Welcome to another installment in the WORST TO BEST series. I review every album as a musician as I am a singer, song-writer and a bass-player, so you can expect slightly alternative viewpoint. It won't be the right one. Or the wrong one. Simply a different one. This time I decided to order all of the studio albums from another one of my all-time favorite groups - QUEENSRYCHE from worst to best. Enjoy :)

My top 5. Operation Mindcrime. Rage For Order. Empire. Promised Land. The Warning/EP. I love the albums with Todd as well. All those other albums though I picked a few songs off each and ended up with like a Trilogy best of 3 CD set. Works out well and keeps me from having to go through each CD to listen to the few tracks I enjoy off each one. 🙂

I dunno why people claim Chris Degarmo wrote "85 to 90 percent of their music". Look at the songwriting credits on The Warning, Rage and Mindcrime. Michael Wilton co-wrote nearly half those songs

Yeah, you're right. General consensus I guess. This video was made a long time ago. But he seemed to have been the secret ingredient because they never surpassed the first five albums. But the last album with him was quite weak so... who knows

I would put Q2K ahead of Dedicated to Chaos and Tribe...mainly because of the song Right Side of My Mind. All others...I'd pretty much agree with. The Verdict...now that its out jumps WAY up there.

I actually listened to Operation Mindcrime for the first time a couple of days ago, and I have very mixed feelings about it. In my opinion, it's not the best concept album of all time, but I would say it's up there. I also think that Geoff Tate is trying way too hard to rip off Bruce Dickinson and Michael Kiske on this album, because Tate's voice sounds alarmingly similar to Dickinson and Kiske here. For a long time, I didn't understand the story of this album until JJ Metalhead made a video where she explained the story. That's probably what I should've done first before listening to the album. There are still some songs I really love on the album including: Revolution Calling, Operation Mindcrime, Spreading the Disease, Suite Sister Marry, The Needle Lies, I Don't Believe in Love, and Eyes of a Stranger. The rest of the tracks are average in my opinion, and it's what holds the album back for me.
@rjakobej

It's actually Kiske who copied Tate. Queensryche released their first EP in 1983 and it is one of the most iconic metal releases. With their debut album The Warning (1984) and critically acclaimed Rage For Order (1986) - this makes for 3 releases before Keeper 1 (1987). Back in the 80's both singers were almost undistinguishable but their voices started being quite different in the 90's (mainly because they both started using their whole range not just the high notes). As to the Dickinson comparison, it is often considered that the big 4 of metal singers (all pioneering a slightly different style of singing) were Dio, Halford, Dickinson and Tate. All very different and pretty much setting paths for numerous future singers.
@waterdive122productions6
@waterdive122productions6 2 жыл бұрын
@@rjakobej Interesting. Kiske Shou definitely be in that big 4, or maybe they should extend it to the big 5 and throw Kiske in there. Kiske sounds so much better than Geoff Tate in my opinion. I'm honestly not crazy about Tate's vocals

@@rjakobej I have seen those videos. In fact, that's why I thought that Tate was ripping off Kiske at first. Kiske is actually my favorite singer in any genre. I don't know what it is with Geoff Tate, I guess it's an acquired taste.

Your list is remarkably similiar to mine! :) Was interesting to hear that you also think Condition Hüman (with its title track) is the strongest point in the late era. My top5 with highlights: 5. The Warning (No Sanctuary, N M 156, Take Hold of the Flame) 4. Empire (Della Brown, Anybody Listening, Best I Can, Silent Lucidity) 3. Promised Land (Lady Jane, Damaged, Promised Land, Someone Else) 2. Operation: Mindcrime (everything) 1. Rage for Order (everything, amazing atmosphere)
