Hard to argue that even more so i think then MJ being the greatest. But NO ONE argues hes the best little man in nba history.... and even as small as westbrook is. still had him on 3 or 4 inches and what 100 more lbs haha im 5"11 and in highschool 185 no fat. Also helped him fly, When he used to dunk it or even just rebound over the 6"10-7footers it was like curry making back to back half court shots, But every other game.....

I fucking hate when people use the " not a game, practice" because 90% of the time they doesn't know the context. His best friend died few days earlier and lost an important game. And the journalist asked him a question about practice

Me as well. It's absolutely unbelievable that the media has ran such a hatchet job campaign against him for 14 years and counting. It forced him to act in accordance with that perception for so long when that wasn't even him. Exactly why I'm not bothered by athletes destroying the media and refusing interviews.

Hey Coach, you said something that got me thinking. You mentioned how it was the beginning of the new "No Hand Checking Rule" when Iverson came in the NBA and how it made it harder for a single defender to guard any decent ball handler. I think it'll be huge if you did a video COMPARING the old hand checking rule VS the no hand checking rule and the effects it had on the game. If anyone out there agrees with me please add your thoughts on this idea.

The team, usually and especially at its peak, was designed around his ball-dominant offensive style , like Houston is with Harden, and often Jordan with Bulls. When the other guys are solid defenders, and “know their role”, it can be very effective. This is why he quickly faded away once he was traded to Denver.

Iverson wasn't EFFICIENT??? TF. Dude used to put BLOCK stats of all things too lol. Top steals. God he was averaging a healthy amount of steals per game in addition to just general points. It's unfortunate that his teams never were successfully structured to his style of play to be more successful but Iverson was not inefficient.
@MrNB-op2lm
@MrNB-op2lm 6 жыл бұрын
This statement is very narrow. Look at how he was efficient when he teamed up in denver nuggets with another superstar and he already past his prime there. How will you be efficient in sixers when you're the center of offense and the only threat in offense in your team. Thinking wisely the opposing team will focus their defense to you.

This video actually makes me realize how much of a poor player Iverson actually was. I've become so much better at observing the game. He constantly travelled (moving his pivot foot), moved inefficiently, took horrible shots etc... I give him credit for being determined, hard-nosed and athletic. However, he couldn't hold a candle to Curry skillswise.

This is a no brainer. If you lead the league in scoring four times, multiple times led league in spg, take your team to the Finals, drop 48 on the unbeatable Lakers, win season MVP and have the sickest handles the league has ever seen, you go to the Hall. Iverson was unreal and anyone that doesn't like him, on the court specifically, doesn't get him. He was not a prima donna but instead he was tough as nails and played with more injuries than any modern player. Streak shooter? Sure, but when he got it going he was absolutely unstoppable. Him coming off a screen and winding up to shoot an elbow area three was awesome. Him going into the lane just inside the FT line getting his little fadeaway off was outstanding. He was fearless and would drive in on anyone. He probably has been knocked to the ground more than any NBA player ever and would get up and keep playing.

You touched on it, but his body control and positioning near the basket were incredible. Rick Pitino goes into some great depth in his (now old) instructional tapes, but AI always had his body between the defender and the ball. He could finish because defenders couldn't get to the ball without committing egregious fouls. Also, that poor spacing offense - whether by design or accident - seemed to cause mass confusion for rotation. The created lanes where two or three defenders could collapse, none of the defenders knew who should. If someone did collapse, the remaining defenders often seemed clueless on where they should rotate.

I've read some of Auerbach's books on coaching, and I'm definitely using your page as a great reference. What is your favorite style of offense to primarily run? I know you've expressed your affinity to the Triangle, but is there any former/current head coaches system in the NBA that you immediately gravitate towards besides the triangle or Pop's motion weak that you don't think gets enough love?
