I wished there was a 256GB model as it offers a nice balance between the 128GB (too little) and 512GB (too much). It feels like I will be forced to get the 512GB model as I felt that 128GB on the Quest 2 was pushing the limit. Honestly I think this was done due to GREED by meta. The base model should have been 256GB and not 128GB.

Meta could still make money anyways on the 512GB for content creators anyways. So Meta wouldn’t be losing any money as storage is cheap.

I agree it was a cunning tactic in my opinion, especially including a free game that’s 25gb. 256 should definitely have been an option and then they would have had less backlash about the 512.

I still have the quest 1 (64gb) and I have about 15gb of unused space still left over. Obviously the 128gb quest 3 won’t be enough for hardcore gamers but for casual gamers like me I strongly recommend saving some money and buying the 128gb model, which then you can buy accessories and other games with the money you save. I can’t wait to upgrade!

I have the 64GB of the quest 2 and that space lasted me the couple years I have had it. I’m not someone who just spends to play something new. Something has to have merit to it for me to fully purchase and enjoy it. 120GB, give or take, is completely fine. Yes, I may land slightly towards the average user as I only play games. No business apps, videos, or extra things. Even the handful of bigger titles will be fine on the 129 model.

Thanks for the comment - it’s great for everyone to read different perspectives as it’s a tricky decision for some. Meta have made it harder by missing out the 256 version which feels like a cunning tactic to me.

For normal, non-streamers; the 128 gb should be fine. Let’s be realistic, game streaming is lame lmfao Unless they provide amazing content or extremely useful tips that others haven’t provided; it’s all just cannon fodder for youtube

For me I wanted the battery pack head strap. The basic headstrap is unusable. So I spent the the extra money on the headstrap rather than more storage space. I'm mostly PCVR gamer. I'll only use the Quest 3 for AR and a few games here and there.

I jumped into Q2 when 128 was made the standard. Even as someone that doesn't go mad, I've had problems when there's not been enough space to update larger apps, without deleting little used ones. The choice to get the 512gb was a no brainer, even if I had to take a deep breath about spending that much, especially when I will be buying the Pico 5 Pro (if the leaked specs pan out). The Pico has been my main device for the last year, as frankly there was nothing on Quest that was a must buy and despite weaker hand tracking (which I don't use on either), the UI on Pico is better and the OS more flexible IMO. The upgrade in graphics and MR potential was enough to tempt me to overlook Meta's shortcomings, but I expect the Pico to continue to be my PCVR headset.

Yeah I hated having to delete stuff, I know some people are happy to delete and re install but I like having all my favourites on there so that if people come round that haven’t used VR before I can show them a load of different games. It will be interesting to see what Pico actually comes out with next year. I didn’t really like the 4 but then I didn’t use it with PCVR.

Great video, love the wii backgound lol. For me the 512 was a no-brainer, since you can fit so many more 3D films on there. Those are 25-50GB in size 😄

I heard getting movies onto your quest device is pretty hard. You would have to buy the movie then rip it onto the pc. You would then transfer to tour quest 2. Isn't that how it works? Is there an easier way?

Just ordered my first VR headset, the Meta Quest 3 and went with the 512 Gb version. For a hundred quid extra, it was pretty much a no brainer. The additional storage will I'm sure help to future proof the device as well as making things simpler in the long run - thanks for all your video's, they're very informative

I had that 128g model for a month and already ran out of room were i was shuffling around games. Figured with this being the very beginning of the quest 3 im sure the future games will prob be bigger as they start making games specifically for the quest 3. And more of the older games get a enhancment for quest 3 i might aswell just grab the 512gb and be done with it. Im sure this was all part of the meta plan to frustrate people into just getting the larger version.

If I had the extra money I would opt for the 512 GB model. There have been times on my quest 2 when I deleted a game to make room and I didn't know that that particular game didn't have cloud saves. I had to find out the hard way when I redownloaded it down the road and all my progress was gone. 😢

Oh man I know I have had the same - even with saints and sinners I lost all my progress relying on cloud. I wish you could see the cloud storage that would at least give you more confidence - maybe you can access it and see what’s saved I’m not sure 🤔

I went with the 512 version. Best Buy had that promo deal with their card, had extra Rewards points sitting in my account - couldn’t pass on $570 out the door price! I also like to record gameplay, so the larger space definitely helps!

