You can change the boundary settings so that even the controllers don't make it pop up so quick

I have had zero issues with Airlink on the Quest 3. Not really noticing the "jagged edges" or "flat"ness you talked about.

Yes it does. I am using it for a week now and it works very well. The only main thing you need it a decent 5-6 wifi router close enough.

What about using Virtual Desktop with the Ultra preset using AV1 and HEVC 10bit at high bitrate? Airlink just looks like it's encoding video at a lower res and upscaling it.

yeah, airlink is somewhat of an inferior experience. Remember to tick the box in VD that boosts the colors, because of the LCD panels. @@xressentials
