The other guy isn't very articulate speaking English and he's not really qualified without a university degree and being a far left idealist that pushed for unilateral disarmament for such a long time including opposing Finland acquiring F18s in the 90s and supporting Finland joining the Ottawa treaty etc. Finland really dodged the bullet by avoiding that guy. Not that Stubb is perfect.... he was also super naïve on Russia for years and supported the visa free travel for Russians to Schengen to operate and do hybrid warfare in Europe. Finnish society is very closed. People there don't express their opinions to each other. They keep it with them so as not to be fired from their jobs, expelled from the sports club, etc. They are sure that they can sell their "own" ones. I know many such examples among their researchers. Even journalists, whose profession is to tell and write the truth, nothing but the truth, fall into disgrace because of expressing an alternative point of view. And they are forced to leave their country. By the way, there are many who prefer to move to Russia. They choose - you may be surprised - including Donbass. I know of several such examples.

Well, most American concerns now revolve around China, the mideast, and Eastern Europe. So how could Western Europe be important in this scenario? 1) By helping sanctioning China and deal with the consequences of that?; 2) By giving more money to Israel war apparatus? 3) By taking in Palestinian refugees? (it won't happen). Also, Europe is not the least available to seating with Putin and try and negotiate a cease fire in Ukraine (It would be awesome, but European leaders are out of touch).

@Decus869 күн бұрын
It's not half, even if it has fallen behind in recent years. In 2010s it was still larger. But then it depends on do you count just the EU members or more. UK was part of the EU until 2020, so the calculation was for 28 countries vs. 27 now. With UK being about the same size as France and both smaller than Germany. Europe's issue is disunity and a lack of political will. Trump's presidency may be good in that EU leaders have to do more than talk now.

@@elisabethronnqvist5527 Usually Putin speaks respectfully about every leader of every country, there's no need to use "butter" in a way as Alexander Stubb does. That's right, the world is changing, away from the hegemony of the USA and its vassals the EU, towards a multipolar world in which countries are equal again. The BRICS community has made a start and represents 55 percent of the world's population. The times of the USA and its vassal the EU are numbered. The EU itself is currently caught between two grindstones, the USA and the BRICS community, and is therefore under extreme political and economic pressure. My hope is that the EU collapses under this pressure because it has nothing to counter it. The African countries are just starting to kick out the countries that are members of the EU and are in Africa. Russia and China, on the other hand, are very welcome. Even the mood within the EU is currently extremely tense.

They have a farming mindset. If you ask Finns now where they would like to live, 99% of them will answer: on a farm. So that no one is around. Their historical ideal. There are people, the majority of them there, who will not go to rallies, let alone strike. They don't want to know what's going on, where, or how, they have their own problems, and "please don't touch us." At the referendum, the population of the five million country was not asked by their rulers about their consent to join NATO. They violated the constitution. The population remained silent.

I love the Russian meme of the Finn's, Swedes, Norwegians and Danes being a fat slightly soft guy in a chequered shirt. You know we would kick your ass, although the Polish would probably be in St Petersburg before us to be fair as I respect the Polish anger towards Russia. Look at this rationally, Russia has spent 3 years getting just 50km into Ukraine, a country you supplied the arms too. 😂

For your information, Finland's constitution does not even mention the word referendum. There's no mandatory referendums in the Finnish legislation. The way Finland joined Nato was completely legal and majority of the Finnish people wanted to join. Please stop spreading lies about Finland.

Damn, guess I am surrounded by those 1% who don't wanna live on a farm. Despite of the fact that countryside is losing people to cities rapidly, but hey
