Also, Catherine of Aragon's mother, Isabella of Castille, a real warrior figure. While she didn't fight with a sword, she did form strategies and battle tactics, effectively leading her generals. Pretty impressive for a female in the middle ages. She and COA's father, Ferdinand, also formed the brutal Spanish Inquisition, so that was pretty horrendous. She's a mixture of good and evil, IMO.

I also saw Peter O Toole playing Henry II in the film about Henry killing Thomas Beckett ( played by richard burton ). ...I had no idea Eleanor got out of prison after Henry s death and continued her career, the film only shows their dialogue while he was still alive

i think Anne made a huge contribution to England by introducing a bloodline that is a bit outside the constant remarrying of close cousins... i attribute a lot of Elizabeth s good qualities from less inbreeding than other monarchs...Elizabeth was a great ruler, very prudent and well educated, a reasonable person who did act for her people, instead of just using her country as a source of supplies to fund wars. The Boleyn family is actually an ancient lineage going way back, older than a lot of nobility, but more outside the circuit of royal cousins constantly inbreeding. if Anne was actually related to Henry VIII, it would have been quite distant.... unlike jane seymour, catherine of aragon and catherine parr who were all fairly close cousins of Henry. I believe Anne actually had to work, as lady in waiting, and her family was not that wealthy. Also, the Tudors, Henry VII Tudor being Elizabeth's grandfather , were basically welsh nobodies, Owen Tudor being stable staff who married Henry's grandmother, dowager queen Catherine. I think mixing it up , the dna, once again , not marrying your cousin is one of the reasons for the success and fame of the Tudors. Also, Margaret Beaufort, great grandmother of Elizabeth I was descended from former bastard children of a prince and his kids governess . all good, a bit of impoverished or commoner dna.

I love Anne Boleyn! She is to be admired for her courage and bravery having no friends at court, helping the Bible be available on English, the Universities, and facing down enemies even while facing her own death. She waited 7 years.. all the while being called a homewrecker snd harlot… while Jane Seymour took Henry away while he was married to Anne.. and no one EVER called HER concubine, homewrecker, etc…. Such HYPOCRISY. I hate Jane Seymour. Im glad she never got a coronation, she did NOT deserve it. Anne’s coronation was rightly deserved fir putting up with stress and abuse for 7 years. Her taste snd style can still be appreciated at Hampton Court. She was bright, sophisticated, charismatic charitable… a women self-made.. no silver spoon like Catherine… She is one of a kind…. And how wonderful that Elizabeth I wore a pic of her Mother. ❤️❤️

Boudicca was a great woman who challenged Rome and nearly won. Her rebellion panicked Nero who sought to evacuate Britain. It was the steely resolve of Suetonius Paulinus which saved the day. After the victory by the Romans, the Iceni people were ruthlessly purged and their way of life dismantled. The Druids,(the glue which held the Iceni people together-according to Tacitus) were discouraged from carrying out their rites or mystical duties. By choosing death on her own terms,(poison),rather than capture and death at the hands of the Roman occupiers, Boudicca became a martyr and an icon of resistance.

Have covered the Kings & Queen Consorts from William 1 to Edward VI & it is understandable to see why the French, Scots, Irish & Arabs dislike us English so much. We have been disgustingly obnoxious in how we have treated others! Just look at the current government!😅

Oh ye because the French are completely innocent and didn't colonise parts of Africa and north America. The Arabs didn't have a slave trade with west Africans for 1400 years and the Arab caliphates didn't conquer mesopotamia Syria Egypt then north Africa and parts of Iberia. No none of that ever happened.

Most of these are Queen Consorts, which just means married to a King. Matilda (disputed) Jane Grey (disputed) Mary I, Elizabeth I, Victoria and Elizabeth II are the only actual Queen Regnants

Enjoyable but I CRINGE every time there's a reference to 'feminine wiles' and that not having sex until marriage is somehow sneaky. Elizabeth Woodville using her charms to get favours for her family? You mean they had a good marriage and he wanted to help his in laws move up in the world?

I would be very surprised if you can trace your family tree to Boudicca as there were very few records kept by the ancient Britons and I don't think the Romans would have kept records of her descendants either
