I saw the Bad Plus and Joshua Redman play this live at UCLA (May 2013). They dedicated the song to the legendary Charlie Haden, who was in the audience! It was beautiful, breathtaking, transcendant!

I had found a recording of one of their shows on a blogspot, burned it, was listening to this haunting song, when a friend texted me to say a mutual friend had died...I got to listening to it repeatedly over the next few days...month or so later met the riddim section of the Bad plus at Newport...told them the story,and said, "I hope you don't mind-not trying to lay a trip on you". Both of them were so gracious and genuinely moved by my sad tale:....will forever love them for that..
