Quick and easy Escalade Rear Air Shock Installation

2007 Cadillac Escalade ESV that uses the Z55 rear air shocks. I will use an Autel Scanner to release the air before removing them and then I will use it to re-fill them as well. This is a fairly simple job as you will see from the video. The customer purchased their own shocks, which were from Arnott.

Thanks alot for the video. I had message "service Suspension system" and i replaced the air compressor and the message disappeared. Are those struts supposed to keep the air Pressure all the time or they will inflate/deflate when needed? Because many times when I inspect them they are deflated and I am worried maybe they are leaking air and damaged the old compressor. Also side not I didn't notice a big difference with the working compressor. Thanks and it is Escalade 2007.

They should adjust as needed. They will deflate when off to keep pressure off of them according to what I read on service data

Nice work I have a 2015 Cadillac Escalade my compressor works and you can see the shocks inflating but they have oil all over and no code are on, but when I drive it it’s real bumpy what could it be.

Thank you and it sounds like the shocks are leaking oil as these have oil in them as well. Also, if it is bumpy then the oil is pretty low and only the air is cushioning the ride so it is just bouncing on the air portion. I would say it needs shocks without actually looking at it and doing a diagnosis.

You can but they will more then likely not actuate correctly.

How do you get the air out and in on the shock if you don't have the computer / scanner

I will be honest, I looked up some stuff and I have not found a way that you can do it without a scanner. Maybe someone else who may know can chime in. I looked it up for you but came up empty handed. I will try to dig a little more for you to see what I can find.

Can you do this with out a scantool?

You do not have use a scanner, it just helps to check that the shocks are working correctly. You can just install them and they will actuate on their own once you start the truck.

My auto leveling pump keeps turning on randomly, not a bunch, but on an hour trip maybe 2-3 times. I didn’t have the computer to reset, do you think that is what it is? I could use some tips on troubleshooting, thanks again for the video Btw, they are perfectly level and feel great, it’s just the pump running intermittently…

It sounds like you may need to have the computer reset on it. I have seen this happen on two of these and it turned out to be a computer reset on one and the other was due to faulty new shocks leaking air.
