@ Guyana 215, Imam Al-Qarafi is reported to have said that a mufti cannot give a fatwa to someone in a different city unless he the mufti lives in that city. He has to have a deep understanding of the people, their lives and day to day activities before he can give fatwa.

I once consulted a sheikh about stocks and cryptos trading and i realized he doesnt even understand what a crypto is and yet had the courage to give a fatwa...the university cirriculum for religious studies should really change and gets updated!!

Assalamu alaykom, we need to give our children appropriate celebrations when we have our eids, we have something beautiful, and what we hope for is greater paradise. My children like the prettiness of the lights and decorations they see on people's houses, but they know it is not for us. Make eid special. =)

This is what im missing!! Living in a "western" Europe land, celebrating christmas is something what has been accepted, people tell me "society is changing". No! We need to make our Eids special and real so we actually have a holiday to enjoy. May Allah lead us to the straight path. (It isnt a religious holiday anymore over here but youknow there is xmass lights, trees etc.)

I feel that Dr. Yasir Qadhi is getting more and more confidence to think for himself (outside the box) and not just blindly follow the text of previous scholars. We need more scholars like that who are able to understand Islam in context of the modern world. Islam was meant to suit every time and place. So rules should not be applied on everyone the same way. Every situation is different. Plus, the more I learn about the life of the Companions, the more I learn how fixable and easy they were.. it's only modern Muslims who made Islam difficult, harsh, and outcast.

These previous scholars that you throw under the bus are heroes of this ummah Nowadays u hear about ottomans and salahuddin ayyubi But the scholars like imam Ahmed, imam malik and the likes prevented our 1450 year preserved religion from being corrupted by individuals that wanted to put their minds above the text. And when I say preserved, I don't only mean the quran, because there are people nowadays that interpreted the quran to suit their interests e.g. 1SIS The most important thing that is preserved and will be preserved till the day of judgment as our prophet Muhammad saws prophecieses, are those that hold on to the text, the Quran of Allah and the Sunnah of our prophet Muhammad. With the addition of the understanding of the prophet and his companions and those that came shortly after BECAUSE THEY WERE THERE TO HEAR IT FROM THE MAN HIMSELF. A man that only spoke the truth, A man that literally spoke revelation. So please don't be a modernist to the extent that you disregard our heroes, our scholars that kept this religion safe. No swords and no shield Their only armor Was knowledge.

@@yt_fuzion1364 The giants you mentioned (imam Ahmed and imam Malik) were wise enough to apply the rules of Islam according the situations of people. If you study the sunny schools of thoughts, you will see that Islam is very flexible. Example: Imam Malik said that there's no harm for men and women to sit together for a meal as long as everyone maintains respect and there's a mehram with them, for instance, a husband and his wife can have a meal with a guest. Meanwhile, imam Ahmed was surprised when he learned that imam Malik allowed that, because he (imam Ahmed) did not allow it. He said that men and women should sit separately in any gathering. However, imam Ahmed understood that life in Medina (where imam Malik lived) was different and people mostly lived in small houses, so to make life easier for them, he allowed it. But Imam Ahmad lived in Bagdad, and at that time, people in Bagdad mostly lived in luxury and had big houses, so there was no need for men and women to mix. Each of these scholars had different opinions, but both followed the Quran and sunnah. This is what I mean, it depends on people' situations.

Actually Quran told us that Jesus was born in peak or end of summer in this Ayah when Maryam was about to deliver: "And shake toward you the trunk of the palm tree; it will drop upon you ripe, fresh dates." This is only possible in summer.

@@SharpKnife523 the point being that it is not definite. you to infer the season from the ripeness of the dates. that inference is zanni. the events surrounding his (as) birth are miraculous. do you think it an easy matter for a young woman to shake a date tree so hard that the dates fall down? especially after the weakness from birth. there is enough of a qareena to suggest the ripe dates are a miracle. but its all zanni. i'm not being definite.

