Maybe so, but I have never understood the line "touch my wart with your fingertips". I have often thought that someone as bright as Brian May might have realised that this gambit might harm the song's intended effect. I mean, I get that touching your loved one's wart with your fingertips might convey a sense of genuine intimacy in terms of an epic love song...but no. Just no. No one likes warts. (Or have I made a mistake?)

I second that (Show Must Go On) - devastating vocals - important to hear it knowing the context of how it was written (mainly by Brian May) - during Freddie's illlness, the band knowing what was going to happen, Freddie knowing . . . it's an allegory for both the band and the life we all fight to live. Life is the show that must go on. And it can be a wicked pain in the ass. These guys asked for a list - Queen's catalogue is massive. Of the better-known songs I'd say Under Pressure (that's a co-write with David Bowie, live or studio both excel) and Innuendo (no live performance for obvious reasons), both songs as timely now as they were then. More timely and relevant, if anything. If they haven't done those already. I'd love to see someone react to Sheer Heart Attack 1979 Hammersmith Odeon. No one ever does that one. Best excursion into Queen madness ever. If you have high blood pressure already Do Not Watch 😁. It's wonderful. Melancholy Blues, March of the Black Queen . . . MotBQ could never be performed live except using small snippets - that was all pre-autotune pre-computer, tape overdubs till the tapes ran clear. The studio craftsmanship precursor to Bohemian Rhapsody.

There are 6 songs written for the Highlander movie. Freddie wrote Princes of the Universe Roger was inspired by one line and wrote A Kind of Magic, sung beautifully 1986 at Wembley for their tour of the same name, John wrote a beautiful love song: One Year of Love, and Brian wrote a piece for the villan of the movie called Gimme the Prize which Freddie said was very difficult for him to sing in this dark heavy register. Roger finished it up with Don't Lose Your Head referring to the immortals who battle each other as there can be only one, and the only way to destroy an immortal is by decapitation. A rather brutal film and a tv series followed, but the music is excellent and so are the videos that accompany each song

@@Londoneye57 Yes, but the relationship was on a much more equitable level with Queen vs the Beatles more unequal partnership. George Harrison had so little input against Lennon/McCartney's songwriting duo that he had a whole double album worth of material when the Beatles broke up. That album "All Things Must Pass" became the best selling of any of their solo works to date (or at least it was when I looked it up a decade ago) - I don't think that is a coincidence.

Classical opera singer has a vibrato in the range of 5,4 -6,9 Hz, but Mercury's vibrato moved at whopping 7,04 Hz Read the full story ( published in Logopedicks Phoniatrics Vocology ) you'll find in this article a lot of other interesting info about his voice. btw Freddie had 4 octave range react to Fat bottomed girls at Milton Keynes Bowl 82

John is playing the double bass, he has the red jacket. Just a fun fact: he learned to play that instrument when Brian told him that he wanted the sound of a double bass in his new song called '39, so John went home with the instrument and he learned to play it in two days, then he came to the studio and showed him his part. Because of that, I recommend that song, '39 from "A Night At The Opera" album by 1975.

Hey guys... so glad to see you appreciating the awesomeness of Queen. For an even better version, try the live in Wembley '86 concert... it has the actual ending to the song {unforgettable).... And just for kicks, another powerful Freddie performance would be Barcelona off the Barcelona album...(or any song off that album). And yes, John Deacon was playing the stand-up bass in the red jacket just to the right of Brian singing. Wouldn't be Queen without them all being there... Yes, Queen's fan-base is world-wide and 50 years + and growing because they weren't just singers in a band, I truly believe Freddie had "the gift of music", he WAS music, and he taught the other members to be the same. That's why their music is so timeless, they invoke every emotion imaginable out of you as you listen and ACTUALLY FEEL the music... priceless!! Very few groups can say that... thanks for a great reaction! And thank you all for keeping the Queen legacy alive... I'm so thankful to have lived and grown up in the age of Queen...

As for songs for reaction? - Innuendo - The Prophet's Song(studio) - Freddie Mercury solo "Time Waits for Nobody" - Staying Power - White Man - Freddie Mercury with Montserrat Caballet "How Can I Go On?" That should be enough jamming, shivers, and tears for now...

The Masterpiece that will fry your minds is "Barcelona" with Montserrat Caballe - one of the greatest Opera Singers of all time. You must watch the video/stage performance they did. She was excited that the Olympics were in her beloved country and when Freddie created the song celebrating her home town - she accepted to sing with him. What many people do not know - is he wrote an entire album for her entitled "Barcelona" and it is magnificent Queen/Opera. Every member of Queen were brilliant in their right (John was on the cello in that video - all collaborated on their work and talking of films John also wrote the music for "Biggles" and the song "One Vision" came from Iron Eagle). Hit after hit - different styles and looks - they never grew old. All could sing (Roger had a great voice!) A plea from the UK - please react to Barcelona - I want to see your reactions - you will be truly amazed : )

The day Freddie died it was basically announced worldwide by playing this song. I had just casually switched on the radio and fell into the intro of this song (my memory tells me it was at the end of the afternoon but I might be wrong) and immediately thought “hmmm… that is an odd choice for a Queen song to play” and felt immediately it must be because someone had passed away. Remember, it was never confirmed that he was sick but around the release of the Innuendo album it was clear to anyone that he wasn’t well. But the news he had passed away still came as a shock.

In the Lap of the Gods is also a stunning lesser known song. The Live at the Rainbow version is what I would recommend, then they changed the song a bit and also pretty much any live performance of the revisited version is also great.

