He didn’t say “best”. He said “perfect”. There is a distinction. By “perfect” he just means that the pacing, writing, direction, performances, etc, all conspire to execute the films vision perfectly, for the intended audience. However, many of the best films ever made are flawed in many of these respects. B2TF isn’t a better movie than Apocalypse Now, for instance. While the latter is flawed and messy, it was much more artistically ambitious than B2TF. It’s easier to aim for perfection when the premise and goals of the project, are more simplistic in nature.

I was thinking the same. A lot of comments don't quite seem to grasp what he means by "perfect" which is different than "masterpiece". There are plenty of flawed masterpieces. conversely, not every "perfect" film is a "masterpiece" either. It's about clarity of vision and execution. where every aspect of the film comes together perfectly with nothing extraneous and nothing missing. Films are such huge collaborative efforts so this requires a great deal of luck as well as talent, skill and effort, thus being rarely achieved

Raiders of the Lost Ark - childhood favorite that never gets old
@mookiewilson4166

The entire last act of Raiders is ridiculous and pointless. Indy literally didn’t have to chase the ark down or follow the nazis at all, he could have headed back to Chicago and nothing would have been different.

@@mookiewilson4166 For a while I thought the same thing... until I realized the true purpose of the movie: Both Indy and the audience (you included) got to witness the epic journey and then the denial of victory and then the complete and utter destruction of the villain. In the world of storytelling, there is nothing more satisfying than that.

@@mach2223 I couldn’t imagine watching that show, but the plot hole’s as old as the film. And yes, it kind of lessens the stakes and payoff of the film a little. It’s still a masterpiece, just a masterpiece with a glaring plot hole. Imagine if Star Wars ended with the Death Star exploding at the moment it started to fire the death ray because of a reactor leak which meant no matter what happened with Luke’s shot, it was still never going to work out for the villains. Wouldn’t it put a little tarnish on your satisfaction?

@@CaptainPupu what specificly is "too fake" about it? The dinosaurs still look amazing and hold up now. Its one of the biggest movies of the 90's and is still one of the biggest movie franchises over 30 years later for a reason. All that is owed to the success and amazing work in the first movie. Professional SFX artists still talk about just how amazing Jurassic Park's special effects/CGI are and how well they hold up even today. Watch the Corridor Crew talk about it on youtube. So if its not the CGI, what specificly is too fake about this fictional movie? All science fiction is "fake", its not meant to be a documentary. Back to the Future is fake also, you have to be more specific about why you feel this movie doesnt deserve the same respect as those others listed. Jurassic park is more in the realm of believability than Back to the future, scientists are currently working on bringing back extinct species.

He was solid as Cpl.Hicks in Aliens, Kyle Reese in Terminator, ....Abyss, The Rock, good character actor, but as Johnny Ringo, he was an iconic blackhat who got his in the end. He had the wild eyed frenzy that made him seem unpredictable when he wasn't being measured and calm.Great call and I totally agree! That is what I meant in my post about "classics" Most critics panned tombstone as average and its more of a cult classic, but I watch it everytime its on and quote it, but don't care if I never see Back to the future again!

@@thereccher8746 Agreed, i seen to many "gamers" complain about into the spiderverse. There is room for it in specific usecases for slowmotion and whatnot, but with good frame timing 24fps is more than enough even for super intense fight scenes. If its not clear then its fault of other elements like too chaotic editing or bad framing or choreography. For other scenes it just takes away the gravity of everything. Facial expressions and movements feel less impactful as they last less on the screen and matter less in sea of excess frames, so we cant focus on taking the scene in subconciously.
