The thing I love about bootlegs are they show just how good Geoff and the band really was. No fixes in the studio like Live albums.

1:21 Ah, yes. My man going for that opening E5 like a champ, just like in Toyko in 1985, the year before this show. He wrote his vocal parts without thinking about the future, that's for sure. And that, kids, IS REAL ROCK AND ROLL!! 3:58 And again with that sweet sustained E5. 4:55 AND AGAIN!! Killed that E5. Such a DAMN hard song to sing. Even me at 50 in my car singing along using falsetto I can still barely hit it.
@jmscoving
@jmscoving 3 жыл бұрын
I am with you man his reinforced head voice was unbelievable. My E5 is a weak falsetto by comparison. He has been wailing all night before this most likely. He says good night so this is likely an encore.

Tokyo was August 5 1984. The encore was this and Queen Of The Reich. Strong, solid and smooth. Geoff Tate was classically trained in Seattle and has a five octave vocal range.

Me too! I was just telling the story about that tour to someone. I saw them in Sacramento. Kiss was so loud it was painful. I think it was the unmasked tour IIRC. Been a Queens fan ever since.

@@DD-um4dd That was my first concert as well in Binghamton NY That's where I discovered QR as well. They got screwed on the sound but I hear Kiss usually only gave opening bands 50% of the PA back then. Kiss was really good despite the small crowd. I would guess maybe 1,500 people. Seen a lot of Queensryche shirts on by people who were waiting in line. Seen them again on the Empire tour, now that was one hell of a show!

I just tried singing this song all the way through today for the first time in years and at 51 years old I can still hit all of it from start to finish. I have been a pro singer for many years and I'm connected and work in the rock industry and used Tate's vocals to practice over the years however I had to idea I could still pull this off.

@@jmscoving Thanx for calling me a liar. That's nifty of you. I'm acually a professional and the lead singer for The Dead Kings. I have been helping pro bands write melodies for many years under 2 record labels. I have worked with Cold, Limp, Kill Switch, White Chapel, Journey and a few others. I also do promotional work for Some of Journey Management and World Gone who have members from Cold and Evanescence (Joe Bennett and Rocky Grey) Who are close friends of mine. I still sing Journey songs as well and was going to try out for the band when Arnel had differences with Neal a few years ago. I'm the real deal. Who are you anyway? What do you do?

Yep, Kiss and Queensryche in Seattle for me as well. I was already a Tate worshipper by then. My friends and I would bootleg some beer, get a fire going and blast Ryche, Maiden and Priest on our boombox till the batteries gave out. We’d all try and see who could sound the most like Geoff. Then we’d buy eggs for the nightly egging of some unfortunate recipients. We were punks…. It was magic. Best times of my life
