You can tell Dangelo studied the hell out of Prince. From the band members to covering the original version of The Latest Fashion. I always admired Dangelo for that . And he’s authentic. He didn’t wait until after Prince died to show love for his hero.

I have all the respect in the world for these cats because they've always stayed true to who they are and they have so much love for their craft. I have THAT MUCH MORE respect because they said a little prayer before they went out and rocked an obviously packed house. That's what's up.

what a performance! that pocket is so deep i lost my wallet in it! when they hit Ed on the one at the 8:52 mark, the dynamic range Pino is rocking to start that section is absolutely masterclass. totally drives the song along and pushed you deeper into Ed's amazing sax. WOW

Jimi did not patent the afro or even his style of dress. Jesse has been in the business for over 30 years and has earned his reputation as a funk/blues/rock guitarist. Quest and D'anjelo were influenced and inspired by Prince and Jesse worked with Prince and contributed to the famous "Minneapolis Sound". Jesse and Prince were both influenced by Jimi. That is how music is passed along. People have to stop comparing every good black guitarist to Jimi. Jesse can dress like Sponge Bob, still great.

Honest to god, D’Angelos voice is so amazing. I really wish he made more music, it’s almost a shame to see that much talent not being used on the regular. I was just thinking, it’s been as long since this Bonnaroo set as it had been between D’Angelo doing this from when they all made Voodoo. I really miss that era of music, when neo soul was in the mainstream and we got so many albums from these artists. That Soulquarians era. I’m really hoping that Kendrick and Tyler usher in a new renaissance of good, conscious hip hop similar to the voodoo, Blackstar, mama’s gun, things fall apart, etc etc era of music. It would be the perfect time for it

Goddamn, Jesse Johnson! I love how around 7:48 it turns into kind of a Morris Day jam. Though really, the whole song is very mid-80s Prince. ...regardless, I want that new D'Angelo record already! I'm about ready to choke a bitch!
