good tip, but this is often more natural. Quite hard to feign liking something when deep down you know you won't enjoy life working there.

Heavily depends. If you feel the interviewers like your vibe, then acting more confident in the position is fine. If the interviewers seem disinterested or annoyed, then acting like the position is already yours is only going to eliminate you from the roster overall.

I had an interview today and I asked the “hesitancy for hiring me” question. He started giggling. Not sure why, but I think it was cause the interview went really well 😂 He laughed and said “No, if anything you got the job.” He giggled some more and said “I’m gonna use that in my next interview.” I was confused as to what was so funny because he didn’t stop giggling 😂 I got the job though!

Because I didn't want to scare my interviewers, I ended up rephrasing the "hesitancy" question to "based on what we've discussed I would like some feedback, is there any area that you would like me to elaborate more on, perhaps give an example of a skillset we havent discussed?" Because I understand the purpose of my question is to literally have feedback, as well as fight for the job incase they have an area they are hesitant about. At both first and second interview the interviewers were eager to tell me I've answered all questions perfectly, and I got the job offer the next morning. :)

I asked the tough question at my interview for a job that’s out of my league. I knew I wouldn’t get the job when applying but thought I won’t lose anything by applying if anything I will gain experience. I made it to the second round interview with the director of the department, at the end of the interview I asked the tough question, and she said that she was glad that I asked, and was very honest with me about how she thinks I don’t have enough experience for the position. She was very informative in what I should be doing to gain experience and which direction I should look into for a job that fits me better now. And she was encouraging, told me even though I wouldn’t be selected for the role I applied, she’d keep me in mind when something matches me pops up, she gave me her contact info and even offered to mentor me. I am beyond grateful for this experience. Although it sucks to not get the job, I gained something very valuable. And I really appreciate your advice, this question is excellent and I will definitely be using it at my next interview. Thank you!

@@istandaloneroronoazoro5188 Not sure I understand what you mean by this because you may not typically know if their answer was a lie or not. This immensely helped me! I had an interview today and they asked if I had any questions. Had I not pre-written them down I would have tanked. My 4 questions led to a twenty-five minute discussion. The fourth being the challenging one you mentioned. I felt like such a boss. They appeared stunned when I asked them. But actually the main interviewer said at first he was nervous about my "young age" but he intrigued by my accomplishments and feels like they can help me grow. And another interviewer said that despite me not knowing the specific software they use she was confident I'd pick it up. She told me her story of how she got hired after being a stay at home mom and that it was challenging but possible to learn. One hour after my interview I got hired and will have to move in a few weeks.❣️thank you

Thank you for the great advice! At the end of my interview, I used the question, "What hesitation might you have about hiring me?". I think they were pretty surprised, but they said they didn't have any. The next day, they offered me the job. After about six months of rejections and no-responses, I'm thrilled. It feels so good to be working again. I just completed my first week at my new job and on Friday I brought donuts in for everyone, which they LOVED - another wonderful idea you shared! I asked about that element of hesitancy during a telephonic interview. The interviewer paused for a couple of seconds and then really liked and appreciated the question. This kinda left her thinking about the whole interview. She said 'it's a very good question to end your interview on which has never been asked'. I believed this projected a more confident image of myself over the interviewer.

I have asked your 'tough question' at the end of my two most recent interviews. The first time, a concern was raised, and I addressed the concern with a skill I possessed that I hadn't mentioned previously in the interview. I got that job. The next time, I asked it, and the entire panel of interviewers looked at me like, "Damn, that's some balls there to ask that!" and no one had a concern... I got that job to. It needs to be phrased politely and professionally, with a conversational tone (again not crossing that fine line into arrogance).

I wanted to come back to this video to say that the hesitancy question got me hired! I initially watched this video in December. That question stopped a CEO in her tracks. When I tell you she was shocked, that’s an understatement. I told a friend seeking employment to ask the question because they had many failed interviews. They received feedback during the interview and were able to clear up the hesitancy and also got hired!! Thank you for the beneficial information.

