My favorite part was when he showed what it looked like after pressure cooking.

I love how he provided the before and after of this process. Then you go look at his more recent shorts and he's using a simmer then pressure cooker method.....

@GlenC-zi4jc Жыл бұрын
Yes, if sterilized properly. Just buy the microwave bags, sterilized already. Leave in the bag and injection with 1-2ml of spores 👍

Yeah it works, a little garden gypsum wouldn't hurt

That's a quart size jar. You can tell because 1.5 cups of rice makes it less than halfway full. With a pint size jar, a single cup of rice will fill it almost all the way up.

I used brown rice for my grow and now there is a sour smell coming from the bag - read that it’s a normal smell yet couldn’t get definitive info on if it was bad or not - have you ran across this
@PaulTaradejna Жыл бұрын
Bad. Contam.

Sour smell means the bacteria haven't been destroyed and are starting to thrive. Bacteria start out as endospores which are immune to heat. Try fractional sterilization. Basically you sterilize once, killing active bacteria. Wait 24 hours, then do it again, as the remaining endospores will now have grown into heat vulnerable bacteria as well. Also reduce moisture content to a bare minimum. Too much water and the very few bacteria that may survive will thrive as well.

Or fill jars 24 hrs before pressure cooking, so the bacterial endospores germinate before sterilizing, 24hrs maximum b4 PC

It’s really hard but after 4 or 5 tries you stop playing and do it right
@MrGammyballz8 ай бұрын
What about a short precook to release endospores which are meant to be dealt with when you sterilise the finished jars?
@SantaFeMMA4 ай бұрын
Brown rice is prepped for human consumption and as such dosent have endospores .I have some friends whove had good success without even PCing the brown rice
@Mushroom4improvement3 ай бұрын
If you have any concerns, you can put the water in and not pressure cook it for 24 hours the endospores will germinate and becomes susceptible to the heat treatment. But it should be fine as long as you don’t let the jars sit