@@mohammedhanif6780I agree this information is zanni and we are not definite but we are presenting the arguments against a factually wrong data which is that Jesus was born on 25th December. I can count hundreds of things that Muslims believe and they are based on zanni sources and the reason is that no other source of higher degree is countering it. Regardless, these are the reasons Quran's hint towards the birth makes more sense to me: 1. Assertion that entire birth of Jesus is miraculous is not accurate. The fact that Mary was having severe childbirth pains show that that was not entirely miraculous. So the possibility of palm tree having actual ripen dates is much higher than being a miracle. 2. Allah SWT knew that Christians celebrate Jesus birthday in winter. He (SWT) has tackled every Christians' believe at a very high level without going into the details in Quran. So this might be a hint for Muslim exegetes to expound on it. 3. Allah SWT's intention is not to give a date for birthday but rather negating a prevailing concept through this Ayah. This is the same as when Quran dealt with Trinity. It just said, don't say "Three", that's it. Never explained what three. One would argue why Allah SWT did not say Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Because Allah SWT's intention is to cut the root of the argument, not giving the details. 4. Most Christians scholars agree that Winter is not his birthday. 5. According to Gospels of Matthew and Luke, Mary (AS) was traveling between places and also at the time of Jesus' birth shepherds have sent their flocks to the field while waiting in another room. According to Christian historians this is not possible in winter but rather late summer or early fall. Luke 2:7-8 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them. And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.

"‘They (your wives) are your garments and you are theirs’ says Allah in the Qur’an." Then how come a spouse forbid her/his spouse to don't look in to the cellphone, what Islamic teachings says about it! Really wanted to know . Thanks

My issue with the gift pool, is that it is random. And this reminds me of gambling. Because of this, so I dislike it. If it was a specific person choosing a gift for another, I would have less to no issue with it.

@@alhassangangu4357 - Gambling is putting in money with the hope to win something bigger, and there is an element of randomness/chance (that is my understanding). I've since thought about it, and can split it into 2 thoughts. (1) The value of the item received is determined by the person who receives it. If I receive an item that I would have never purchased for myself (like makeup), I have just lost money because I cannot do anything with that. (2) The market value of the item. (A) What if you end up receiving an item that cost more than the item you put in? If I receive something that would have cost $75, but I put in something that would have cost $20, then what? (B) What if everyone put in items of the same cost, but I bought the item on sale? Or didnt spend any money and put in a gift I never used. Allah knows best. I'm not going to judge anyone who chooses to participate in it, but it makes me uncomfortable.

@@alhassangangu4357 - That was my point, the gift isn't specifically chosen for YOU, it is just a generic gift. I said my issue was with the "gift pool", not a gift exchange. All the gifts are wrapped and placed together. Then people are randomly chosen to choose from the pile of hidden gifts. It is all random. Makeup was just the first example that came to my mind. Perhaps a better example is alcohol. What happens if the gift I have randomly chosen is alcohol? It is useless to me, so I have lost money. Or if someone has all kinds of knives at home, and they end up getting a cheap knife they will never use - they have lost money. These are just examples, please understand the idea of what I'm saying, not the examples. I've already said I do not care what others do; I do not feel comfortable with it, so I will not it do it. When there is doubt, it is better to avoid it. Elhamdulillah, I did not have any kind of necessity to do it.

Assalaam o Alaikum Yassir, I agree with you concerning NOT SAYING 'Merry Christmas'......as a reply. I do DISAGREE with you telling the Muslims to reply with using the word ' God '. To use the word God to refer to ALLAH swt is directly going against:- 1. The First Kalima which should be understood to mean as 'Absolutely None is to be worshipped except ALLAH and Muhammad is the Messenger of ALLAH.' 2. Surahtul Kafiroon - We Muslims do not Worship the deities of the Non Muslims. All these Deities are referred to as the name of 'God' And these Non Muslims DO Not WORSHIP ALLAH. 3. The Bible - Genesis 2 verse 2 God created the world in 6 days and Rested on the 7th Day. Ayah tul Kursi Chapter 2 verse 255 of the Glorious Qur'an ' .......ALLAH does not require Rest....' So we know that the one who is the author of the Bible who is God is NOT ALLAH. 4. Surah tul Ikhlaas - ALLAH CANNOT be be compared to the Creation of ALLAH. Arch Angel Gabriel is He - Male Gender The Blessed son of Mary Jesus Christ pbuh is He - Male Gender Dajjaal is He - Mqle Gender satan is He - Male Gender Then how can ALLAH swt be Male or Female in Gender. ALLAH swt has NO GENDER. So if the person is greeting to you a Greeting as 'Merry Christmas', Then simply greet them as what the Blessed Son of Mariam pbut Jesus Christ pbuh would say, which is 'Shaloam O Alaikum' = Translates into Aramaic, the language of Jesus Christ pbuh as PEACE BE UNTO YOU.........as is mentioned in many places in their Bible. The knowledgeable Christian would recognise this and CANNOT be Offended by it. This is a great tool in Dawah as it shows to the Christian that We Muslims follow Jesus Christ pbuh even more than they do. My Brother Yassir, DELETE the Word 'God' from your vocabulary when making references to ALLAH swt. If you do or any other person does they will be GUILTY of Commiting SHIRK KHABEER, which is Associating partners with ALLAH swt. Even the Blessed son of Mariam did not used this English word God that came 1000 years after his Blessed Ascension to ALLAH swt. Jesus Christ pbuh spoke Aramiac, the Sister language to Arabic and would have said 'Ila' or ALLAH.........Not God. Concern Alcohol A person needs a license to sell Alcohol which says 'Spirited Drinks'. Alcohol gets into the Blood stream of the consumer and invokes the Jinn or Jinns within them then they whisper to the user to commit such and such sin. So Brother Yassir, even the Muslim Husband has all the RIGHTS to prohibit his Christian Wife to Drink Alcohol. Even their Bible in Leviticus prohibits the Christian from consuming Alcohol. I do not know why a Muslim Man would marry a Christian woman. Christians today are Idol Worshippers and do not even recognise ALLAH swt as their creator. Concerning Pork, their Bible tells them to do not even come close to the carcasse of a pig, far more to consume its flesh. Christmas is Pagan Celecration in origin and even the so called Christians should have nothing to do with this celebration. May ALLAH swt continue to guide you concerning your efferts to teach the Muslims and keep you on Siratul mustaqeem Always.......Ameeeeeen.