Hi Cassandra! I had my 2nd interview with Wells Fargo yesterday and believe it went in my favor. I came dressed in a suit and tie with my briefcase. Not too overboard but just right for the type of setting. I was promptly greeted by the branch manager who I'll call Jane and the manager from another branch named John who would be sitting down for the interview too. Next, we proceeded to go into the back office where I took your advice to wait to sit until my interviewer sat or gestured for me to do so. They explained that they will be asking some standard questions related to my past history (i,e. what would you do scenarios, how did you apply critical thinking on the job, how did I turn a bad experience around for the better, etc). Let me say with all honesty that as John and Jane were writing my responses I caught them exchanging wide smiles as they compared notes and nodded together in acknowledgment. Finally, It came time for the "Do you have any questions for us?" part which I must say your videos really helped me prepare for. The first question I asked was "What is a typical work week like for tellers? John and Jane told me more about the position which really confirmed and strengthened my desire to work for your company. The second question I asked had a direct focus on my interest in sales goals, to which I was told that while it was an excellent one to ask, WF has cut back on the sales goals most banks do. And Finally............THE MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION "Well after everything we've discussed today, is there anything leaving you with any hesitation on hiring me for the position?" Silence...... Pins Dropped..... Crickets..... Just when I thought I had blown it, John and Jane both looked at each other and then to me before saying in unison. "Absolutely Not! I would like to hire you right here, however, we have other applications to go through." As we wrapped up the interview and said our goodbye pleasantries, Jane walked me into the lobby and provided me her business card and stated "Michael, I just have a good feeling you'll be getting good news via email within the next week. Needless to say, I think I did very well in my interview. They even mentioned how they were pleasantly surprised that I came well dressed, prepared, and welcomed feedback. Also, they stated that they have always wanted applicants to ask that question but it never happened and thanked me for asking it because it shows my commitment to work ethic. While I am not celebrating yet, I just wanted to post here and say a big THANK YOU for all the help your videos gave me during the last couple of weeks. Sincerely, Mike PS- Follow-up Thank You emails to the interviewers were sent as soon as I got home :)

@@OfficialTouch01 If I remember correctly, I replied with something along the lines of "I know as well as you do that there's a lack of experience there in terms of the position and title, but what I lack in career experience I have personal experience that others may not have." I decided to highlight what I COULD bring to the table but was honest about the deficit (because lying obviously wouldn't have been the wise move). If you made it that far in the interview based on the resume, then they already know what professional experience you have or don't have. For what it's worth, I only made it a week at that job; it was a bait and switch for a telemarketing position not a collegiate enrollment advisor.

Hi, Cass. So about a month ago I had my first ever invitation to an interview with a company. I have never done the whole job search thing before and I managed to get through the initial hoops, but I knew nothing about the types of questions they'd ask, basically no ideas. So I came to KZbin and watched a bunch of interview videos and then stumbled across this particular video. When I heard the hard question I was like "heck no" I'm not doing that. But then I scrolled through the comments and it gave me courage, so I also watched a bunch of your other videos, practiced smiling, lots of memorising my answers which I forgot some of, leading to me winging it, but by the time I met with the interviewers, although I was nervous, I covered it up with a smile, always had a smile, and the interviewer actually commented on the fact that I smiled a lot. At the end I asked the hard question and she said that it had been like 3 years since someone had asked that and said no, and the fact that she loved my candor. I moved on to the next interview stage and since the question worked so well the first time I asked it in the second interview as well. He and I where laughing by the end and I got a third interview but didn't ask the question on that one though. I GOT THE JOB. I start Monday. It's a huge dream come true with amazing benefits. Thank you, Cass.

The interviews were quiet for a few seconds then laughed, they said they didn't see any reason why they shouldn't hire me. Few hours later, I got a congratulatory email. A good question yet tricky since it depends on exactly how you phrase it and the tone (and maybe the hiring process e.g if the process has 4 interviews, I don't think you can ask the same question in all the 4 stages) Keep up the good work Cass!!!

