Marty, I lived on my father's boat in college. I grew up on boats and I introduced my best friend in college to boating and he liked it so much that he bought a 30' Chris craft. It needed a lot of work including a new engine. The two of us installed a rebuilt Chrysler Crown engine. We had been told that we could not do it, but we did it anyway. I remember daydreaming in class in how we could get the couplings to match up and while I didn't do so well in that class, we got it together. We made a lot of memorable trips to Catalina island (yes, we are Southern California boaters) and learned so much about boating and, more importantly, about life. God bless you in what you are doing. You will find out it is the greatest thing you have ever done. Your videos are great and I feel like I am reliving my youth. Thanks so much! - Paul

Holy crap Marty, I've been following your channel for maybe half a year to a year now and I always enjoy your fishing videos because I'm an avid fisherman when its not snowy and cold up here in Boston Ma. I love to watch your boat updates too and really don't care how long they are. I watch them not to learn how to fix boats or see what it's like to have a boat but I watch because you are enjoyable to watch. A person who has so much perseverance and dedication to a boat, that some people probably wouldn't of bought, and to anything in life. You are a fantastic human being and role model that anyone can learn anything from. It's hard to find people like you. Waiting and watching your videos are never a waste of time because they are so relaxed and pleasant that I'm always looking out for them when you post. I was really excited to hear and watch those motors turn over because I, and of course you, have been waiting a while for this exact video. Marty, you deserve anything and everything that this world has to offer you, I pray to God that those damn motors run forever and you never have to touch them again. I wish you nothing but the best in your life with health and happiness to you and your beautiful dogs, which I also love, and that nothing stands in your way of doing what you want to do. Thank you for you videos and time.

Hey Marty, great job man! After so many updates, you're getting closer. Only you know what it felt like hearing and feeling those engines roar... we can only imagine your happiness... and from now on it will get better... that sensation of pleasure, excitement and success will increase when you get her out for the first time, and then again on your first big fish offshore. You deserve all that and more for all the hard work and your personality. Thanks for sharing... and congrats for the boat and the new year!!!

What a huge accomplishment. Completely understand The amount of time and effort it took to get that point. Months of work condensed into a short video. Those mounts had to be perfect to eliminate any sort of vibration that would cause premature failure. It's amazing the friends you've ran across, both knowledgeable and those that just want to help. I've been a subscriber from early on, and I'm missing the fishing videos but understand and am glad you share what you can in regards to your progress. Marty, you've made some major decisions in life and your decisions will pay off soon to continue to live your dream. I just a I lived closer so I could help you in a way I could. Blue water, dark nights on the hook and many, many priceless times are in your future. Soon.

OK, so having subscribed earlier this year (2019), I decided to go back and catch up with ealier videos, especially the Big Boat ones, and as an engineer, and having replaced an engine in my mate's fishing boat, This was what I was waiting to see! Shame there wasn't more of the technical stuff, but always good to watch Marty!

@tomharrell19548 жыл бұрын
Oh wow I wish I had known you were doing that. I could have helped. I have done it in a ski boat.? Exact same thing. I am going to add my two cents. Paint the hell out of the steel in the engine box. Use OIL BASED ENAMEL PAIN. It's wonderful to present rust. I like high gloss black. Get parts clean and paint 2-3 coats. ALSO AFTER 10, 25, 50, 100, 200 and 300 hours of operation check the alignment of the shafts. Good motor mounts can be adjusted easily with two nuts on a big bolt. Two bolts raise or lower on each side and front and back of the mounts. If you don't have this system use shims under TO raise and a chisel to take out a bit to lower. The important thing is the flanges must meet perfectly flat and in line. Use 3M 5200 under th motor mounts to act as a vibration damper for less vibration in the boat, put it under the mounts then let it sit down in the 5200 but not all the way. Let the 5200 dry to make a rubber pad under each of the mounts to decrease vibrations. Then adjust the fit of the coupler. They must be straight in line. The flanges must be within 0.003 Three thousands of perfectly flat when they come together. They also will move and change so Check them on the schedule and u will be fine. If not the motors will eat up your transmission and you get stuck replacing it. Paint keep the sea water from eating them up. My address and number is Pharmacyman@att.net. 239-810-1309 I am old and crazy but motor yachts and sail boat are toys I love. Give me a call for engendering., fabrication cutting & welding and auto/boat repair fiberglass, epoxy, gel coat repair or spray paint. I got cutting tanks, welders, And spray painted guns. FOR SPRAYING two part paint or epoxy resigns. Have all the tools to repair that stuff. Give me call on the next engine an I will come help you. No charge.
