I think the thing I like the most is how ethnically diverse it is. I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for about 4 years and it was similar in that way. Flushing isn't the very far eastern part of Queens. It's slightly eastern but its fairly centrally located in northern Queens. Far Eastern Queens is where the Farm Museum, National Art League, and the Alley Pond Nature Center are located. Also Sunnyside doesn't have much Greek influence.

That's where Kennedy International Airport is, Jamaica, Queens which includes sections like South Jamaica, Springfield Gardens, Rosedale, Laurelton, Cambria Heights, Hollis, South Ozone Park, Saint Albans and Southwest Queens which includes Richmond Hill, Ridgewood, Woodhaven ect. If you enjoy Buddhist temples, there’s one upstate in Carmel (not too far, about an hour away) called the Chuang Yen Monastery right off the Hudson River. Not only that but the 7 Train does not go to the far east of Queens. In terms of the subway the most east station is Jamaica-179st on the F train line, but u are rlly tryna go east LIRR is the way to go. Also Queens is safe only in certain areas. In general, North and central Queens are pretty avg with neighborhoods such as Jamaica Estates or Fresh Meadows with a bit higher than avg safety. South Queens( in general south of Hillside Ave) is where the shady shit goes down. There are high rates of violent crimes and robbery especially in the south Jamaica/St. Albans area near the projects.
