Quest love was and still is a great artist however most of the older generation didn’t like or were forced to go against the West Coast. I think if nothing else this new beef has shed a lot of light on the disconnect between old school hip hop and the public’s perception. With the exception of CTG most media outlets wanted and tried to force the public to vote Drake. When that failed they started attacking Kendrick’s songs from a different angle attempting to attach, as you said, morality to his music even though it was Kendrick who wanted to keep it music related. Just about every artist and entertainer for one reason or another come off as salty and disappointed that their take and opinion was laughed at in an attempt to sway people into saying “Drake won”. Think Gilly, Mal, 50, 97, and many others hell even QL. For once I think the people’s opinion really caught on and started a movement negating popular media’s influence…and I love it. People thought for themselves and for the first time ever you can’t force us to believe that just because you’re a rapper or outlet that your opinion trumps the people. 🤷🏾‍♂️
