It's certainly that time of year for quick and easy, Gary. But, that doesn't mean it has to be plain and you proved that! This is a real pretty bowl with a myriad of uses and will make a great gift! I had fun watching you create this little beauty! And, no, I can't tell where you repaired the bark! Nice job, my friend! Happy New Year, buddy! 😊 Phil

Well, you are right. This has been a busy time. My goodness, I am watching this on Monday! I usually watch your video on Sunday. What happened? LOL Just our normal life. We were told in church yesterday that we had been married 50 years, we ate at our favorite hamburger joint with a bunch of community friends after church, then our daughter dropped by the house. I did not even see the inside of my shop until dark. LOL Oh, and both cats were mad at me for not doing all the things they expect of me every day. Happy New Year. I wish the best for you and your family in the coming year. The bowl is awesome. I think I got some of that wood for Christmas. Maybe this week I will get a chance to look at it. LOL Thanks for the fun.

I had never heard of Linden Wood before. Of course, there are other woods i am not aware that exist. That's a mighty fine looking bowl. Even though you said it was quick and simple, it still turned out very well. This is another bowl, of many, that you have turned that I like.

Thank you John. I found out that Linden is also called Bass Wood and across the pond they call it Lime Wood. Thanks for watching, Gary
@jarmstrong284314 күн бұрын
That's a new one for me. I have heard of Bass Wood since it is a popular Wood for carving. But Linden Wood never. A rose is a rose. A rose by any other name would smell as sweet" is a famous line from William Shakespeare's play "Romeo and Juliet," meaning that something's essence or value remains the same regardless of what you call it; whether Linden Wood or Bass Wood. A name doesn't change the true nature of the wood.

Very nice little bowl Gary. Another bark transplant 👍. I have turned Linden wood a few times myself. It has a nice grain pattern to it. Dad and Mom had one on their farm. It was about 40 feet tall. Some type of bugs got in it. After time went by, the bugs were in it so bad you could see the dust falling from it. Can remember Dad calling it the sawdust tree 😂. Sadly it had to be taken down. Thanks for sharing and take care friend 😊.

I thought I recognized that bark at the begining. Great job keeping the bark on. I'll have to try your bark transplant method. I used CA to mend the bark where it lifted and it seemed to blend in nicely for me. I noticed the same reaction to a scraper that I experienced. It makes a fine white powder. I tried to use some of it to hide a couple of micro-cracks, but it made them show up even more. Your way is much better, the natural look.The grain seems to hide until you hit it with sealer. Looks great Gary, as always. I can't wait to see how Linden wood looks in a segmented project. I've been researching the different ways to saw a log into boards and I'm still not sure which method would show off the grain better.

Thank you Gil, sorry I took so long to use it. I do remember you thinking I might use it for segments. But I really wanted to show off that bark. Merci beaucoup Chris L'outil est une perceuse à angle droit Dewalt que j'utilise des patins de ponçage de 2 pouces pour poncer. Merci d'avoir regardé, Gary

Please move the microphone further from your fan. It sounds like you are next to a raging river. Other than that? Great video.

Thanks Lee. I do my best to get the sound down while editing but I must have missed an area. My microhome is part of the camera and placement can be tricky. Thanks for letting me know Gary
