My hat goes off to anyone who ventures on a building project in zim whilst based in the diaspora. It takes a lot of guts and well done to you guys for sharing your journey. We started building 5 years ago and our house is 90% complete and are looking forward to transitioning back to Zim.
@TheTandisLivingtheGoodLife7 ай бұрын
That’s really amazing that your house is 90% finished it’s an important piece of the relocation process pako pekusvikira you own place. Over the years we have made trips to Zimbabwe to oversee the construction of the house to make sure things were done properly. Fortunately we also have some family members who we can trust to help us when we are not in Zimbabwe.

This August i should be doing the roofing ...finally!!!! Am based in Australia... This is inspiring!...Lets do it am looking forward to settling back home in 5 - 7 years time....gradually thoough...so i am doing everything possible to make it a sustainable homestead offgrid!!!

I don't think your plan for income generation while in Zim is strong enough. It is shakey, you may want to go back to the drawing board and rethink it. Zimbabwean life is very hard, you can't come back and start looking for a job. For me, I would advise you to start looking for maybe starting your own business. Something local, you mention doing business in Europe while in Zimambawe, that will not work. Wifey, is talking about NGO jobs, I have found out that locals who never left Zim are not that friendly to people that had left. They think "vano dhadha", when "they failed in the West and want to come and shine off for us" I still love your move to go back home, but please have a more reliable plan for income generation
@TheTandisLivingtheGoodLife7 ай бұрын
Thank you for your contribution to our conversation. Our income generation plan is not solid however like I said (Mrs Tandi ) I’m going to keep my options open and one of those is a job opportunity. I’m a Youth and Community Worker so I’m someone who enjoys working with people in different areas of community development. I also see going to work as a way for me to meet other people and make friends. Why do say that doing business in Europe will not work while In Zimbabwe?. Are you saying this from your own experience?. It’s unfortunate that some locals may feel like tinovadadira asi I’m not going to let that affect me personally because it’s not my problem they think that way.
@Olisepazed7 ай бұрын
From my experience, creating income sources right there in the diaspora is the sure way to steady income. For example, if you have a house there, don't sell it. Could you rent it out? Also, Investing in the stock market and receiving dividends every month will be your saviour. Make the Zimbabwean income sources secondary. @@TheTandisLivingtheGoodLife
@Alice-fb1fm7 ай бұрын
I concur with the above writer. From what I understand, your financial strategy may not be sufficiently robust for Zimbabwe. The situation there demands a solid and comprehensive plan to ensure serviceability. Personally, I would reconsider this idea. It seems like your husband is the main advocate for this move, and I'm not convinced that you're fully prepared for it. Relocating to Zimbabwe and leaving your immediate family behind raises questions. I'd assume, especially as a mother who has given birth to them, that your children's welfare is paramount. Perhaps your husband feels a stronger pull towards Zimbabwe, but as for myself, I believe in establishing a comfortable home base while living in both worlds-spending six months there and six months in the UK. Your children are a central part of your life. Imagine if you were to fall ill; your children would need to fly out to see you. I don't mean to sound overly pessimistic, as I'm sure you've pondered these aspects, but I urge you to reconsider. Zimbabwe might not align with your perceptions, and reevaluating your financial plans, like investing with a European company for a steady income without the need to work or purchasing a house, could be beneficial. Apologies if this comes across as negative, but I hope it encourages you to rethink your plans
