Finally someone who agrees with me about the CE-1 preamp being unique. Thanks for the effort in recording this video!

Thanks Will! The CE-1 definitely has a very specific sound. I know you're producing a CE-1 preamp pedal. If you're interested I would love to make a high quality comparison video! Just let me know...

I mostly only know of the Retro-Sonic Chorus being a thorough CE-1 clone- what are some others you've heard of? Would be very curious.

Very cool video again! I’m interested in the tc electronic scf gold, it also has an analog BBD circuit and preamp like the ce-1.

Thank you! The TC Electronic Stereo Chorus definitely sounds interesting. I’ve never tried it so I can’t give you my opinion.

Nice video. I also think the compadre and the milkman came closest. But I thought the main thing they missed was volume. Like it was thinner somehow. Like the CE-1 but turned down. Very clear explanation! 👌
@RedHotChiliRiffs2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's weird because they were all matched volume wise but the CE-1 "feels" louder!

As a bassist who dabbles on guitar I am very curious of how the CE-1 preamp sounds on bass? Perhaps a one off video or a short? Or just your answer here after trying it would be awesome. Love your videos!

That's actually a good idea! I'll make a video where I'll demonstrate how the CE-1 sounds on bass! Thanks for the suggestion!

Nice video I used the Boss Roland chorus for my bass back in the 80s Loved the tone and tremolo option Sounded warm and not too thin and wispy I would like to get another one, I do have a Roland amp with the D chorus if I want to go back to that sound so.....? But I recommend it for a bass player

Have you tried any of the PastFX stuff? I’m guessing based on what you said at the end that you’ve heard of them, but haven’t tried them.

True. I’ve seen their pedals on Instagram and KZbin but I’ve never used one. Seems really good though!

It's a great pleasure to greet you,.. I have a question if you can help me... I have a Boss Ce1, it works excellent in stereo... BUT I feel that when using it in mono, and I turn on a distortion pedal (Boss Ds2) it loses a bit of punch or presence to the distortion... let me explain better... if I'm using the Boss ds2 and I turn on the Boss Ce1, it seems that certain frequencies are cancelled, and it sounds a bit less "loud"... in clean it is not noticeable, but when I turn on an overdrive, distortion or fuzz pedal before the chorus this problem happens... this only happens when I use it in Mono... when using it in Stereo it does not happen and the sound It's huge since it's easy to handle by mixing the volume of the 2 amps... Has something like this happened to you when using the chorus in mono? I have tried to look for information on the internet, but I have not found... I have a Boss ce2 that only has mono output, and unlike the ce1, with distortion it sounds even louder (boosts the mids). I will be attentive any help... greetings from Chile

I’ve never experienced this problem so I’m afraid I can’t help you with this issue. Could it be that there’s a problem with your unit?

Boss now makes a BP-1w Preamp/boost pedal with the RE and CE-1 preamps in it. But the CE-2w + BP-1w is more money than just getting the PastFX Chorus Ensemble Deluxe.
@RedHotChiliRiffs Жыл бұрын
I already bought the Boss BP-1. I’ll record a comparison video this month.
@NytronX Жыл бұрын
@@RedHotChiliRiffs That'd be an interesting comparison. I bet the PastFX is better than the CE-2w + BP-1w.

I love mine also! I only can’t run it in high impedance mode because of the clipping/weird filter noise I get when engaging the WH10 after the DS2. I don’t have that on the low mode, how about you?
@RedHotChiliRiffs2 жыл бұрын
The CE-1 is definitely clipping when engaging the DS-2 and the WH-10, but that’s part of the sound. John’s CE-1 is clipping as well.
@ivansindicic59602 жыл бұрын
@@lukabanovic2937 did you mean by clipping ,when effect is engaged and connected in stereo, because stereo output clips more. That happens in high mode after 2 or 3 oclock on gain pot.
@RedHotChiliRiffs2 жыл бұрын
No, the preamp of the CE-1 is clipping when the input is too hot. It doesn’t matter if it’s in stereo or mono mode or if the effect is on or off.
