This shortage of houses is a myth, in my area the amount of new builds going up is crazy, the problem is they are not affordable, thank God I brought 11 years ago, I'd have no hope now, this myth is right up there with the NHS needing more money, no it doesn't, it simply needs running better.

Rayner admitted as much during an interview on Sky recently.
@theauldscientist6 күн бұрын
The problem with new housing that is being flung up, is that it is an asset that is only affordable to the wealthy, who hoover these new assets up, rent them out, or sit on them until the price inevitably goes up. We need housing built for ordinary people at an affordable level to us, can anybody see this happening? You won't find a housebuilder in the land that will agree to build cheap housing for almost no profit. The answer is to tax the super rich properly, but the super rich control litereally every narrative the people the consume, so anybody who takes on this insurmountable challenge will get absolutely dismantled and ruined.

It’s all well and good building all these homes, but where I’m from, the sheer number of cars and the unbelievable traffic jams are the real problem because of where they are building them. The infrastructure just isn’t there to support it. Towns are becoming overpopulated, and getting an appointment with a dentist for example is nearly impossible compared to five years ago due to the amount of people now.

@mogzybuster6 күн бұрын
@Anthony-z7b3v No, your comment exhibits delusion; illegal immigration represents a very small portion of the overall immigration levels. While the last government banged on about Rwanda and 'stop the boats' they also ramped up legal immigration levels to record highs, while also slowing down the processing of asylum claims to a trickle, that being the main reason for the hiring of hotels and barges at huge expense to the taxpayer. The need to build housing has multiple reasons not to do with immigration, affordability for young people and a need for social housing with reasonable rents to help lower income families away from poverty etc. there are more reasons, but that'll do for starters. But I'm sure you already know these things being a well informed individual not intentionally misrepresenting the facts ...
@Anthony-z7b3v6 күн бұрын
You sound very nice. I’m sure you could put a few illegals in your house.
@DFandV4 күн бұрын
@mogzybuster If he had said. For immigrants in general, he would've looked more credible, I think that's what he initially meant but he thinks every migrant probably are illegal, which is absolutely not true. And those that come illegally are of a very small proportion, which wouldn't cause a housing shortage.

However Britain has a declining birth rate. 2.1 is the number Britain needs for a steady population but now has a birth rate of 1.2. Young people can’t afford to buy a house so therefore not having or having children much later. Unfortunately Britain needs immigrants to fill those gaps.

@@davidkennedy6612 Yes but not ILLEGAL immigrants.
@phillipimran73776 күн бұрын
You clearly haven't a clue how the immigration system works. Legal Immigrants do not get access to social housing, benefits, free healthcare, and free education unless you have the indefinite leave to remain, refugee status after your asylum claim has been processed and the home office decides you are entitled to that, settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme, or the right of abode as a commonwealth citizen. My step father is a legal immigrant, he has to pay for everything, hell, he can't even apply for a mortgage.
@phillipimran73776 күн бұрын
@Anthony-z7b3v You do realize that the vast majority of immigrants coming over are legal right? The number of illegal immigrants is in the 10s of thousands while legal immigration is in the 100s of thousands. Suella Braverman was in a BBC documentary explaining this, she wanted to focus on bringing down the numbers of legal immigrants since that's the vast majority who are coming to the UK, but Rishi Sunak just wanted to focus on the boats and illegal immigration because bringing down the numbers of legal immigration would of cost us at least 3BN in order to do that.

approx one fifth of all mps are private landlords this cross party sizeable lobby oversee happily 350-000 homeless whilst 250000 properties are boarded up in the uk ,limiting the supply so landlords can demand more if wes streeting wants to resolve this ,he could , all that is required is parliament passing a law stating no property to be empty whilst society needs it this ends homelessness instantly , , its that easy , go on just do it
@ravens-crypt10 күн бұрын
That would require the building to be habitable for people so that would need money to make it possible depending on the location and the duration of the property being abandoned . Like where I’m from there’s three buildings that could be refurbished into a place to live in but all three need work done but at the same time two of them might be cheaper to destroy and then rebuild because of the state they have been left to become .

@@ravens-crypt yeah ravens , you highlight an obvious concern there , location first as thats the easiest to answer , most empties are in urban areas , infrastructure is in place alredy generally , saving some costs , condition of property ,,,, this one is tougher to answer , i could argue that landlords should be legally bound to maintain a property to a certain standard , but i accept that the landlord lobby in parliament have certainly voted into law a lesser standard under the previous govt and i dont think that has changed now isit possible instead to say ok dones done but now its done differently ,imagine if you trained folk toget these properties upto standard whilst giving them a wage and then allowing them to rent what theyve restored i cant answer all raven but i will try to answer you you ask good questions

If teachers suspect a child in their classes bears signs of physical abuse,they should be able to get as close to an immediate referral to a doctor as possible for examination. If it's established that a mark or injury is likely to be the result of abuse the police should be involved forthwith and an investigation launched. If it means the child not returning home until the matter is investigated then so be it.

What if UK involvement on decisive military action against Syria had sparked conflict with Russia, who were clear allies of Putin and have bases in Syria? Pier's narrative seems to put huge responsibility on Ed Miliband's shoulders, whereas large parts of UK population were war-weary/sceptical by 2013 after Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya, all three of which resulted in absolute disaster for those countries (or in case of Afghanistan a sustained conflict and then reversal to Taliban rule after Western withdrawl). Obvs the process in Syria was horrific, but it happened mostly through regional forces, except for NATO and Russian action against ISIL.