Merry Christmas Two words from Merry (meaning happy or joyous) Christmas (; Christ, Mass). Mass, evening worship on December 24. This means the celebration of Christ or the worship of Christ (as in the Eid prayer) or the worship of the Messiah. Merry Christmas is said to have originated in London in 1534. It does not contain anything that is against any religion or uses any words like birth, God, Allah or Prophet. True Islam is only that which is mentioned in the Holy Quran. It is the duty of every cleric and Muslim to speak with the help of knowledge. These people's description of Merry Christmas is far from reality and truth. Thus we turn Islam into a collection of myths. Muslims are only 21% of the world's population. Islam will never progress if clerics and Muslims deviate from truth and honesty. The greeting dates back to at least 1534 in London, when it was written in a letter sent to Henry VIII's chief minister Thomas Cromwell from bishop John Fisher.

The sahabas asked the Sahabas if he can celebrate Far'ah , the prophet answered go celebrate . REported also by Imam abi shayba , with numerous chain of transmission .except that we do not do as the others do just do it for Allah only , you can have your turkey and your christmas tree if you want . The prophet authorised it , it is even reported in al - Tabarani , now the sheik forbids it , All muslim start reading , you will find more , stop following bedouin Sunnah.

Dear Yasir Qadhi you mentioned Christmas on the 25th of December is all pagan practice and the original Christians didn't not perform such activities or rituals or celebrate the day. You mention this all originates from pagan practice and linked to Christianity and Jesus. If The day is not accurate as Jesus's Birth, if the practices are made up, then why would anything be haram for this Day because its all made up. The Christian's attribute all these activities to Jesus, but none of it actually happened on the 25th December. Christians removed paganism by introducing Christianity but no activities is true by its nature for this Day, so a Muslim is in a neutral sinless position for attending parties, family gathering, gift sharing, greeting xmas msgs because the day has no validity of these ritual's rending them invalid - The only way Muslims can come to common term with this Day is the fact, some nations of people are recognising a prophet or person of Islam who came to give mankind some guidance from his Lord of Good news of doing righteous deeds. Muslims can indeed participate in all activities and spread their own awareness of Jesus as well. Also while we are on the talk about Pagan Practices - Islam has taken over so many pagan practices and made into their own but the originality of these are Paganist. I have examples - Sacrificing animals when boy or girl is born, Circulating the Kaba 7 times - dressing like budda one cloth wrapped around naked body, offering salah and bowing to God as pre islams arabs did, imitating other religions in worship for e.g the jews in prayer positions, wearing of caps like jews

Going around the Kaaba is something Abraham did (he built the Kaaba and dedicated it to God) - it's not pagan, it's monotheistic and doesn't involve worshiping anyone/anything besides God. Later on, people corrupted the monotheism that Abraham introduced and became pagans, but they kept some of the old ways (like going around the Kaaba) but they also put idols around the Kaaba. In other words, the pagans mixed idols with the pure monotheism of Abraham and did whatever they wanted to do. Then, Islam came and abolished the paganism and reintroduced the original monotheism. So the root of going around the Kaaba is from Abraham - it doesn't involve worshiping anything/anyone other than God. The Kaaba itself is a holy place and a center of direction, not an idol or deity.

The reason that we face the kabba is to have a sense of unity, ones and synchronization. Everything is done by intention by the human being and the intention is not to pray to the kabba but to god alone.
