I remember seeing them play this on Jules Holland back when it released thinking what a riff I’d love to play that… cheers for helping me impulsively do it 5 years later!😎

So, I watched them live last Friday and I can confirm, that the Double Six from Troy, the guitar of Dean and the guitar from Josh are in D tuning. Thank you again very much for this awesome lesson!!

I was surprised to find this was tuned down to D standard. I know a lot of the older material by QOTSA is tuned down to C#. This version definitely sounds much more spot on. Great job.

I’m just getting into QOTSA guitar playing and I gotta say, It’s really interesting with the tunings I’ve never tried, and chordings and mutings I’ve never fooled with.

If I were ever to put together another band, I would absolutely follow the QOTSA template. Up to 3 guitars (including lap steel) 3 keyboards, and 2 backup vocals! Almost unlimited options WITH the ability to recreate it all live! Hats off to Homme for putting together such a technically well thought out and multi talented lineup, without having to go into Pink Floyd territory with an almost ridiculous number of people to do it live.

This is terrific, going to try it at lunchtime today :)

It’s not a guitar doing an upper octave, Troy uses a 12 string

I’m pretty sure both is happening. The band structure is fantastic! The ability to have up to 3 guitars, 3 keyboards, 2 backup vocals, gives them almost unlimited options AND the ability to do it all live. Super well thought out, and multi talented lineup for sure.

Great vid. Also really found your Feet don't fail me now really useful to learn from. LOL - don't think anyone who doesn't know what tuning down a half step means will be ready to attempt this song.