@@IHMyself if it makes you feel any better I did get the job. But I think that's more because I was the most qualified. It could have been poorly received also because it's a ministry which is a very light hearted environment. It's not dog eat dog and interviewing is all about being in a safe space.

@@Faiththatheals Oh, well congrats then! That does make me feel better, and I also asked my dad if he thinks it would be okay for me to ask it, and he said "sure, go for it". I have my first ever interview tomorrow, and it's also in English, which is not my native language, so I'm quite terrified, haha (and it's also a video interview)...

Just had a phone interview for a corporate sales position, and asked the "hard question" and got a fantastic response. What I was told was "You did a rockstar job selling yourself, we feel no hesitancy, but we are continuing our marathon of interviews". Also received a second comment from the second person interviewing me, saying what an excellent question. My fingers are crossed, hoping for the best. Your videos have helped so much, I hardly even felt nervous before my interview thanks to how prepared I felt. Liked & subscribed.

I watched this video 20 minutes before my interview to try and help my anxiety! I always draw a blank at the end and have no questions to ask so even though I was very nervous I asked the big “hesitancy” question! And I’m glad I did because they were shocked I asked and happy I did! I’m pretty sure that’s what got me the job not even ten minutes later they told me I got the job!☺️

I just went in an interview, prepared as hell. Prepared to answer the most common question and the interviewer didnt ask one. except do you have more questions lol. I sure wasnt going to answer with if he had any doubts about me after this interview xD I was so motivated and sure about myself that I was going to nail it. in stead I give myself now a 50/50 procent chance in getting this job. So sad

Hi @Cass Thompson! I hesitated to argue after hearing the cue "I need a candidate with STRONGER EXPERIENCE". I was dumbstruck!!! I wasn't prepared for this sort of scenario. I didn't ask the question but he just told me. I missed the opportunity. Now, I'm rehearsing in case I fall into the same situation again. Thank you for the tips! It helped me a lot

So i watched this video and read all of the comments of the good results they got for using the "hesitancy" question. I decided I would ask this at the end of my Interview. After I asked the manager said "That was a really good question, sounds like you did your homework". All three interviewers proceeded with answering no to the that question. Couple days have past since then and I have received the job offer!

I got the position, it seems that no one has ever asked a question to the interviewers and I was the very first person to do it 😁😁 and my supervisors told me that the Panel loved it!! I have now a week on the position and I just had to come here to tell you that I really appreciate your help! Thank you so much! 🤩🤩

I asked this for my FIRST EVER nursing interview at a hospital... I got an offer the next week! I'm not sure if this question is what got me hired but I like to think that it is ;) I formed the question differently though, I asked "what concerns or reservations do you have about me for this position?" in case anyone likes that better!

After 12 months looking for a job, getting more than 30 negative responses from recruiters, I finally got a job. after watching your videos. I asked the " Hesitancy" question. I thank God for giving you the capacity to teach others and educate us giving interview's tips. Thank you very much ❤️

Had interview today. Used these questions, they called back the same day and I have the job. Not saying that these questions are a slam dunk but you can tell when you ask a someone a question about themselves, they remember you. (That being said I had a good interview in general, but these questions were a definite bonus)

Cass, I love how you have personality and color in your questions and approach to them. A lot of videos you watch concerning interviewing are boring and follow a rigid set of rules. The questions and how you approach them will help the candidate stand out among the crowd. Thank you!

I asked the hesitancy question because I am genuinely curious what I could work on due to being so anxious during my interviews. She couldn’t even tell me one thing! She was so impressed. It made me feel a lot better on how I did during my interview and now I am being sent to the next stage of interviews. Your video has helped a lot! Thank you!

As someone who was fresh out of college, I was worried about not getting a job (especially in this pandemic and hiring freezes were rampant). I watched basically every video of yours to prepare for an interview for a position I knew I would be great at. Your tips were SUPER helpful and I enjoyed watching your videos as you gave off a good vibe. After 5 rounds of interviews (and asking the Hard Question), I am pleased to say that I got the job!!! Thank you so much, Cass! I truly learned so much in this process.
