Some bands can't come close to replicating their studio versions, but Queensryche belies that theory. One of the best rock bands, ever, with the incomparable Geoff Tate and his theatrical voice.

Idiotic haters claim that Geoff lost his voice 20 years ago, but this was 10 years ago and he sounded really good. Of course at 52 (his age in this performance) he doesn't have the same range and power behind every note at he did at 25 or even at 35, but he still is a master vocalist with incredible tone, dynamics, and control.

One of the best live performance I've heard in a while. Geoffs voice still kicks ass
@dh40944 жыл бұрын
This was 10 years ago, his voice has gone down quite a bit. Part of the reason they had tension was Geoff was losing creativity, and struggling to hit original vocal range on songs. Mix that with ego=new. younger singer that could hit every note, exhale of breath dead on!
@howardwalston81028 жыл бұрын
Fact is that Geoff has the carte de blanche and has established himself as one of the most gifted artistic singers of all time. He has nothing to prove and doesn't need to repeticiously sing each and every song 100% accurate time and time again just to avoid negative criticism. This is music which is a performance and not a test! Praise him for who he is and not what you expect him to be which is inhuman. Live music is abstract art and is more about expression than technical perfection imo
@2204JCM5 жыл бұрын
Or you could accept the fact that he can’t sing as good as he used to. The performance wasn’t a disaster -compared to lots of others. But you can tell he was changing the melody to avoid certain notes. That and he was “behind” on some of the phrases.

Being a rock vocalist myself, being on the road is a day to day thing when i comes to the voice. Some nights I amazed myself by how effortless it was, other nights couldn't hit anything. For the people who are bad mouthing Geoff Tate, my question is, how can you be a real fan of Queensryche and dislike this man so much. For 25+ years he was the voice of QR, he wrote the majority of the lyrics for the band. Isn't he with Chris DeGarmo the main reason QR had the success they did. I understand shit happens, things change, people want different things. Also, most lead singers are control freaks (lead singer disease) lot's of examples, Axl Rose, Scott Weiland, Steven Tyler, David Lee Roth, Sebastian Bach etc. I guess it's easy to develop an over inflated ego. I will always admire & respect Geoff Tate for everything he has done and the talent that he has, ♥ the voice, the music ♫.

***** Those 25 years would include Empire and Promised Land..... I guess if you've hated most of what they've done in those 25 years, maybe you're not a fan. Wouldn't make sense to be a fan of something you hate.

I’ll answer that. 1. All the crap music he force fed us under the QR name for so many years. 2. His horrible live performances. 3. His refusal to play deep cuts from the early records and openly bad mouthing metal as a genre of music. 4. Most importantly. - violence towards his band mates. Publicly spitting on Scott. His awful behavior towards audiences in 2012-13. His alcoholic, belligerent attitude.

I was a vocalist in a metal band out of Milwaukee for 13 years,and toured the Midwest. Some folks don't get it ! A singers instrument is with in us. Guitars,and drums are or whatever you play is just it ! You're playin' an instrument ! A vocalist is a physical presence,a voice. Not something you obtain at a music store. So all the bashers out there,jump on stage.and grab a mic ! Lets see what you got ! But I digress Tate is still outstanding ! When the magic is over,he moved on. Total respect for all us vocalists !
