I'm sorry but that comander was either lying or doesn't know much about other MBTs because the Challenger 2 isn't the best MBT in the world. The Challneger 2 is one of the slowest modern MBTs, it's armor protection is worst than that of both the M1A2 Abrams and Leopard 2a7. As far as firepower, it still uses piece ammo which has a several disadvantages.
@circlefired7585 жыл бұрын
You are very wrong about the armour, its probably the best protected in the world only the Abrams is its equal in terms of protection. But i agree the gun is now in certain areas a disadvantage to the upgrade smoothbore Leopard, its something to do with the ammo we use its different than most of the allied powers, it does hold the longest confirmed kill record.
@kenwheeler61505 жыл бұрын
MississippiRebel. I don't know where your facts come from but I was under the impression that Challenger 2 uses Gen 2 Dorchester armour, the Abrams uses the old Gen 1 Burlington, Both a development of Chobham Armour. As for the gun, Challenger has the rifled barrel which does limit the types of ammo it can use, but it can be useful at longer ranges, and we do like our sabot rounds but keep the HESH rounds for softer vehicles and buildings. As for power, I thought the Challengers diesel engine delivered about the same battle field performance as the Abrams turbine unit. but with better range. I am not trying to prove that Challenger 2 is better than the M1A2 just not as useless as you seem to believe. And we have a BV for a nice cuppa with breakfast.

American-made documentaries always trying to sensationalize the mundane. Hey, they're restoring old tanks. That's interesting enough IMO. No need to try to find some angle to hype. The irritating re-epilogation of the narrative designed for viewers who joined the show after a commercial break is infuriating. And why the re-showing of a computer animation of a centurion in a modern urban environment? Absurd. These restoration projects take years and they want to do a tank restoration "documentary" with several days of on-the-job footage with some poorly selected archival footage and CG animation. Important information. The Centurion was still vulnerable to what the russians had from the front. Especially the IS-2 and 3s which could easily punch through and the 3 could even bounce the shells that the Centurion primarily used. Idk why the documentary says that the Russians were stunned when the British and other Allies were the ones stunned by the IS-3s.
@aaronp5735 жыл бұрын
Kommandant Killcode I believe that the term “communists” was used to refer to the communist Chinese that they were fighting in Korea, who really didn’t have any armoured vehicles to speak of, or at least none that could match the centurions on range and firepower. That is the reason I believe they might have been “stunned”.
@kommandantkillcode5 жыл бұрын
Aaron Podmore Oh, I understand. It’s just suprising that they were “shocked” when the T-34-85 which the Chinese and Koreans had could penetrate the frontal armor of the Centurion up until the Mk 5. But at that point the T-54 and other mediums were starting to be introduced into Asia.
