Video cut short at the end but I got the meat of the review out. Very impressed and wont be going back to other filters, only for the experiment element of it. Cheers.

Great honest review. Seems a brilliant bit of kit. As for the extra relay for the pumps. My controller was the same, I was advised to wire it to a double socket and plug both pumps into 1 which is what I did
@CATANDEYEKOI3 жыл бұрын
Yeah that will work Danny. When I looked inside the controller, the urge to add another relay was too great ha ha. Cheers mate. Stay safe

Hi Steve, A good honest review mate. You can see where some of the cost is when you see 10 and 15mm PP. Not cheap stuff. Great vid mate, keep them coming, Terry.

Great review of the drum. Would love to have one on my pond but here in Canada selection is pretty much unavailable with most have to come from the US where selection is limited as well. We have only a minuscule number of drum filters available compared to the UK making them completely out of range price wise for all but the rich. Maybe if I win a lottery one day I'll be able to get one. High end filter systems here are generally Nexus filters for larger ponds and Eazy Pods for the rest. On a different note, your very warm day would be a welcome relief here as today's temperature is expected to reach 40C once the humidity is factored in. Not a day for too much pond related work today. Cheers.

Love my aquasource drum, been running since 2017 no problem, only downside sometimes weed/leaves can get caught on waste shute sides, but a flexible bristle brush sorts that out, maybe twice a week.
@CATANDEYEKOI3 жыл бұрын
That's a great result. I don't mind a few leaves. Cheers Marek. Stay safe

Good video, hopefully getting mine next year if I ever get around to finish my secondary filter and control panel upgrade. Probably going for a small Filtreau cozmbi my current main filter is down in a pit OK when I was 45 now 61 pain in the ass
@CATANDEYEKOI3 жыл бұрын
I feel your pain, or rather I did. The control panel you mentioned has got me intrigued. Hopefully you get your drum soon as. Stay safe

Hi Steve, i will stick some photos on here of the devastation which is currently to the rear of my pond. Cables, conduit, Kopex and detritus everywhere. Still mid level fed filters are running again just need the addition of a Tempest to complete. Every time i plan to work on it something else comes up.

Hi how did you fasten the control box to the wall do you have to remove front cover on control box to fasten it back to the wall
@CATANDEYEKOI2 жыл бұрын
Yeah front cover needs to come off, very fiddly. Fix it to a wooden board first then fasten board to wall.

Good review mate . I would say that this drum has one more negative Than you mentioned the sockets on the control box , are not weather proof so for any one thinking of getting one of these drums who doesn’t have a dry filter room , the control box will need to be made weather proof some how.

What drum would you have if you had no size requirements for your filter pit
@CATANDEYEKOI3 жыл бұрын
Ironically enough this drum is rated to 3400g so I guess this one. A bigger bio chamber would have been nice but I'm very happy with this. Stay safe mate

Steve, good video of this rdf. As the video cut short at the end, I don't know what was said during the end part. However, you know better than myself that if people do not want to buy commercial rdf than they can build one according to wright's plans costing under 1k. As I will be soon. Any news about sorting your upright filter and issues with rdf? Regards Lak.

I'm a couple of years younger than you, and have had a similar thought process; "can I keep up with the 3-4 hours a week filter cleaning/pond vacuuming forever?" Probs not, but, like you said, many people can't stretch to a RDF, certainly at current prices. I'm kind of hoping that in 3-5 years time prices might come down, but not sure they will get low enough for me. Maybe I'll make a giant upflow that can take 20,000l an hour instead ;) That all said, thanks for the review, it's nice to hear the positives and some aspects to watch out for

Good honest review Steve like you say funds for a drum are out of most peoples pocket range i could but don't mind the filter up keep for me clean time in a week is about two times half hour slots summer and winter is half hour a week. Will i ever mover to the Dark side and get a drum that's a yes will i buy or build one most likely build one to Terrys plan's if i go down that path with a bit of a Devon twist to it will it be soon no plans yet. But a winter rebuild of the Answer filter should put it off for some years yet
