Also helped him fly, When he used to dunk it or even just rebound over the 6"10-7footers it was like curry making back to back half court shots, But every other game.....

Me as well. It's absolutely unbelievable that the media has ran such a hatchet job campaign against him for 14 years and counting. Hey Coach, you said something that got me thinking. You mentioned how it was the beginning of the new "No Hand Checking Rule" when Iverson came in the NBA and how it made it harder for a single defender to guard any decent ball handler. I think it'll be huge if you did a video COMPARING the old hand checking rule VS the no hand checking rule and the effects it had on the game. If anyone out there agrees with me please add your thoughts on this idea.

The team, usually and especially at its peak, was designed around his ball-dominant offensive style , like Houston is with Harden, and often Jordan with Bulls. When the other guys are solid defenders, and “know their role”, it can be very effective. This is why he quickly faded away once he was traded to Denver.

This statement is very narrow. Look at how he was efficient when he teamed up in denver nuggets with another superstar and he already past his prime there. Iverson was a superstar who played in the wrong era. His game was made to play in this generation.
@FoxyChariot7 жыл бұрын
Prophecy95 No, he was in the right era. More short guards were around then and more coaches now would feud with him for playing hero ball.
@kassios6 жыл бұрын
I luv Iverson but he would be murdered in today's era with all the switching. It's the same reason I.Thomas can't get a big contract regardless of his regular season performance. He is a defensive liability and come playoffs good teams will capitalize on this.
@july53456 жыл бұрын
Are you joking? You would get benched for playing like AI in today NBA, all he does is ISO.
@franciscopizarro54246 жыл бұрын
Diver “he would get murdered in today’s era”? Lol by who? Isiah Thomas is 5’9 Lol that’s why he can’t play defense. Iverson wasn’t a great on ball defender but he was great at steals. He’s the same height as Chris Paul. What’s going happen .... Curry is going to post him up or something? LOL

that "practice" stuff... man u need to put there the whole interview or do not use it. it's real that nba and other people used it to kill him, but it's also real that he said that after a huge "my best friend died and i just lost this game" [and we are talking about practice?!?!]. So to me (and not only of course), that "practice" was totally another story. AI was one of the best ever
@bballbreakdown8 жыл бұрын
+andymnc it's a long interview, so... Plus it sounded to me like he wanted to talk about Larry Brown as a coach and was upset they brought up practice, not that he was upset about practice itself...
@andymnc8 жыл бұрын
yes it's really long.. about the practice stuff.. he was upset by the journalists there.. when u'll have time, listen to all of it with patience. u'll see. it's like "hey guys, i lived all of these sh**t and u r asking me about practice instead of the game?"... but maybe i am wrong either... anyway he was a super player and thanks for this video

He Coach Nick, I am deliberating whether or not I want to get into coaching, and just browsing through the internet looking at old film to gather some sort of resemblance of a "playbook". I've read some of Auerbach's books on coaching, and I'm definitely using your page as a great reference. What is your favorite style of offense to primarily run? I know you've expressed your affinity to the Triangle, but is there any former/current head coaches system in the NBA that you immediately gravitate towards besides the triangle or Pop's motion weak that you don't think gets enough love? This is really open to anyone too haha
@bballbreakdown8 жыл бұрын
+Ray Petree well, u covered them all! Also, the Warriors and Blazers offense.

As Coach Nick has talked about before, Fast Model Sports is a great resource for coaches! Check it out if you haven't! Also check out Brian McCormick's SABA short book Coach Nick interviewed him on the podcast and a video regarding his other work, Fake Fundamentals Volume 1 and 2. And while I'm at it, Coach Nick, interview him again about SABA please!

@doniamer20098 жыл бұрын
He's better than westbrook overrated ass, better mid range shooter, better finisher, better ball handler
@williamteada44378 жыл бұрын
Nah westbrook doesn't have near the ability to finish around the hoop. I grew up watching ai and he had a great jumper, could finish with either hand at will, had a much better handle and a much better cross. Ai was way better then westbrook in every way except his defense. Westbrooks strong body helps with being able to defend one on one better then ai could. Ai was so light that he couldn't move the player he was defending around so he couldn't keep them in front of him
