Serious reply...they will know you are a rookie in the first few minutes. Don't worry about the fluency confusion. Just do the best you can. Most folks appreciate the genuine effort!

First...relax. Don't be so hard on yourself. The person coming in is not expecting you to be an expert! Use the signs you know and fingerspell the rest. SMILE. Your desire to be helpful is a big deal.

You’re the perfect person to ask. I live in SC. I’ve noticed that the word “sign” is now signed (2) different ways. The old way of using the “L” hand and rotating it towards your body. But now I see that it can be using all fingers like “many” is signed. So my question is, in what situation would you use each sign. Thank you for your help.

I have seen the "L" hand or, more common, your index finger rotating toward the body. To be honest, I have not seen the other one. Could be more common in your area?@@vickygreen8064
