Great tutorial Liz. Very well explained and demonstrated. I didn't know the inhibition layer would cure when another gel layer was applied. This was perfect. Now I won't feel the need to cleanse the nail between each layer👍🙂💅. Thanks for sharing😀👏

Thank you so much for producing this video about curing gel nail polish. I just recently purchased my first set of gel nail polish, lamp and uv protective gloves. I tried my new gel polish but hadn't yet received my base or top coat gel nail polish yet. Being that I couldn't wait I just had to try it on my nails to see how pretty they were. I didn't really realize that the base and top coats were so important. My uv lamp timed finished but my nails were of course tacky-sticky. I tried the plastic wrap trick. And, wola! It actually worked. So, thank you so much. Great, tutorial. Thank you, Tricia Rapstine

Thank you for your explanation. For the longest time I thought it was like painting oil paint. With oil paint, you have to make sure the under layer is dry before adding the new layer or else the wet layer would trap all the moisture causing it to crack. The way you explained it made so much sense. I was putting my nail under the lamp for like 5 minutes and was wondering if I need a new lamp.

You shouldn't wipe with alcohol until after the clear top coat. These inhibition layers help the next layer you apply adhere. If you wipe the color layer, you are likely removing some of the pigments that are mixed in to the gel.

Hey Liz, thank you for all of your videos, I really learned a lot from you. I'm not a professional nail tech, I dedicated to do my own nails after my nail lady canceled my appointment 2 days before my winter vacation trip to Poland, I figured that I'm a fast learner and I've seen her do my nails 10 times, so I can do it on my own. I remember what she was doing, so I googled what you need to do nails and I bought it all and without learning any more about it I did my own nails before the trip. The nails weren't perfect but they where OK for the first time. Then I found all the nail techs on KZbin that where so informative like Suzie, Celina and Jessica nails, that helped a lot, but it wasn't until I found your Fundamental nail playlist that I really start to understand the nail process more. I've watched all of your fundamental nail videos and my nails are lasting a lot longer now. I mix my own cleanser like you suggested (only the highest alcohol % I could find in my county was 70%, not 90%, but I keep on looking). My nails look almost perfect thanks to your videos, the only problem I'm having now is that sometimes some of the nails are lifting (not long after I finish the set) I'm starting to think it is because I don't clean (prep) enough the nail before I put product on, I'm afraid to file to much so that I don't damage the nail bed... What do you think? How do you know you are filling off the dead cuticle and the natural shine and not the actual nail?
@patriciagallacher67415 жыл бұрын
That's e question l keep asking too,now l just go around the cuticle with a cuticle pusher and scrape all the cuticle off the nail then use a e file cuticle bit but never use any pressure doing this. Rubbing your nails with acetone can also help as it can show up the imperfections of the nail and what needs to be removed.
@Sofia-ge5wu Жыл бұрын
Lifting could also be due to the layers of base coat, builder, polish etc are too thick. Use thin layers and see if that helps. Also prep is key. Make sure you clean cuticle area well and don't let any of the layers of polish etc touch the skin. Hope this helps

Okay... so I have a question about the adhesive layer! I have a no cleanse top coat from IBD gel . I use only IBD products and I make my own nails. It's bonder, base coat, hard gel, led polish, top coat. it's been, what, about 3 years that I use those products and of course I haven't finished them. I see that my no cleanse top coat has issues... by that I mean it is sticky when cured the standard time I always cured it, which is about 30 seconds under an LED lamp. I have a LED lamp, new, which works just fine... any ideas why is this happening? and how can I test it or fix it or something? thanks 😊

Thanks for this video. That's so helpful! I put a polygel overlay on over my natural nails for the first time yesterday. It came out GREAT! But I skipped topcoat b/c my goal is to have the polygel as structure for my weak nails as a base for regular polish. But I have a couple questions: 1) should I have used gel topcoat first? Would that be better before using regular nail polish? 2) Can I put a new layer of polygel on this layer of polygel even though I already removed the sticky layer? 3) Or, do I need to put a new layer of base on the current polygel first? Thanks so much!!!!
@IsilwenTelemna3 жыл бұрын
I love that you explain the process so clearly! But I have a doubt, what if the sticky layers of the colour gel polish have pigment in the residue? I mean, if you use a clear top coat, the brush is gonna get pigment on and you'll end up with a dirty top coat. What to do then?
@briannab47703 жыл бұрын
This is exactly what I asked! This is why I wipe on the final color coat before top coat. I honestly feel like the wet product would contaminate the brush.

Very interesting Liz... I am understanding gel formulas a lot better now! Thank you for this clear explanation & demonstration! I have been doing my own gel mani’s for a couple months and I am obsessed. I am not fond of the LED/UV lamp but it’s not like I use it everyday or weekly. My last manicure I had on was a polygel overlay with gel polish for color. My goodness those lasted for 4WKS! After removing I applied regular gel polish and after the whole manicure (base, 3 thin layers, curing in between 30 sec) - I applied my no wipe top coat- and there was still that sticky inhibition layer!! I was freaking out because it’s a no wipe... so I was like what the heck 🤨🧐 so I moved on to my other hand and it did the same thing... so I kept curing and after curing for 2 MIN the sticky layer went away..... so now watching this video a week later, there must have been oxygen on my nail plate and now that I think back I did not truly prep my nails either.. I just pushed my cuticles back and went straight for the base.. usually I will buff the surface a little to remove shine, apply a dehydrator than apply base, I wonder if that was the problem!? 🤔😱🙄🙄 🙈😂 thank you again! Happy Thursday! 💕💕
