I had this same problem. I used weed whacker string and it was difficult pushing it through. I tried .032" safety wire on a drill and used it like a plumbers snake. It worked to a point but when I had to use more that 2 feet, it wasn't as effective. Had to brainstorm.....Hmmm Then my dad came up with the idea of using a speedometer cable. Yeah, it is used to spinning and not unwinding. I didn't have one but I did have a bicycle brake cable. I used that (carefully) and it worked pretty good until I was most of the way through and it started winding up on the drill. I can tell you the water exits about the 2:00 position on the tire on the drivers side and the 11:00 position of the tire on the passengers side. Run your hand up the splash guard and you'll feel a rubber nipple. That's a good place too to put your compressed air through if you want to blow it back out instead of blowing it down towards the blockage. Just my 2 cents.....

I wasn’t happy today in my wife’s 08 town and country. The water was pouring in. I was just getting ready to start looking at it when I decided to check KZbin. Low and behold here is your great video! I watched it and the problem is solved! Thank you very much!!

I tried the weed wacker cord on our 2014 T&C and it worked like a charm. It was very helpful to know where the tube ran to look for the water coming out. Thank you.

Lance, I have a 2015 T&C and found the headliner soaked. I am not home and needed to become, "MacGyver"! I found the driver's side full and passenger side dry. I found the drain holes and first tried a pen's ink tube, no luck. Couldn't find anything long enough and was going to head to the local hardware store for a zip tie or some sort of snake when I found a long straw in my son's cup. I put it into the drain hole and blew - It worked!! Poured more water and blew again. Repeated this a few time and it seems to be running nicely. Just hope the headliner dries with no water stains. I then looked for online help and yours was right on point. Like you said, use the compressed air carefully. Thanks and have a great day. Steve O.

A straw! Brilliant. Glad it worked out! We never had any major staining, just a few darker spots, but that was fixed with a damp cloth after everything had dried.

WOW Thanks. I own a 2010 TNC and got leaks once a year for the last 3 years, uniquely while the ice coating, following an heavy freezing rain, was melting. The first two time I brought the van first to my dealer, the second year I tried a local Windshield replacement shop, without any success. I recall the dealer mentioning something about the drain, but no one offering any solution. So as it occurred again 2 days ago, I didn't know what to do. But my today's search offered me your video that is very clear, and as I now know how the drains work and where they are, I better understand the problem. When we get freezing rain in the middle of winter, the road are very dirty, and blocs of ice form just where the drain comes out. So, I'll be more careful and remove those ice block as much as possible. Thanks again

Thanks Lance so much. As others I was about to give up on it until I saw your video. Didnt know there were drain holes. Both my drain holes were stopped up with mud at the very top and real easy to clear. They both gurgled out all the water up there with a weedeater line. Could have used anything though. I cleared out all the mud and gunk along the sides so that it wouldn’t happen again soon. Thanks again, you have a new subscriber!!!

Great video, thanks! My drains were clogged in my 06 TnC and I was ready to buy a tube of silicone and be done with the whole thing forever. This was a far better solution 😂. I ran weed eater string down the drains with warm soapy water alternating between the two with slow progress. But when I went in from underneath through my wheel well, a torrent of water poured out. Again thanks!

After trying long skinny brushes, and .105 trimmer line to no avail, I went from below. Remove wheel and wheelwell liner to go up from the bottom. The drain actually exits ABOVE the wheel at the top of the fender, then running down the i side of the wheelwell cover. A drain weasel slid in there and cleaned the drain LIKE NEW!

My sunroof just started leaking today on my 2005 Chrysler Town & Country. Hopefully, it won’t be raining tomorrow so I can get my drain holes cleaned out. Right now I have 3 containers in the front of my van to catch the drips. It is leaking at both front corners and in the middle where the indentation is to open the sunroof. Thank you very much for the video!! 🥰❤️

THANKS! In heavy rain would get into headliner then rain in the car. Dealer wanted a couple hundred bucks for a new hose. You got me thinking that mine was clogged, not broken. Upon closer inspection, indeed it was. Weed eater line didn't do it for me, but some generic drain cleaner did.

Glad you got it fixed! Yeah, drain cleaner is stout stuff. I don't know that I'd try that first since it's so caustic, but it may be worth a shot if nothing else works and your next step is to visit the dealer.

Well I just bought a 2008 loaded Dodge STX for 2800. 154000 miles and seemed all good. Than it started to pour and the sun roof was leaking good. On my phone and anything eles. So I went with low air pressure in the drain hole. Success Thank you it saved the day.

We tried weed eater line but could not get it past the first bend. So, we got a can of Dust Off and some hot vinegar water. Shot the Dust Off down the holes followed by a thorough flushing with the water. The Dust Off was enough force to clear it but not enough to decouple the joints. Thanks for pointing us in the right direction.

Thanks for the compressed air trick! I used weed eater line and copper wires and just kept twisting them around and with the help of the compressed air from the air compressor it came right out. Water drains extremely fast now.. Cleaned out our drain holes no problem! My Jeep Compass Rallye had this issue and water built up and soaked the whole headliner down to the middle light and the A-pillar as it was on an angle as a storm came through. Got into my car in the morning and water poured out from my light buttons.

Yah I've got a 2005 dodge Durango, I also have been having some electrical issues, generally after a heavy rain. I just noticed just the other day it was leaking from the a central gateway area, i.e. where your garage door opener is. Long story short, I'm sure this is why have the leaks due to a clogged tube add well. Thanks a ton brother!

I will never own another sunroof equipped vehicle after what I went through! The tube in my gmc terrain was still connected and not clogged. It was the seal that went bad. After 5 yrs it decided to leak past the rubber piece that connects to the drainage tray. I had to use a zip tie to hopefully create a tight seal. Not much room to work with unless you drop the entire headliner down which I didn't do.

Tried the compressed air, tried using some heavy, but flexible solid wire, still didn't do the job. Did some extra research and found that the drain tubes are soft, corrugated thin plastic tube, similar to wire loom. This got me thinking, the metal wire wasn't working because it couldn't get around some of the bends because the tubing would flex and stretch creating a hard bend instead of a gentle curve. So, I decided to go at it from another angle, literally. I removed the A column cover and the sun visor, snaked my hand in between the headliner and roof, and found the drain tube. Followed it to the sunroof frame and disconnected it. It's only being held on by a short piece of rubber tube. Once I had it loose, I fished it back, around the airbag, and pulled it out for easier access. Then I used the same wire to work my way into the drain tube and slowly worked my way through the tube. I got about five feet before whatever it was finally cleared out. A little air through the tube and all was good. Put it all back together and just waiting to see what happens when it rains next. Gonna have to do the same thing with the passenger side and the two rear drain tubes as I know at least one of them is clogged. Regardless of all this, your information was helpful, thanks for making this video.

@@NYbasscase No experience personally, but I just asked AI: “Rear Drains: • There are two drain holes at the rear corners of the sunroof tray. • The drain tubes run down the C-pillars (the pillars near the rear window) and typically exit underneath the car or near the rear wheel wells.” Good luck!
