The quest pro is just terrible. The quest 3 just seems slightly better than the XR elite simply because the phone seems to be clearer and more readable on the quest 3. I just hope Vive keeps getting updates to improve it and I really wish someone would make a much more comfortable and just better facial interface and headstrap

Wait...I thought the XR elite passthrough was not stereoscopic (I know that the Q Pro and Q3 both do have stereoscopic passthrough). If the XR Elite pass through is not stereoscopic, that is a HUGE factor in considering the three headsets.

It isn't. That can be enabled, but it's off by default in the home environment and there isn't a toggle for it in the settings yet. It's up to apps to decide whether they want the depth sensor reconstruction on or not - i've noticed that the Kartoffl game has the depth enabled when in MR-mode. As far as i can tell, HTC decided people would want the passthrough mainly for reading their phone, so having depth off ensures there are no distorsions of the text on the screen. The camera lenses are tuned for nearby objects too, your hands feel twice as big up close when passthrough is in default monoscopic mode.

I get a lot of mileage OUT of my cooooool lite weight Vive XR Elite. By no meas is it a bad XR headset to start off with. Well made....

On my XRE, I find using my phone easiest if I hold it straight up to my face--closer than my eyes would focus on irl, so it's unintuitive, but it of course stays in focus and makes it like looking at a tablet almost, and much better clarity than trying to look at the phone screen at a normal distance. :D

@@supremebaconoverlord Mainly has to do with the poor software at launch and the low resolution displays. The passthrough camera is 16mp, though the displays on the XR are only 1080p. Kind of an issue when you are doing actual tasks. (Especially when they are work related) Quest 3 is still a better headset in almost every way

Not sure if it is still like this because I got a refund for that game but you just click on solo then challenge now. For multiplayer instead of solo you choose multiplayer and try to find a match. I was not able to find a match unfortunately

i mean the vive didnt have any distortion where as the others did slightly at the edges (pro more so than Quest 3 but still there)

@@joe-5D The quest 3 was only very slightly better than the vive on this video, and the quest 3 had more distortions if I've seen correctly. Both, the vive and quest 3 are better than the pro here.

How far along has the XR Elite come software wise since release date?

For stand alone applications not too far they still need alot of work in that department I mostly use it for PCVR. For Headset software updates there's been like 3 or 4 since release and things function much better now like Hand tracking works better not up to par with Quest but getting close and streaming works great now. Had alot of issues with Vive streaming Hub and even Virtual Desktop but they both work great now.

I returned mine originally when it first came out, but just bought it again for $520 Used like new so I will check it out and compare it to my quest 3 for PCVR. I really did like the form factor of the XR. Does the XR still have bad glare? Did they put in a reset display orientation button? Like on the quest hold button on controller and it resets the display orientation.

@@Gunner.TV. It does unfortunately which is kind of odd especially for pancake lenses. I can get passed that cuz it's usually on the opening splash screen of a game where you see the game the name of the game on a black background. Once you're in the actual game it's fine or just not really noticeable. I had problems with the default face gasket especially during the summer time. I got the MR gasket and have been playing with it more often now even with the hot weather and do enjoy it more now especially for games that require alot of movement. It's too bad they got off to a rocky start, that really hurt HTC but hoping they can recover.

@gunnertv7696 Yeah still has the glare but not as bad. The reset view isn't like the Quest but it works a little better now.

@@supremebaconoverlord It's actually kind of the other way around with glare and pancake lenses. Glare is a natural shortcoming of the lens type and Meta's ability to resolve it is what's actually odd. Also wishing HTC luck, as I've really started to legit enjoy using the XR Elite and I use it primarily as standalone. I think the biggest thing that killed this headset is the panicked premature release. The fact that it's so much better of a product now is evidence to me that this is a failing of top level leadership, not the engineers and developers.