White Queen live at Hammersmith and Innuendo in the studio version (Freddie never had the chance to sing it live). The first is from early 70's Queen, and Innuendo is from the 14th album in '91. Both will blow you away.

He had one of the most amazing voices, he left us far too soon. Great to see you react to this song. I do think there might even a better live performance than this one was if you can believe that. Someone out there must know which one I am thinking of. Great reactions!

This is such a powerful performance of this outstanding song, I absolutely love it! Thank you for an excellent reaction. Queen has over 200 songs in their catalog and perhaps only a couple of them that are not total bangers. In the video, John Deacon is on the white, upright bass.

One of the most extraordinary things about Freddie's voice is not the notes he can hit or the unique sound (although those elements are incredible), it's the way he creates this soaring feeling. Plenty of artists can hit the notes, plenty have a unique voice but few of them can make you feel like your heart is flying through the clouds. Freddy really was one of those people who comes along once in fifty years and stamps their mark on history.

I love hearing reactions to Queen, and of course, Freddie Mercury. So many years ago I was just a young kid, waiting for each Queen single and album to be released. And with the great film The Highlander came this song, and the soundtrack by Queen. This song elevated that film beyond expectation and was hailed as one of the best. Freddie was a firefly that burned out, far, far too soon. He was here on this planet for each of us and I love seeing how ge affects you guys and others because this old soul still lives in the days in the record store. You guys are cool younger men and I sure appreciate your willingness to just tryly put your feelings out there and am so glad that Freddie and Queen's music belongs to you, too and that ot all happened in oir time. Thanks, guys.

So many to choose from but this has to be one of my favourites. Perhaps even my favourite. It always makes me feel emotional no matter how many times I hear it. Sigh wish Freddie had not been taken from us so soon. I think how much more could he have done. Also I love Brian May in this song. Beautiful.

You need to watch Freddie, solo, in "Time Waits for No one". Sung in 1986 for a musical by Dave Clark, the demo was lost for years. Dave Clark found it in 2014 and hunted the original 35 mm film used for a video at the time and matched it up with Freddie's video and released it in 2019. It's like a brand new song by Freddie! And Freddie tops his performance in Who Wants to Live Forever!

i would recommend some queen-songs for every genre they‘ve covered: hardrock: „it‘s late“, „white man“, „gimme the prize“, „tear it up“ „fight from the inside“ where the drummer sings or „was it all worth it“; pre-metal: „stone cold crazy“, „ogre battle“; progressive rock: „the prophet‘s song“, „brighton rock“, „the march of the black queen“; classic rock: „the show must go on“; pop-rock: „the invisible man“, „the miracle“, „radio gaga“; latin american bossa nova: „who needs you“; blues: „see what a fool i‘ve been“, „sleeping on the sidewalk“; folk: „´39“; funk, disco: „under pressure“, „another one bites the dust“, „back chat“, „cool cat“, „dancer“; rock ´nˋ roll: „crazy little thing called love“; gospel: „somebody to love“, „all god’s people“, „let me live“; vaudeville: „killer queen“, „bring back that leroy brown“, „lazing on a sunday afternoon“, „seaside rendezvous“; flamenco: partly in „innuendo“; waltz: „millionaire waltz“; ambient: „track 13“; arabic influenced rock: „mustapha“; some japanese: „teo toriatte“; and the list would go on and on and i don‘t know where to stop😅. there‘s some other greats as well like the song which deals with the dead pet-cat of brian may‘s childhood „all dead, all dead“ which is also cheering or one quite fine rhytm with the queen-song „more of that jazz“ or „dead on time“ or the song where they‘ve sort of bullied their former manager who betrayed them „death on two legs“. sorry, i know i have to stop now before i go on.......infinite i tell you. they‘ve got so many excellent songs which never got really famous like „get down, make love“😜...shhh.....stop it.....

If you want to get into Queen I would just start with the first album titled Queen and work your way though. Liar is my favorite song from the first album and hearing it at the Rainbow in 1974 cant be beat. But the official video with the studio version is pretty good too. Keep Yourself Alive is the first single they ever released in 1973 off that album. The offical video of the studio version is pretty good. Queen II is there second album. Which really needs to be heard from start to finish because it kinda like a concept album and a lot of the songs flow together. Then Sheer Heart Attack is there third album and every song on that album is different. I could keep going but im tired

If you liked this, listen to Freddie’s duets with Montserrat Caballe. Fantastic vocals. Also Queen’s White Queen is amazing. Also Exercises in Free Love. And impromptu vocalization from Rock in Rio Concert. Queen can do it all. One of my favorites is Dragon Attack from the 1981 Montreal concert, funky good. I also like Cool Cat different vibe. How about Stone Cold Crazy…just blew my mind. So versatile!

The song was made for the movie “Highlander” about an immortal who loses the love of his life yet still chooses to go on and do great things. Good movie. Immortality is shown to be a curse, with loss/death giving meaning to every moment we have. Brian May captured the power of that idea in this song.

Deaky on the white double bass in front. Freddie asked John if he could play the double bass. He came in the next day and played it. He is using a bow which is a skill in itself. There are no frets on double bass. There are no limits to this band's talent.

You asked for a list, so here's some of my favorites: " Now I'm Here" live at Wembley Stadium 1986; "It's a Kind of Magic" also live at Wembley 1986; "Dragon Attack" live at Montreal 1981. Studio version of "Under Pressure" Queen and David Bowie (Classic Queen mix); "Killer Queen" promo clip/ performance on Top of the Pops 1975 (I think). "Rock and Roll Medley" about 1976 or 77. The list could go on and on.
