My mother lived in Japan as a child and learned to make this there. It was my favorite dish of hers.

You can throw in some ingredients at the end to tweak the flavor a bit to make it your own. I use a Tablespoon of Shoyu, Ketchup, and Katsu sauce. I know of some that use mango chutney. You can also mix mild with medium, they mix well without becoming too hot and you can find that happy place where everyone in the family can enjoy. Japanese Curry is forgiving like chili in that regard where you can mess with it a lot and it still broke-Da-mout.

Love your videos and your laid-back Maui style! 🤙🏽 I also add Fuji apples and Okinawan sweet potatoes to mine to give it some sweetness (goes especially well with the spicier curry versions for slight contrast)! 😊

I remember when I was a kid whenever my mom would make hamburger curry it would give me horrible headaches. As an adult it doesn’t do that to me anymore, but it gives two of my kids headaches, but they LOVE hamburger curry. I make mines the same exact way, except for the beautiful Maui onion. Thanks Relle! 🤙🏽

so weird, I wonder what ingredient causes the headache
@SpaceTrashCrash Жыл бұрын
@@dolcepescas6153 - Salt is the only thing I can think of, since dehydration causes headaches. Also, since they love the recipe, they're likely eating extra food with less water. If they're drinking sugary drinks, that would be bad parenting, and that also affects the hydration balance, causing headaches.
