Whats your thoughts on ptfe on olives. Some plumbers swear on it? Is ptfe legionaire food???
@PlumbLikeTom7 ай бұрын
I'm not a fan of PTFE on olives, I've always used paste, I guess PTFE might be better for legionella purposes, thanks for watching mate

blending valve with in two meters of outlet
@PlumbLikeTom7 ай бұрын
That is correct, the one in the video was just in the cupboard behind, it was central to the other outlets, thanks for watching 👍

So is the hot and cold connected to the blending valve which is then connected to the hot tap? Why would the hot turn off then if we isolated the cold? Cheers Tom
@rickyokrasa59127 ай бұрын
Because it would leave an uncontrolled hot supply otherwise just like he explained
@PlumbLikeTom7 ай бұрын
There is a fail safe inside the blending valve which should make it in-operable if there is no cold water, often this fails which is why they should be checked. If the filter on the cold were to ever block with scale or the cold water flow to become restricted, the water could then not mix and red hot water could then potentially leave the valve

I thought blending valves need to be as close as possible to the outlet to reduce legionella risk
@PlumbLikeTom7 ай бұрын
That is right, the one in the video was on the other side of the wall, it was in a cupboard central to the outlets. I didn't measure the pipework length from the tmv, but I would have said it was less than the 2m, it dropped down and through the wall. Thanks for the support mate 👍

Please stop using paste. You do a great job cutting out all the dead ends and dead legs then you put paste on the fittings. Defeats the purpose of cutting them out, you are just giving legionella something to eat. I work in a hospital and we are not allowed to use paste/flexible pipes or crimped fittings even if they are wras approved. Love your work

Fair points Richard, thanks for watching 👍

Complete rubbish!! Joint Paste doesn’t breed legionella, you’re talking drivel mate. I did Jobs for Scottish Water, they have the best fresh water in Europe & this myth was dispelled years ago!......It harks back to Linseed Oil based Paste, Boss White.
@PlumbLikeTom7 ай бұрын
In fairness jointing compounds have been known to help harbour legionella, I'm not an expert in the matter by a long shot but the last course I went on it was a hot topic, I think they constantly seem to change things and try to eliminate every risk, thanks for watching as always 👍
@joshcampbell40557 ай бұрын
Tom don’t listen you keep doing your thing. Anyone who don’t use paste must leave untold leaks behind and forever re attending jobs. I fitted a glowworm Saturday and didn’t use paste on the cal mag and guess what ? It leaked lol undone it and pasted it and no leaks.
@Purebeltersteve7 ай бұрын
@@joshcampbell4055its because you used a cheap mag filter. You wouldnt of got a leak with an adey filter 😂
