This is a Motormouth couple car video answering your questions from Instagram, like: To replace my Audi Q7, a Lexus TX PHEV, Volvo XC-90 PHEV or Lincoln Aviator PHEV? Would you buy a first year Toyota Crown Signia? What car has the most memories? Best for long-term ownership, the Mazda CX50 or Toyota RAV4? How do heat pumps work and are they worth it?

Andrea proves how different men and women really are. Her favorite car was their first Porsche Cayenne, not because of the car, but because of the emotional ties to the kids when they were little. Zach was all about the vroom vroom, looks, and exhaust. It is okay to be different!!!!!!

Lol, so true! I borrowed a friend's late 60's big block 'Vette one time when he was working on my car, and the exhaust was magnificent! I'd rev the engine a few times for the kids (they loved it too) but my wife was not a fan. At all 🙂

My problem here in Tucson is exactly the opposite. When outside temps get north of 115F, the interior of a car is easily in excess of 140. Remote start with a/c is pure heaven.

I've never remote started my car every to "cool it off" and I spent months each year in Florida, Texas and Arizona. Once you get inside, roll down windows and get a breeze you clear out the hot air. 20 seconds later your AC is blasting cold air. When your car is idle and running you're getting a whopping 0 mpg 😉

I grew up in Vancouver and i used to think that remote start was such a pointless invention until i moved to Alberta and had to deal with minus 25 weather, you need the remote starter to even have a chance of driving away just from ice on the windshield and windows

Totally agree with you. The remote starter is so nice to have when you have to live thru the -30 to -40 or colder 1 to 2 week stretch we get out in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. You don't just hop in and drive after letting it run 30 seconds.

Also agree...everyone keeps saying you don't need to warm it up more than a few seconds. Haha. Try a -40 morning when the seat is hard as a rock, the door barely opens, the mirrors are frozen in their folded position, the screens are pink and polarized and the hydraulic system is so cold you can't turn the steering wheel or step on the brake. You would very soon be letting it run for 5 or 10 minutes! It is flat out dangerous NOT to warm it up!

Thanks for another episode. Great research (Andrea). A Porsche 911 can be an absolutely wonderful experience (can be/should be)… but Zack, seriously … you owned the original, iconic… BMW M6!! And that was from back when the letter ‘M’ really meant something… besides expensive to maintain. Breathtaking from every angle. A true legend. Most 911s (mine/yours) are/were somewhat ‘pedestrian’. I strongly doubt (most) that they will ever gain the warranted admiration and respect of the original M6s. But then again, maybe I’d think differently if I had to dish out the cash for those maintenance bills. So… maybe it might just be better to buy a poster (if they still exist). Never meet your heroes, they say. Thanks for the video.

Zack, engine specialists ALWAYS recommend warming up a motor. It helps extend the useful life. As you're likely aware the engine's RPM's begin at a slightly higher rate during the warm up period, and then decline when after a minute or so letting you know it's time to hit the road.

I'm glad to see the Crown Signia - I understand them not keeping the Venza around, though it's enough smaller that I think both have their place. The single biggest grip I have with the Signia, despite truly loving the design (I've owned three wagons over the years) is the lack of the Hybrid Max (HM) powertrain. Andrea and Zack - did you talk to anyone from Toyota at the show and did they say anything about this? I just want my wagon to be more sporty than the 243 hp the standard hybrid system outputs. I have a whole list of things that seem to be missing, but the 2nd most annoying thing after the HM powertrain is the lack of a HUD - come on Toyota! The Venza has one, as do a number of your other vehicles. I thought the Crown nameplate meant the best Toyota makes (before jumping over to Lexus.) Maybe there is a Platinum trim level that will be announced later which brings the HM, HUD, and some other things that it should have.

In Sweden they used to have electricity poles at parking spaces, they would somehow keep the engine warm at night so it would start in the freezing morning. Remote start is basically illegal there as you are not allowed to idle for more than 60 seconds.

For a PHEV it's actually more useful to run the engine for heat. Gasoline generates water when it's burnt and gas can also leak into oil and dilute oil. Both problems can be solved by running engine - gasoline evaporate at 140-160F and water evaporate at 212F. If you can guarantee that the gas engine never run in short burst then sure; but I doubt any of us can guarantee that - for example speed up to merge or pass on the freeway - so the better alternative is run the engine often enough to prevent damage by water and oil dilution.

Idling an engine doesn't warm transmission fluid. A vehicle has to be moving to do that. Some vehicle models have standard or optional electric windshield deicers which are often on the same circuit has exterior mirror and back window deicers. They are wonderful! A engine block heater can provide a head start in warming up an engine and providing interior heat.

Andrea/Zack - I follow your channel and trust your content implicitly. My comment is about Toyota Canada. I placed an order for a Grand Highlander Platium Max in August with a dealer in Eastern Ontario. Still no information available on the order. I was told by another customer today that they waited for over a year for a regular Highlander with a Caramel color interior. My GH order included the Espresso leather. A local Mazda dealer has a CX 90 Signature with Tan interior with a Feb delivery available. I am canceling the GH order and going for the CX.. There is absolutely no dignity left for Toyota customers. They are great engineers but customers, particularly Canadians, seem to be of absolutely no interest to them. Local dealers here have virtually no stock. Potsdam NY which os practically a village has 57 vehicles including 7 GH. What BS

I got a family of 4 currently planning on having another kid soon (4 months, 2.5 year old) and a dog that we carry around. My mazda 3 2010 is getting small and I'm looking for a SUV. Was considering the outlander phev but at the price with the cargo space I'm not sure it is a good choice... I do a small commute each day about 20 km per day total with occasional family trip. Was considering chevy traverse, honda pilot hybrid and some other in the price range 45 to 55 k CAD what would you recommend ?

As I recall you both asked the Toyota execs you were with in Japan about the future of the Venza and they said it wasn’t going anywhere (or something to that effect). I think it’s a shame that it will be gone in 2025. While the Signia looks nice, I don’t want something that big. The Venza is an amazing car with incredible fuel economy and comfort. Toyota screwed up in naming the current design a Venza since the old one was not a popular choice. The current model (21 - 23) and the old version have absolutely nothing in common other than being called a Venza.
@jsfbay1
@jsfbay1 7 ай бұрын
I think they both should stay, but I have the opposite opinion. When the new Venza was announced, I just assumed it would be the size of the 2015 (last year I think) of the previous Venza. The press was talking about how the Venza was going to slot between the RAV4 and the Highlander. When it came out, it was a total disappointment because it was obviously not what Toyota was telling the press. It's a nice vehicle and I like it, it just doesn't fill our family's needs. The Signia, on the other hand, looks to be a perfect fit. Which is why they should keep them both around.
