I have met multiples of all 3 bits shown here and I can honestly say they have made my job easier and prepping with the micro tapered bit has completely eliminated lifting of my acrylic application. I love it and she has amazing customer service.

Why wasn't this taught in nail school??? I've been doing nails for a couple of years now and I still struggle. I don't want to hurt my clients but my current technique leaves a lot of dry skin around the nail. I didn't know there was a safe, easy, FAST way to remove it.... I'm literally sitting here in tears. Thank you so much for sharing this! It's going to change the way I do nails from now on!!!!

Same here. I went to cosmetology school that focuses 99% of its education on hair, and only two hours on nails. And they stressed hand nail files and nippers. I can't stand using nippers on the cuticle; it always looks nasty and ragged no matter how careful you are with the nipping. Nippers are better suited for "nipping" free edge of fingernails and toenails as it doesn't flatten the nail out and cause splitting, imo. Almost every non-asian salon in my area insists on using nippers on the cuticle *cringe* and the Asian salons in my area don't even do any form of cuticle maintenance on the nails. My goal is to locate a course on machine/dry manicures and e-file training with certification so when I get employment at a salon I might have better leverage in using this technique.

The Nail Hub your so right, I guess it’s about money for the training school, I feel no real care there so I’ve stopped going to college or anymore training after watching these awesome nail techs here on KZbin, it’s a absolute waste of time just to get my yearly certification when all I’m doing is the same old thing every year, I’m done going for more training I’ve learnt more here on KZbin

THANK YOU so much or posting this. I do already use this. It's great and efficient for doing my prep work. Can you believe that there's actually a teacher/ nail tech on here w/ their own channel that states that the only thing you need for prep is a 150 sanding band, even for the cuticle area. Also, that forward and reverse only apply to what dominant hand you use. If your right handed, forward only, reverse for 'lefties'. This applies to doing your one nails as well as a clients, according to this person. Unreal.

This a beautiful video. Ive seen some somewhat rough work most likely being done in Russia and at the same time I could tell these could be used at a slower speed and basically used like those electric callus removers with the huge sandpaper drum thing. What I love is how clean your work is. The lack of sanitization ive seen in some videos online using these had me white knuckling watching the video. I would bear the pain of whatever sanitizer was available in whatever country i saw the videos in where here we have such luxury. If you ever watch that makeup reviewer tati, her friend caught blood poisoning from a place with what i am guessing were unsanitary cuticle tools. So she is telling people to haul their own tools and sanitize them when in reality here we have technology at its best. Keep doing the great work! im still terrified of cuticle nippers lol. i really think this is the future when you think about the fact it is dead skin we are treating here.

Tfs. On your previous video you mentioned the pink and green stone still bits. They're for polishing the skin around the fingernail and to lightly remove the shine from the nail plate. I'm going to research about how to sanitize them.

Christina Leister they aren't considered sanitizable in all places so just make sure those corundum style bits are allowed in your area. they are porous so are harder to clean but I do like them on skin

As a nail tech, do you have any recommendations for fellow nail techs who wear their natural nails? I love doing nails but find myself feeling depressed that I cannot enjoy my natural nails just because of the work I put my hands through. Right now I’m trying silk wraps, they work but I experience lifting about 4-6 days in.

What's the speed you're using? When I use the diamond ball bit I can't seem to get anything using slow to medium speed and I don't want to use high speed because I don't want to hurt my clients
@TheNailHub
@TheNailHub 7 жыл бұрын
Speed can vary a lot by machine because of differences in torque, but on my efile (Erica's MT-20) I run the ball bit at about 10,000-12,000 RPMs so it just exfoliates on the surface without tugging. The angle in which you use the bal bit is very important. If you point it downward accidentally it will push the skin down and will not remove it. You have to really come perfectly up and on to the skin you are trying to remove.

what is the difference between these bits in ceramic vs diamond, i've just found a ceramic ball bit stating it is for cuticles on a website, but it has cross cut teeth like on a regular barrel bit even though its a tiny little 2.5mm round ball head, but im thinking it would not exfoliate like a diamond bit as it has those teeth it would be more for drilling a hole to inlay gems wouldn't it? thanks
@TheNailHub
@TheNailHub 7 жыл бұрын
Baja Rosie correct. those teeth are not appropriate for skin. not sure why they refer to those ceramic bits as cuticle bits but I would never use those on cuticles. diamond bits are much gentler and exfoliate nicely

Hi Sharon, if your process is working for you I would stick with it. E-files are great tools but they are moreso for professional techs who do nails all day every day. It allows us to avoid wear and tear on our bodies by eliminating a lot of the movement we have to do with our elbows and wrists. But if you are just doing your own nails I would just stick with the process you have and save yourself the money. :)

If the cuticles are really dry and cracking, can you use a product on them before starting the bit on the cuticles ?
@TheNailHub
@TheNailHub 6 жыл бұрын
You can apply cuticle oil which helps you glide over the skin more, but usually dry cracking skin is best polished and smoothed with a dry bit and when you apply moisture after your skin will actually be able to soak it all up much better than before. Just don't work on broken skin or any kind of wounds. Moisture is key to combatting dry skin. I love balms much more than oil because they stay put.

Hi, i have a question. If anyone in the comments knows the answer? Please let me know! It would be most appreciated. My question is when starting nails like if you are let's say going into a shop to get your nails done. The procedure is the cuticle and prepping the nails correct? The reason I'm asking this is because, I'm from La Mesa San Diego and I've been getting my nails done from nail techs off and on since I was 17 and I'm 20 going on 27 now so roughly 10 years and from watching not just your video but other videos. I'm noticing that these nail technicians that supposedly went to school and did all this practice learning technique whatever you want to call it have not been doing my nails right! like when they go over my nail they have heat spots on my nail plate and I'll be telling them that it's hurting and these b****** will keep doing it! Also I asked them if the cuticles was like mandatory that you're supposed to do them because everytime I go there like, no we're not supposed to do the cuticles we just have to do the nails and prep the nail. That said we don't do the cuticles this is what these people are telling me! And it got to the point where they were charging me so much money to do a s***** job I completely stop going I haven't been to a nail tech in over 2 years now and I've been practicing and learning techniques myself to do my own nails and my family's Nails because I'm getting tired of getting ripped off by people are not even doing a good job so once again my question is I'm sorry I noticed the long text but I get super frustrated because I'm seeing what you are saying and other nail techs on KZbin that I've been following saying that everyone that I've been going to have been doing it the wrong way and it's like I don't understand how they got a job or how they were even graduated from nail school because they're not doing it the wrong way, they've been damaging my nails, and friends of mine nails for years now. Sorry I know this is a very long post please bear with me it's very important and whoever can answer this its most appreciate it. So they're supposed to do the cuticles then the nail prep or are they supposed to it at the same time basically it's mandatory right because it doesn't make any sense for them not to do the cuticles and just do the nails and not even do that right and then tell me that if I wanted my cuticles done I would have to pay an extra 7 to $10 when I'm already spending $40 hours on a full set

Hi Grace, Unfortunately what you are describing is very common. The education system for nail techs is not great and so many are left to try and learn on their own. :( If you nails burn or hurt it is not right and is damaging your nails.

Why do you keep saying hyponychium. This is the bit between your nail bed and your nail and not on top of your nail

Good video, but it sucks that you did not provide information to get the ball bit, so I am giving this a thumbs down

That's because this video is old and it doesn't exist anymore. There are similar ones on the market.

Tfs. On your previous video you mentioned the pink and green stone still bits. They're for polishing the skin around the fingernail and to lightly remove the shine from the nail plate. I'm going to research about how to sanitize them.
