Rouge SEAF forces as forth faction would have nice lore explanation of player numbers dropping, also if getting somewhere down the line SEAF soldier reinforcement as strategem and vehicles strategems I believe just some model reskins would be needed and easy 4th faction. As for missions it would be reverse of some of the cirrent secondaiers, estabilish and defend truth broadcast, disable artillery emplacement, destroy radar, blow up SAM. There is potential to do a lot with little elbow grease.

the fourth faction being rogue helldivers (chaosdivers?) would be a really cool way to introduce pvp edit: the twist is that there are no rogue helldivers, you are fighting other loyalists who believe you are the rogue helldivers. All eight of you are suspect of treason, this is Super Earth's way of killing two birds with one stone.

It would be interesting if a potential 4th faction was something like The Skirmishers from Xcom 2. Just imagine a group of former humans who had taken to genetically modifying themselves in order to survive in harsher environments. They could fight like the helldivers but have strange tactics and equipment, I’m thinking grapple hooks and melee attacks similar to the ripjack.

Imagine they introduce factions and you choose to be a chaos diver and your whole game is flipped. You can’t join the original war map to avoid exploitation, you’re just stuck conquering your own sectors against other players. And maybe eventually they add an invade mode where one player can invade a squads match. This could solve the PVP people want

Based ont typical archetypes, it would be: 1. Rogue Humans 2. Rogue Variants of Existing Enemies 3. Unexplained Demonic Incursion 4. Out of Galaxy Threat 5. Consumer Enemy (E.g., Flood) I once heard the phrase "humans of all classifications" from the Shipmaster: I kinda suspect that could include elves, ogryns, dwarves etc.

So let me get this straight, though, in terms of there being this fourth faction whether true or not, if they are not part of superearth then that means they are always a threat, so for all we could know this supposed fourth faction (if real) could be minding their own business/posing no threat and we could be ordered to attack and destroy their locations because they're not part of superearth.
