Apple = a small but modern playground with a set of rules governing what you do. Android = a large wide open playground, which is a little rustic but has less rules and the rules that are there are needed. I like both for different reasons and own both types for different things I guess.

I feel like ios is good for people who really just don't care. They want to use some apps, text their friends etc. I am an android person but a few things apple definitely does a lot better. Imessage being one of those.Also to anyone buying an android because you like customizing, don't get a samsung. They are trying to remove root in order to make it more suitable for business use. Instead get a nexus.

I think the easiest way of putting a photo from an iPhone to a PC is, when you have plugged in the iPhone a window opens, like it would, when you have plugged in a USB stick, there you choose 'open files' (I guess) and then you can see all photos (and also save them on your PC).

I have always used to be an android user - I had various Sony Xperia phones and nexus phones , but now I have changed to an iPhone 5s. Like you said - Android has better customisability and freedom , and the specs usually appear to be better on most recent android phones compared that of a recent apple phone , however due to the vast amount of diverse android platforms and hardware running the same operating system , it's difficult to get a smooth running system as android is optimised for hundreds of different mobile devices, meaning there is a lot of bugs throughout apps on the Google play store and basic android functions alike. However, Apple only has a few phone models running its latest operating system - meaning they generally run a lot faster - without the need for huge processors and huge amounts of ram sucking up your battery life, Apple doesn't require as much power as it is more efficient in the fact that everything runs smoothly as its OS only supports a few devices so there is far less bugs. Apple phones also don't get outdated very easily when a new phone comes out on the market , for instance the difference between the iPhone 5s and 6 is really only the size of the screen and the camera - that's basically it, some say this is bad as 'all iPhones are the same' but this keeps the older iPhones on the market for much longer than that of an android phone of the same time period. You may buy a new android phone and then 6 months later a new android phone comes out with a better processor , larger ram and so on, they are very easily outdated and not worth the money in the long run ( in my opinion form personal experience). However, android phones do have ALOT of features not all of them useful but it does have more than that of an iPhone, due to the androids customisability there is a lot you can do with the device. An iPhone, however is restricted in it's customisability just like that of a Mac compared to a pc. The security on an iPhone is also higher than that of an android phone - mainly because of the iPhone's restrictions, not allowing you to download 3rd party files and such. my android phones always used to get really slow with all the junk I downloaded, my cache was always full and my ram would always be full too with all sorts of apps running in the background, making apps crash, causing my phone to randomly reset itself and forcing me to clear my cache and my ram frustratingly frequently despite having one of the highest on android phones on the market at that time. Also I think that we can all agree that iPhones and all other Apple devices look fantastic. Most android phones have a lot of plastic on them which makes them feel cheap compared to a metal bodied iPhone. This does bump up the pricing but it's worth it. The software on the iPhones also looks a lot nicer than androids software, Apples hardware is linked very well to its software and it is far more efficient at using it compared to android devices , a 1.3 ghz iPhone 5s processor will outperform a 2.3 ghz android nexus 5 processor. This brings me to the play store , the play store has a lot of useful apps - very similar to the AppStore, however the play store does contain a lot of apps the include customisability to the device itself rather, unlike the AppStore which doesn't allow customisability to the device. So Yeh I hope this helps, it may be a little bias but oh well. And windows phones suck.

For me compatibility is one of the main reasons I prefer using apple products, all the apple stuff I have works together really well. I have a Mac, iPhone, iPad, appleTv and transferring data between devices is really easy through the computer or you can enable it to download all the apps, pictures, and music you get on to all your devices automatically, which for me is most useful for music and it works for music not downloaded from iTunes as well. streaming to my tv is also easy to do with any device and you can use your phone as a remote which I think is cool. I also prefer the small range of products and operating systems because everything always works well and is in the right format. this also makes updating less problematic. Having iOS makes you hate texting people with androids because they don't have iMessage so its way slower and you can't see when the message delivered and they don't get group texts. besides that I just like the interface more and the more clean feeling, although pc and adroid have gotten a lot better. So I would say the benefits of iOS and mac OS are less the less apple things you have.

Apple have really great products, If I was in your situation with apple products it makes sense to keep it all the same. It all gets back to familiarity on when your comfortable using. I feel like a fish out of water with the Mac OS, but to an experienced person or user they will run rings around me.

