I love this hat, and I'm sure I can make it following your video. I'm a 70 year old, disabled, and former RN learning crochet because I needed a way to feel useful and contribute to my community. I have the "Ben Franklin" type of hair loss, and this would help prevent scalp sunburn for myself and homeless or low income people who need protection from the sun or just need something pretty to lift their spirits. Sure do love this simple bucket hat. Want to try it with the star stitch in between the top and brim. Red top white stars and blue brim. Made a solid red one and love it!

I love this hat and am going to make one tonight🥰. To get a good indication of how big I want my hat, I measure the head circumference, taking that number and dividing by 3.14 (good old Einstein Pi). This has worked out well for me. Circumference/3.14=diameter of top of head.

I like this pattern Crystal! Thank you! For summer i might try it in a natural fiber rather than acrylic though. I recently came across about 10 Caron Cotton Ripple Cakes and some other cotton blend yarn i forgot i had! That was a fun discovery! A summer bucket hat would use a small portion, lol!
