Unequivocally the best, unbiased analysis of one of the most polarizing figures in modern sports. I remember wanting to mimic his every move (even with the ladies, lol). His fall from grace was disheartening, but to see him still above ground, operating at his best is still awe inspiring. The Answer for the eternal question, who's the greatest assassin pound for pound ever to play

At that time he WAS basketball .. even here in europe.. For kids my age he was our Jordan, our Magic, Our Dr.J ..When playing pick-up, everytime you scored you were AI, no one else mattered.. He was Basketball..

This is real content. I am a young sports fan and all I want to find is actual basketball analysis, and I haven’t found a better resource than this. You actually talk about the basketball, and the analysis is thorough but it never feels like a lecture which is such a difficult balance. Objective and detailed content feels so rare this Chanel is such a gem, and I am so glad to see your success grow; Chanels like this deserve it.

Heart over height! I remember everyone in my school wanted to be AI and emulated his crossover. He's definitely an icon and has influenced the game a lot from the cornrows, tattoos, and vocal love for hip hop. Make sure to check out the Iverson documentary on Netflix!

That line about AI being proud to be a young black man and being a trendsetter really hit the spot. I had the jersey, tried to wear similar gear, tried to ball like him, I even grew my hair out so my mom could put in cornrows (shit hurt too much). I appreciate your understanding of what it is to be black and the culture and why Allen was the way he was. Amazing content im glad I subscribed.

My ALL TIME FAVORITE!!!!! Definitely inspired me to wanna be unstoppable on the court, AI biggest fault was he didn't play a "small guy" style, he was an undersized SG and being 5'11 actually, that was his biggest issue as far as his game but he was still an awesome player regardless and inspired an entire generation, TRULY a transcendent player

Its a bit unfair to say he didnt take conditioning and weight training seriously. he never bulked up, but was consistently the best conditioned nba player, even through most of his later years. he lead the league in minutes, and considering his style of play, that certainly required a lot of fitness. i vaguely remember he ran an extremely fast mile through the later years of his career as well. i imagine being at the top of conditioning among a league of athletic freaks takes a lot of dedication.

But two, just to appreciate how perfect your execution in this edit is. Your calm, soothing voice, your painstakingly accurate analysis and your neutral position in the face of one the most alluring and brightest stars in the history of the game; all juxtaposed perfectly with some of the best Allen Iverson footage I've ever seen - Just pure amazing high quality content. Hope to see you do more deep dives on other greats from the past. Keep up the awesome work. Big love from Dubai. :)

Besides probably his alcoholism I don't see an ounce of tragedy in Iverson's story. There are so many guys like Iverson who couldn't overcome their tough early life situations and become pros - much less HUGELY marketable ones like he was. Not to mention Iverson managed to have a sustained NBA career into his 30s as a Nugget which was not spectacular but at least is more than most guys. Also, even if he came from a background like Grant Hill I don't think Iverson would have ever been anything but the kind of risk-taking dynamo that he was. The same things that made him flawed also made him great - not to mention his prime concieded with the ABLSOLUTE hardest time to be a great one on one player in the NBA (1998-2005) Knowing how many people stumble from Iverson's background its a MIRICLE he became such an iconic figure.

Why pass to crappy teammates that can't score when he gets them open when you can get a higher percentage shot even over 2 defenders? People say stuff about his work ethic and conditioning. Iverson pretty much never missed games. He carried that team to the FINALS with no secondary option. He never had a second star or even a player who could take a little bit of pressure off him on any given night. He never really got hurt. How can he be poorly conditioned and have no work ethic yet average almost 42 minutes a game for his career without injuries ESPECIALLY with his attacking, athleticism-heavy style of play? How can people say he didn't practice when he came into the NBA with a mediocre jumpshot and, after a few seasons, his pullup midrange jumper was just another unguardable tool in his arsenal? None of it makes sense to me. Does James Harden play defense? Not even a little bit. When you are expected to create every shot for yourself and your teammates every night, how can you be expected to expend serious energy on that end? At least Iverson could pester opposing ball handlers and rack up steals. Harden just idly gambles in passing lanes hoping for a steal. He gets a couple a game but gives up 20 layups a game for the ones he misses on. Iverson had 11 win shares for a team with no other options. At the start of the video, you compared him to Westbrook. Westbrook posted one of the lowest shooting percentages of his career in the 2018-2019 season with only 42% of his shots falling but he had PAUL GEORGE on his team. What if Iverson had a Paul George? A player who could score 25ppg with good efficiency and not have to dominate the ball? I bet his shooting splits would be much higher!

Allen Iverson, together with Kobe, TMac and Vince Carter formed the basketball landscape for kids my age in China. We would call them the Four Guards. The 90s and early 00s basketball were dominated by these ISO-heavy wingmen and before you knew it everyone was wearing baggy clothes and doing crossovers on the court. While Kobe undoubtedly enjoyed the most fame out of the four, it was AI who stole the hearts of millions of basketball fans over here. Standing at 6 feet and (seemingly) skinny, he was the most relatable. Few people could dunk the ball or drive by defenders on a jab step like Kobe or TMac, but everyone could endorse the tale of David vs Goliath. The Answer was one of the coolest nicknames ever given to a hooper. And I can still remember the first time I saw my friend rocking his Reebok with the pump in action. Man those were cool as hell. For us, Iverson was a true legend, a triumphant victor, and one of the freest spirits to ever grace the sport.

We need athletes like Allen. Thank God for them. Not everyone gets to be 6’8” with a massive wingspan and superior athleticism and some don’t play aau and travel all over the US with an uninterrupted career like Iverson’s was with the bowling alley. Inspiring, fierce athlete who is still afloat today. Aim for something kids. Be set apart from the crowd. Even if they hate you for it. God is good and all glory to Him, Jesus Christ! Thank you Lord for inspirations like Allen! Now we have even more like Stephen Curry and kyrie Irving.

I’VE been saying this for YEARS now Westbrook ain’t no damn A.I. Russ is like 6’3-6’4 and Waaaaaaaay out of control most of the game he allows he’s aggressiveness overtake his game A.I. Was aggressive but much more under control I used to watch games and see A.I. Constantly miss shots that were fouls first no call even with the Calls he got he should’ve gotten much more per the rules of the league Russ most times is just out of control their mentality and speed are the only Similarities with your game

This notion that “he didn’t really have to work at it” makes me uncomfortable to say the least. Yes he was blessed with physical gifts and heart but at that level all mvp level players work hard. I will say that he didn’t refine his game to what it could ideally be but a lot of that is that sort of mental armor and confidence that is need to play in front of 20,000 people and to believe in your self when you come from very little. Kobe off the court can explain to you all his deficiencies and what he should have done in certain circumstances (passes he should have made etc)but on the court there is a certain tunnel vision required to not overthink and do your job.