TJ Maximus Takes less than 5 minutes. If you're the type of person who just uses their phone for basic stuff, you'll be best in the hands of Apple's gated ways. But if you care about customisation, you'd probably already know how to jailbreak. And it's not much different than rooting Android.
@StaticSkater
@StaticSkater 9 жыл бұрын
If you jailbreak an Apple phone you void every warranty basically your phone is dead to them not to mention its illegal and can be a hassle. Compared to a standard android that has More customization than a jailbroken iPhone
@Draftgon
@Draftgon 9 жыл бұрын
StaticSkater That is plain wrong information you're spreading here. You keep your warranty and it is not illegal. If I had to bring my phone to the apple store, I simply restored it. But then again, problems that are unrelated to the OS will be fixed by some Apple stores even when jailbroken.

iOS is good for simplicity, but it is sooo limited. I use Android myself and I love it. I'm not huge into programming, but eventually I want to learn and I find it amazing that with Android you can do so much with it with few limitations. Also another thing that should be mentioned is that with iOS you really only have a few devices that run it, while with Android there are literally hundreds of devices around the world, so the user can pick a device that suits their needs and budget.

I prefer Android. I have used both ios and Android but I think that Android gives you much more freedom in customizing your experience. You have much more options to tweak little things that make your phone look better and makes the experience just a bit more fun. Plugging a Android phone into a PC like you mentioned is much and much beter and easier to use. It will also allow you to install custom roms very easily. I'm currently using a Oneplus One which is running a rom called Cyanogenmod and it gives you the ability tot make changes to your device that you can't make using stock Android. So in my opinion Android is the clear winner.

In the most simplest form- iOS is basic and simple in terms of it's software. Using proprietary applications like iTunes and Safari give Apple to control the whole ecosystem, thus controlling the whole experience. Because of this, one could argue that iPhones are streamlined in terms of its software. Unfortunately, Apple is the only iOS device maker, Apple controls any and all iOS devices, and in doing so, control the prices of iOS devices. Android is the polar opposite in a way. With its open sourced platform, people can do whatever they damn well please. If you don't like your application icons, change them. Don't like your message bubbles? Change them. Did your phone look at you wrong? Flash Cyanogen Mod or another customized ROM onto your device. Since many smartphone manufacturers can make Androids (and create different things) that brings a whole plethora of diversity in what you can expect from an Android. Unfortunately, since every Android phone model is different from another it takes months to get software updates, unless you're running stock android on a Nexus device.

You can just plug in the iPhone and most PCs have an auto play function when I plug my iPhone in so I can import all my pictures to my PC. And as for android I don't really know too much about it but in my opinion I feel it has too much freedom with certain things but, that's just my opinion.

If you want to compare both OS on an advanced user level (not for the everyday user who just uses his phone for browsing, FB and messeging), then I think you should at least mention the benefits of an *jailbroken* iOS device, since it is a strong contender compared to Android when it comes to the freedom that many people miss in stock iOS. Not gonna lie, I'm an apple user through and through. I have OSX running on my computers / laptops and iOS on my mobile devices. The integration works so seamlessly. In the last updates (iOS 8.1 and OSX Yosemite) I can go ahead and mace a call from my mac without touching my phone and without installing any additional apps. "Hands off" is just a great feature overall. But again, I would never buy an iOS device if it wasn't for the jailbreak. And this year is probably the best year in jailbreak, there is no device out there that isn't jailbreakable. Some people can only think of pirating apps when they hear jailbreak, though. But the community that creates jailbreak tweaks on reddit alone is so huge. The level of customization (both visual and general) is almost limitless. Even the problems you mentioned about iOS are - using the right tweaks - non existend with Cydia (a kind of app store with tweaks and themes for jailbroken iOS systems).

I have owned both and I like both equally for different things. I like the universality of the Google programs available on an Android. However, I think an Apple is more for me, the reason being is because I notice about 3 more hours of battery life and I am always on the go and that's a major selling point for me. The camera is significantly better on my Samsung Galaxy S6, but I haven't gotten to check out the 6S. As a consumer, I find that Apple fits more of my basic needs, I just use my phone to download apps and music and text so an Android model really doesn't fit my individual needs. For you, just given how tech savey you are I'd suggest a good Android.

I have only recently moved from iPhone 5s to a nexus 6 and i always said id stick with apple because it seems slot easier to use but I wanted a change and if I'm honest its not hard at all to get used to, after a few days I was pretty familiar with it, only things that I miss from iOS is the auto correct, its way better than android, not that I can't spell but if I miss a letter or hit another letter by accident apple seems to pick it up and fix the mistake alot easier and having more apps crash is another thing that happens on android, but as someone who is into PC's I'm quite used to applications crashing and it doesn't bother me, apart from that really I probably prefer android

I've had android all my life until the iPhone 6. Hands down the best phone I've ever had and I've had a htc one and a nexus 5 in the past. I'd say definitely go for the iPhone especially if you have a Mac or iPad already. As an app developer I can say without a doubt the apps for iPhone are far better, simply because they are much easier to make for the iphone. So if you want a better app experience go for the iPhone. But if you really care about customising your home screen then go for an android. Also Apple have unbeatable customer care.

