 50 years + and growing because they weren't just singers in a band, I truly believe Freddie had "the gift of music", he WAS music, and he taught the other members to be the same. That's why their music is so timeless, they invoke every emotion imaginable out of you as you listen and ACTUALLY FEEL the music... priceless!! John is playing the double bass, he has the red jacket. Just a fun fact: he learned to play that instrument when Brian told him that he wanted the sound of a double bass in his new song called '39, so John went home with the instrument and he learned to play it in two days, then he came to the studio and showed him his part. Because of that, I recommend that song, '39 from "A Night At The Opera" album by 1975.

The Masterpiece that will fry your minds is "Barcelona" with Montserrat Caballe - one of the greatest Opera Singers of all time. You must watch the video/stage performance they did. She was excited that the Olympics were in her beloved country and when Freddie created the song celebrating her home town - she accepted to sing with him. What many people do not know - is he wrote an entire album for her entitled "Barcelona" and it is magnificent Queen/Opera. Every member of Queen were brilliant in their right (John was on the cello in that video - all collaborated on their work and talking of films John also wrote the music for "Biggles" and the song "One Vision" came from Iron Eagle). Hit after hit - different styles and looks - they never grew old. All could sing (Roger had a great voice!) A plea from the UK - please react to Barcelona - I want to see your reactions - you will be truly amazed : )

I can't stop watching this video. Nick's reaction just kills me. He is so adorable! He is clearly touched by the music and the performance. He shows a real appreciation for everything that's happening from Freddie.... to the organ that hits him "straight in the soul". When he shakes his head and says "Get out of here", it makes me laugh everytime and yet he expresses what we are all feeling. The Queen video is overwhelmingly beautiful, but Nick's reaction is priceless. Well done!

I know and love this song since I was a teenager, but when my father, mother, older brother, sister and friends passed away one by one in the past few years, this song really touches my emotions.

Science has officially confirmed what fans already knew about FREDDIE'S VOICE : he had an unequivocally great singing voice. Classical opera singer has a vibrato in the range of 5,4 -6,9 Hz, but Mercury's vibrato moved at whopping 7,04 Hz Read the full story ( published in Logopedicks Phoniatrics Vocology ) you'll find in this article a lot of other interesting info about his voice. btw Freddie had 4 octave range react to Fat bottomed girls at Milton Keynes Bowl 82

I have about 50 Queen songs in my Top 10, but this song is always in my Top 3. Usually the other two are Love of My Life and the live version of White Queen at Hammersmith. You could have fun with Fat Bottomed Girls, or Don’t Stop Me Now. Or go through the super hits, like We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions, Under Pressure, Another One Bites the Dust, or a MUST DO is the full Live Aid 20 minute set that is widely regarded as the best live rock performance in history. Welcome to the best rabbit hole on the planet!

The movie Highlander (1986) is one of my favourite movies, it stars French -American actor Christopher lambert as the main character, it also has Sean Connery, and Clancy Brown as the villian, a bit gory but certainly a film to watch, and with QUEENS soundtrack as they said it's a kind of magic. I I haven't heared this track for some time, but seeing Brian take the lead on vocals at first was so unusual, but when Freddie came in it gave me goosebumps, and with the orchestra it is epic, this is one of my all time favourite QUEEN songs, its a BANGER ! 🇬🇧👍

I think watching the official videos are great and I enjoy them but watching them live takes it to a completely different level. I've been listening to Queen since 1974 and you know what? Their music still gives me the chills, how fortunate I am to live in Freddie's lifetime. John Deacon was in this video he played the upright bass.

Totally agree, I too have loved Freddie and Queen for that long and saw them live in concert in 1975 and 1977. Unforgettable. ❤️Freddie❤️

@@chrissielord434 I was never lucky enough to see Freddie in person and honestly it's one of my biggest regrets. I finally did get to see Queen with Adam Lambert for my granddaughters birthday a few years ago and his performance would have made Freddie proud.

@@Melissa02891 I’m sorry you didn’t get to see the magnificence of Freddie’s performance, thank goodness we have videos 😊. Hmmm, I‘m afraid I am not a fan of Adam Lambert. He is over the top and he sounds quite unnatural, no depth. I’m glad he is enjoying himself but he’s not for me. I think people enjoy hearing the songs not necessarily AL’s voice 🤔 ❤️Freddie❤️

Imagine being in a choir and singing with Freddy Mercury and Queen. 40 years later I would still be finding reason to drop that into casual conversation. At the butchers, can I have lamb chops please and have I ever told you about the time I sang with FM. People would groan when they saw me coming, here is the batty old woman and her damn Queen story again! Such fun.

Omg that would be me too! I’ve thought about that kid they focus on in the video. I would have that clip cued up on my phone all the time! Or those four kids who did The Miracle video. They were so good!

John Deacon is there. He’s in the red tux playing the double bass. Now you have to react to this live. Most people go for the live in Montreal but I prefer the live in Budapest, Freddie sings it with so much passion.

Great reaction! Especially love that you appreciate Freddie’s incomparable voice!! Please consider “Time” ( the vocal and piano only version) and “In My Defense” both by Freddie for the musical Time in 1986; Barcelona, How Can I Go On, The Golden Boy - all duets with Montserrat Caballe. For more Queen…. Another One Bites The Dust official video, Save Me live Montreal, Love of My Life live Montreal or Wembley, Tie Your Mother Down live Montreal and of course LIVE AID!!!

As a longtime fan, I had the pleasure of seeing Queen live in 82. Brilliant. As for songs for reaction? - Innuendo - The Prophet's Song(studio) - Freddie Mercury solo "Time Waits for Nobody" - Staying Power - White Man - Freddie Mercury with Montserrat Caballet "How Can I Go On?" That should be enough jamming, shivers, and tears for now...
