A rock band that has made a song about Lucid Dreaming!! This is one song we simply had to react to. The music reminded Savio about Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb.

I've been lucid dreaming ever since I was a child, its great. However once I realize that I AM dreaming, it doesn't take long before I wake up. I've tried hard over the years to REALLY concentrate on staying lucid longer but the best I've been able to accomplish is like an extra 5 minutes after awareness.

I truly appreciate your analysis of this song as it pertains to lucid dreaming..I didnt know it was a thing. Our minds can be our most powerful weapon positively and our greatest enemy in the negative sense. You guys have grown on me over time, and I've come to appreciate and look forward to your professional opinions on thought provoking lyrics in song. Thank you for doing your reactions to lyrics as they get to the heart of what many bands/singers were trying to convey, unfortunately a lot of the lyrics are lost in the delivery of the song. Much respect to you guys for your chosen path of expertise..I imagine you'll never want for clientele our current world. It's a tough road every day for you folks listening to every problem in the spectrum, real of perceived.

I was living in Seattle when this song came out, the band is a Seattle based band..when the local radios started giving this a lot of airplay, the DJ’s used to mention the band name, telling listeners it wasn’t PinkFloyd.

This is one of THOSE songs. This song fills me with so much emotion. I wind up crying Every. Single. Time. It's almost a cathartic cry too. I feel it building and then it's like the shell cracks, light explodes and expands, I emerge and the tears begin to flow like water in a stream. Yeah, it's kind of like that

I believe the band's core purpose of the song was to be a lullabye for a child whose loved one has died. The singer is trying to guide such a child into a dream where the pain can be replaced with wondrous joy if only to stop crying long enough to sleep.

The cello melody in the last few seconds of the song is an old lullaby called "Go To Sleep".

I thought that too when I first heard the song a long time ago. But it truly is about lucid dreaming. It talks about "Dream Control" in the lyrics.

We played this at my Daughters funeral, as we lead her out of the venue and toward the hearse for her final journey. She was 16 years old and passed in her sleep. No cause was found. Very difficult few years followed and it was a LONG time before I could listen to this song again.

The lyrics of this song outdo anything Pink Floyd has done. The mixing of the string orchestra and rock segments is compelling. I love this song and I thank you for letting us see you enjoying it. The sexiest women in the world listen to music like this with their man. Fantastic to see.

If you like Silent Lucidity you should also react to the Queensryche song “Anybody Listening?”. It from the same album as Silent Lucidity. Both songs are hit singles from the album, and the both match each other well musically. They are closely related and they feel sort of like siblings or cousins to each other. Both of these songs together make for an excellent pair and you can’t have one without the other, and if you like one of them, chances are you will also like the other one. So for that reason, I think you should consider reacting to that song too. Considering how closely related they are to each other. And on a side note, a lot of other people compare this to Pink Floyd as well. I’ve seen people jokingly say things like “this is the best Pink Floyd song that’s not by Pink Floyd”. 😋

Music is interpreted many ways.... for me, growing up with Musicians all around me, and being subjected to many different genres, I'm able to describe what music does for me. Simply, music has always been defined for me as the times of my life.... taking me back to memories of people and places I've encountered in my 53 years..... some of those places have been sad, lonely, desperate, and confusing....others fill me with warmth, compassion, excitement, happiness, and hope..... a day without being moved emotionally by music in some way, is a very sad day......

I agree that it's about lucid dreaming, even though the meaning was different to me when I first heard it. To me it just spoke of teen angst, which makes sense because I was 15 and first heard it probably the week it came out, back in 1990. For me, this is one of those songs that is so powerful when you first hear it that the day itself is ingrained in your memory. Silent Lucidity ended up structuring part of that day. I heard it on the radio in the afternoon, and I ended up waiting by the radio until late at night waiting for them to play it again. A friend and I had planned to go to party, and we were late to the party because I wouldn't leave the damn radio (ah, those long-ago days before tech changed). It was just a teen kegger party - not like there was some set time - but she was very frustrated with me as we sat in my room, but I didn't care because I HAD TO HEAR THAT SONG AGAIN before we left. I wish I could say that, when they played it again, she was entranced and understood completely why I'd put off going to the party, but she was just like, "Fine, you heard it. Can we go?" Oh, well.

It is good that people are starting to open their minds up to this kind of music but you have to take into account the lyrics being able to decipher them is like reading the Bible you have to have someone to interpret if you do not have an interpreter it's left for your own mind to decide the rabbit hole goes deep I was kicked off of Google before for looking down that rabbit hole landed in a place I shouldn't have and it is very very scary
