You need to force the the AA's into maxing out their angular turn rate to acquire the target, not fly straight in at them from the sea. All pure speed did was bring RC into effective range faster, his angle in the sky is barely going to change until he's right over them.

This, when they shoot right at the plane, they don't need to time it, the plane will fly into the load eventually... sort of deal.

Exactly, speed only makes sense when traveling at an angle. That's IRL logic, though, I honestly don't know if DCS models the turret turn rates on the AA guns and SAM launchers.

When you are flying directly at someone you are effectively flying down the bore of their gun. You are a target that is pretty much floating in the air so it's easy to "keep a bead" on you as you approach. They just need to keep pumping out shells and you're eventually going fly into them. I think speed only helps so much.

You should be flying perpedicular to the AAA, not directly at it. The question is can the AAA track and physically rotate fast enough to hit the aircraft.

F-111 had the issue that certain AAA radars operated on same / similar frequencies as their TFR. The TFR thought there is a ground obstacle and initiated a pop-up. Tornado had the same issue. Also, when multiple F-111 were running in on a target from multiple directions careful planning was required since otherwise the TFR of one aircraft could confuse the TFR of another aircraft.

Interesting. In my offline training maps I have different kinds of anti air, all set to max skill level, but I never changed the alertness thing (simply because I didn't know and when I learned I was too lazy). With that, going beyond M .8 literally makes the short range IR SAMs (tested on Manpads, Strelas, both types) not shoot at all. Somewhere between .75 - .8 you might get shot at after you passed them, but with good chances to outrun them things. Shilkas fire so late you can directly engage them with guns (at some good range though, so you'd better not do that with the 16 or 18). So the alertness setting makes most of the difference apparently.

This engagement, while entertaining, is not really a test of the buccaneer / tornado style approach. Something like your canyon run, where passing across different defenders with limited opportunities to fire instead?

This is science but on the most basic level. I realise that’s the point but I’d be interested for more thought. Both AA and SAM are essentially shooting him straight in the face. No cover and maximum range. Low level makes sense when you have cover. This video is almost a troll. And no doubt you know that. You made it very clear from the start you knew what was going to happen. Either pick somewhere with a hill slightly above the planes flight altitude or do some high altitude high speed flying they actually need to show how much skill or tech they have.

Yup, being fast alone isn't gonna help. And considering max stats like you set, Cap, a straight line would help the gunners to lead the shots. If you treat it like playing a Touhou game (dodge and weave), you're giving them a harder time to get a firing solution. So you don't just have to be fast, you have to be agile too As for missiles, oh dear... Best bet would be cutting off the engines and start turning/rolling and pop flares

The fastest high velocity bullets have a speed of 2,600 FPS (1,780 mph). Which is Mach 2.32. Only a handful of aircraft have ever gone that fast. NO aircraft can just instantly accelerate to that speed. And NO aircraft can sustain that speed for more than a few minutes (after-burner fuel consumption). So, your answer is... in the vast majority of situations... NO.