As someone who bought the Quest 2 for gaming, i found my use switched to consuming media and not so much gaming. For the movies I download onto the headset there's not enough space. Each movie is about 10GB to 25GB. There are streaming websites like DEO video but it's nicer having a library on device. Much quicker especially if u want to switch between movies quickly

Last night, I criticised the $100 price increase of the Quest, after 3 Oculus ambassadors visited my home at night and explained to me the reasons for the increase, I now feel foolish for my previous opinions. I will be purchasing a Quest and I strongly recommend you do as well

They should have offered a 1Tb with 12GB of Ram option! The 8Gb headset is considered their most powerful and greatest achievement so far. They're giving Pico too many opportunities to look good

Yeah it will be interesting to see what Pico does with the 5 but it’s more than just spec it’s the whole ecosystem you buy into and I think Pico can’t compete with the whole package that meta offers.

I am a hardcore gamer but will still get the 128gb. Main reasons being it will be 90% used with a high end pc and also with 1.5 gigabit internet loading games is so fast there is no point wasting space installing a big library.

I've got 512GB. Usable memory is 481GB. So that's 31G OS, way more than Q2 was. If you have 128GB Q3, that's 97GB usable memory (assuming the OS is same on both).

I purchased 120gig but soon as I downloaded just a 5 trials games, it was quickly became only 98gig in few hours. Not even one main or game installed. Most of Xbox or ps5 games are 25gig to 50gig. And some 100gig. That’s crazy big. So I returned the 120gig and paid extra $160 and got the 500gig. I am happy to get the extra memory. But it’s up to you. But I think new games coming out will be bigger games so I am safe.

I'm a bit lazy, so because of that, after buying 128GB, I'd likely end up accumulating games I'd play just once, and I'd probably regret it when a game I truly want to play comes out. However, I still can't bring myself to buy the 512GB one because, you see, in Japan, there's such a significant price difference that you can practically get a Nintendo Switch Lite for it. If I were Elon Musk, though, I'd happily go for the 512GB. 😢

I think it’s a smart strategy not to include 256gb version. They know 128 gb is not that sufficient either user will upgrade to new version or they will get bored from installing and reinstalling.

I’m not sure how many use it all I know is that I lost all my progress on saints and sinners and it was meant to save to the cloud so I don’t entirely trust it - this was a year ago so it may have improved - hopefully others will comment on this as well 👍

Got it mainly for pcvr sim raCING, but turns out my old gpu 1080 has a hard time renedring the 2 4k high framerate screens, so i ihave to upsable n shit for that to get it looked goo, lots more thing to try and tweak it with but the none of that isa gonna help with simply am good, but old gaming righ outfitted suddenly with a futuristic neg gen tech doal display stuff thats mindblowing on pcvr withe the latest GPUs **BUT** Glad i got a 515, the games albeit less impressive or realistic that tghe pcvr titles plat crisp lag free and perfect. Didnt realised I didnt just buy a screen I bought a fully portabled MOBILE vr HEAdset i CAN LIKERALLY use wireless anywhere and be immersed in my own reality. Resonathing heavily withethe cyberpunk aestethic, this is the future! --- Now to fully use as intended i'd have to prActically built a new pc, or upscale until then I guess. U cant just buy dual 4K just released from ptototype tiny eyeglass sized monitors running up to 120hz providing ashtonishing dept, clarity and zero latencym updated so fastg you wouldbt tell if ur looking out of a window or th window is a screeen.

Ive never used Quest before,is there any reason you want to play standalone stuff if you have a powerful PC for PCVR and only intend to use the headset at home? eg : exclusive standalone titles etc just trying to decide 128 or 512 the price difference is big. what about videos can you play them off PC or need to be loaded into the headset?

I haven’t played pcvr but I assume it’s way better than standalone so if this is all you use then 128 should be fine as you can play the games and watch films direct from your pc. I use the quest in different rooms so I need the portability plus my PC would probably suck for gaming.

If this is all you will use it for 128 should be fine - take a look at how big all the golf games are that you’re likely to play before you decide

I rather put the $150 on a proper headstrap with battery storage. I don't know why they even sell the Quest with that cloth headstrap. It really hurts the usability when you have to fiddle with it to adjust the strap for new players. Maybe, maybe I should have waited for 3rd party battery headstraps and reviews but I was impatient.
