Practicing minimalism for 3 years and still learning so much every day. I have started to ask: "Would I buy this a year from now?" and "What is the consequence if I don't buy this?". Puts things in much clearer perspective.

One good question is to ask : Where is this Item going to be in 2weeks? 2 months ? 2years? 2 Decades? etc really help to try to be mindful about the environment and makes better purchases. and no impulse buy.

how about purchases that cost less than 30 dollars? Lately I have been tempted by small or cheap things, but sometimes I regret the impulsive shop or I have realized later I really didn´t need it, and in the end those "small" purchase can summ up considerably

Excellent pieces of advice! I've become a minimalist 2years ago in many aspects except clothes. So I wasn't actually a minimalist because I was still feeding my consumption greedy beast lol. I wasn't capable to save any money, and a few months ago I bought another piece of furniture for my clothes. Soooo, I finally decided to be on a no-buy year in regard to clothes and low- buy on all other things. I am 2months in,and am doing great I am getting to know myself and understand my reasons behind my need to purchase. Keep doing the great work!!

I agree with the minimalist lifestyle, you guys are great, you have a lot of good ideas, good points. I agree with your statement... If I have to go into debt for it, I can't afford it. I don't think that applies to buying a House or a Car. Not too many people can save up for a house or a car, they have to finance it...

Theres a $40 thing I want to buy and I’m questioning if its worth the $40. I can afford it, and I think it will bring me joy because I’m buying this to comfort myself. I’m just I little torn because It’s seems expensive but I think if I didn’t purchase i would be really upset. It’s been a week and everyday I look at it online again and see if I still want it (and I always do). Should I get it?

"Alternative uses for the money?" Great reminder. I generally don't buy anything that the salesperson doesn't teach me about.

Came to this video as I was thinking on spending >+100 in online classes. Certainly they would add value but when you mention what at the alternatives and if I can wait 30 days to buy It I realized how I was going to spend that money based in marketing propaganda. I will look at alternatives and wait one month and If I still think I need to pay those 100 I will.

I am dying to know now what coffee grinder Ryan has, we have a Krups grinder that was my partner's father's from probably 25-30 years ago. it still works okay but a few months ago it started to make a sound that makes us think the motor might be going out and we are anxious about replacing it because "they don't make 'em like they used to".

Wait until you can afford it. Then buy it if you still want it and if it adds value.