I'm not saying android is bad though. So i prefer IOS in the UI region but android in the customization.

I believe to appreciate iOS you must also appreciate OS X. Both are limited compared to android and windows yes, but they are both *typically* much faster than the PC and android counterparts as well as less potential for viruses. Plus the app store on both OS X and iOS has more and better apps in my opinion. If you use a mac its very simple to share files between your iOS device and computer however, you are correct in saying its difficult to do so on a PC. If you are a PC user android is likely better for you. iCloud allows you to share pretty much everything with all of your devices as long as they are apple made. I have used Macs for many years and i could never go to android as my main tablet/phone because of this. However i do have an android tablet that i use along with my iPad and i have no complaints. I really think it just depends on which computer platform you choose to use.

I prefer iOS, I have a iPhone 4 which is still working fine, apart from the new update of iOS 8 has had a slight effect on performance. The reason I chose a iPhone over a Android smartphone was that i found it to be much more responsive to other phones I tried, such as the touch text keyboard and I like the iOS operating system but I think when my contract runs out, I think I will try an Andriod as I like the idea of using it more like a computer and unlike with different types of computers, I'm limited with the different types of phones I have used so want to find out for myself which one I prefer. If you already have an iOS device, i think its best to get one with android, you know, both in everyday use and than maybe decide wich one is better or just keep both of them ... I dont know, if it is a good idea to buy a samsung phone (or tablet), they are so stuffed with bloatware that they get really slow until you root them and get rid of that stuff. The next major update is 5.0, wich is supposed to bring lots of new features and changes, we will see what that brings all in all.

iOS looks pretty but is pretty locked down. iOS has much better performance and stability even on slower hardware (as they only have to support a dozen hardware configs) and memory management is amazing on iOS as on OS X. Android is very open (I miss the customisability of it, as I'm now using an iPhone as my daily). Runs fine on newer hardware but can be bogged down on older devices (compared to iPhones). Not very efficient but have vastly improved over the years which is good because of all the thousands of hardware configs. But like with OS X and Windows, Android is less stable than iOS, and they seem to heat up more.

iPhones are restricted however with good reason. They have 98% less malware on them, they last a lot longer, and they are generally a more secure phone to have. Android has so much freedom that hacking and other security issues can take place very easily and make them unreliable.

I'm laughing at your Android benefits because it is true, I love Android, its easy, its freedom in a phone, I haven't had experience with iPhones (I dont want to) but for Android based on personal experience I wouldn't recommend Samsung purely because over time the Touchwiz UI makes the phone laggy and to stop the lag you have to wipe the phone, I would recommend the Moto G or Moto G 2nd Gen (if you haven't made up your mind already) but if you're willing to pay extra, I hear the Nexus devices (from friends) perform excellently

With regards to Android, the stock version or CyanogenMod is better than the TouchWiz and similar versions of it. Apple for me at this point really aren't worth the limitations on the phone side. Apps are pretty much equally good on each, hardware and overall OS style is personal preference of course. Even those less tech literate that I know get frustrated with the requirement to use "apple" everything to get basic functionality out of their devices. On the tablet side though, apple have basically no competition. No-one offers the level of hardware quality and Android is so far behind for tablet apps it's a foregone conclusion.

That would also depend on the ecosystem you're in. If you got your first iPod back in school and now you have a Mac and you had all the previous iPhones you prolly are closely tied to Apple ecosystem and it would be hard to switch to anything else: all your suff is just there, and iTunes most likely became your best buddy a long time ago. I was an early adopter of Google products like Gmail and stuff like that, so all my stuff is there for more that a decade already, and I am talking not only about mail. So it's only natural that when it was time to switch from vednor-embedded platform to one of the major mobile OSes I chose Google. I loved Google anyway, read lots of books on them, was totally in love with all Google did for many years. I cannot stand iTunes synchronization paradigm (got my player plugged to a new PC with empty iTunes? Whoosh!!! All files gone from the player!). I cannot stand inability to exchange any kind of files but only pictures or videos made by phone camera via ANY interface (Bluetooth for instance is plainly useless in iPhone, used only to connect accessories). I hate not having direct access to device's file system and being able to execute any kind of data there, not only types graciously allowed by Apple Almighty. And I am just not the part of the ecosystem anyway. These are the reasons why I am using Android from 2.2 and not planning to switch. Fragmentation is an issue, yes. But this is too much of a trade-off for me to be rid of the fragmentation but get all that... well... applish stuff with all kinds of ridiculous limitations instead. iPhones got better cameras though, so yaaaaay.

Only droids worth anything are ones truly running Google. One + or the nexus IMO are the only ones worth a darn. Samsung has waaaaaaaay to much bloatware.
