The way you present these with miniatures and 3D settings is really entertaining. Another great video!

Oh nice! Great to hear that you are enjoying the series! I've been striving to make the puzzle/trap videos more entertaining so that they aren't just for game masters. Really cool to hear that players are digging them too. THanks for watching, cheers!

I used this last night, and it was a lot of fun. I wanted to say thanks! It's simple, but it kept my party busy for a while. I didn't give them any hints or help after telling them the holes look to be about the size of a ball bearing. They ended up searching their inventory for solutions. Luckily, the Cleric had a bag of ball bearings buried deep and long-forgotten in his bag of holding. The Tabaxi Ranger was very impatient, so she walked through as soon as the door opened. The slippery slide at the threshold offered no save if it wasn't spotted, so down she went into a deep, dark pit. Haha! Great fun!

lol, this is awesome! I'm glad the puzzle worked well for you. I always enjoy hearing stories of how my puzzles are used in a game, so thank you for sharing yours. Now then... on 2 the next!

This is a cool idea! I had a similar idea where a key was hidden inside an empty bottle that could only be moved through a pipe by changing the water level.

Oooh, I like that idea as well, very cool. :-) Also, thank you for watching, my friend. Cheers!

👍👍 yep! Cork floats and an empty bottle floats if corked but sinks if totally empty or if full and corked. An iron key or a ball bearing might even float with enough buoyancy borrowed from bottles or corks. Might mean nothing but a key or a bearing might also be Magnetic 😄 Could definitely be useful say to sort a mix of very similar looking little balls into Heavy, Wooden, Magnetic etc. Doing this puzzle "inside out" might also work if the room itself is filling with water and the various floaty things and sinky things need to be messed with 😊 Alternatively the old "bag of sand on a rope" can be dynamic when the bag can be dunked in a bucket of water (or wine 😄), cut off/open, emptied/filled etc (their faces while Mending the sandbag after somebody hastily cuts it 😆) and, between you and me, a well heated ball bearing might burn it's own way through a thin enough rope or cloth 😏 Is there a lantern or brazier mounted nearby? Tongs? Soot around the holes? And to "Rock Paper Scissors" this thing, Glass and Cork can be Brittle, Cork and Rope can be Burned, Water and Glass can be Clear, Water and Wet Sand can Extinguish Fire, Fire can Dry Wet Sand, Wet Sand can Cool Hot Iron, you get the idea 😄! Before long the Wizards and Rogues will be melting sand with fireballs and teaching themselves Glass Blowing on the fly while the Clerics are saying "hey I think they just moved the door and these holes are just from the old hinges" 😅 Oh and does anyone mess about with electricity? Because if some water tastes particularly salty it might be for its conductivity; do you have a player who always tastes everything in the environment? Might be their time to shine 😃! Or smoulder 😆 Lots of Love and Happy Gaming 😊!

@@philurbaniak1811 The amount of thought and puzzle solving you have done here is outstanding. If you had a character in my game, you'd be taking the inspiration die right about now. And, the cork & bottle science is something that I didn't know I needed to here. There just so happens to be a cork and bottle in my next puzzle book and now, I'm off to make the necessary adjustments. lol. Cheers!

I like this for the early part of a dungeon. Next session I'm having my players break into a library, I think I'll have a book shelf to one side with a few books one if which is hollowed out and filled with the ball bearings. On the other side of the room is a writer's desk and a bunch of crumpled up sheets of paper that they can use to plug the bottom hole.

This is a fun puzzle. Although I sort of wonder how it would be opened by the owner of the wine cellar. My best guess is a special key that bends to fill the space between the two holes. I am reminded of a door that the rogue of the group decided to make more complicated than it had to be. The door leading out of a thieves den was locked. He interrupted me as I was trying to explain that there was a key hanging on the wall next to the door. He proceeded to pick the lock and I made him roll perception to see the key was right next to him. He then used slight of hand to pocket the key before anyone else noticed it.

I do like the idea of the owner having a "master key" so-to-speak. That's a good idea. Also, I love that story! Especially when they hid the key so no one would notice. lol. Thank you for sharing!

As a way to increase the difficulty: once one of the players open one of the wine bottles it gets cursed and the character must drink the wine. All of it. This creates a sort of time challenge since the cursed player have to do an incremental constitution check (DM choose the difficulty). The more the cursed player drink the drunker he gets. This could be translated into an exhaustion level or to more effect. Basically once the players leave the room they have to deal with the next challenges of the dungeon and a severely drunk character! 😂 Wanna be extra evil? The players physically stop the cursed one to drink by, for example, tying the character with a rope…however with their horror they notice that one bottle of wine is still getting emptied like an invisible man is drinking it while their friends is gulping something 😮

lol, I love it. Cursed wine is the perfect trap to add to the puzzle. I dig the idea, thank you for sharing. :-) Cheers!

For the puzzle solving answer : I think you take the bottle cord and stuff it at the bottom hole to prevent the ball from getting out. You take as many ball you can get and put it inside till you hear a click then the door open. There a small lever inside the the two hole since the ball kept on moving and it need something to lock into place. Hopefully I get it right Edit: I got it, I remember I did this puzzle a long time ago I think tomb raider or some video game that has something to do with weights and certain weight will make the door open
