Also a few notes after further testing & more complex builds: 1. Getting to a max stack is simple if you place 2 Auto Pilers behind eachother. The first stacks to 2. The second stacks the 2-stacks to 2+2=4 stacks. 2. Spraying your proliferator before inserting it into the profilerator (yes....) will increase the amount of uses. Basically you can boost the proliferator itself that way. 3. Spraying on stacked items does NOT actually saves you sprays, unlike I claim in the video. I was observing what I mention in point 2, but jumped to the wrong conclusion. (there might be good reason to still stack your products though, just not for this specific reason).

One thing here with the proliferator build, you're not spraying your MK3 proliferator and it's totally worth doing. You get 60 sprays normally so 1 can buff 60 to 75 sprays, 61*60 = 3660, but 60*75 is 4500! Even more if you spray your proliferators with proliferated proliferator then you get 75*75 = 5625 sprays!
@TheDutchActuary2 жыл бұрын
That first spray works (to buff to 75 applications), but spraying on the sprayed items doesn't do anything I think?
@nekogod2 жыл бұрын
@@TheDutchActuary what I meant was use your buffed proliferator to buff more proliferator. Spraying with standard proliferator allows you to buff 60 other proliferator to 75, if you spray with buffed proliferator you can buff 75 other proliferator to 75. It's a bit nuts by that point and depending on VU etc might not be worth the hassle but I just love how it's one big self feeding cycle.

Just an important correction: SPRAYING STACKED ITEMS DOES NOT GIVE YOU FREE BUFFS. If you spray a 4-stack, it uses 4 sprays. There's nothing free. It's still more efficient in terms of space and probably build complexity, but you are absolutely NOT getting the full stack sprayed for the price of 1.

Couple things to remember, by getting 25% more product you are also getting a 25% speedup so its consuming 25% less resources and producing 25% faster for it. Also Green is far more efficent than blue IMHO, for 20% you only pay +70% energy versus 25% for +150% energy, that last 5% costs you 80% more energy!! It really doesn't seem worth it and it requires carbon nanotubes complicating an otherwise all coal build for the spray. You really shouldn't go Blue until very late game and even then I am questioning the value of +80% energy usage (think of how this cascades in terms of energy transfer warper usage, etc).

@mindgames26572 жыл бұрын
it keeps it, but you can end up with a mix if you have multiple providers and not all have the proliferator added to them.
@brohvakiindova44522 жыл бұрын
I did some quick calculations on "is it worth to spray raw materials" 1 mk3 proliferator costs 8 coal, 1.5 fire ice and 0.5 titanium (or 1.5 spiniferum) and sprays 60 items, so coal is basically the main draw here and I'm not bothering with titanium or endless fire ice: 60/8= 7.5 sprays for each piece of coal 7.5 x 1.25 = 9.375 simply put for each piece of coal you get 1.875 "free" raw material (I'm not going to calculate the case if you boost proliferator production with itself but that should cut costs of coal probably in half) to put it in perspective at 100k raw ore you need 100k/60 x8 = 13.33k coal to make it to 125k raw ore, then there is warper consumption which should be technically a tiny net + because you don't need to transport 25k free ore but the coal/fire ice/titanium instead personal conclusion: If you're at the stage to pull off this kind of stuff, you most likely have "infinite" resources (basic ones) so the 25% extra production is hardly ever worth it when you can just build more smelters you could technically use the 100% speed buff to save space but the 150% power increase means that you need to make up for the saved space with additional ray receivers or invest in fuel based power
@TheDutchActuary2 жыл бұрын
The 25% doesn't really seem worth it for low end items, I agree!

i guess it becomes worth as soon as you spray the sprayed items again for another boost, so the tiny net will become much greater
@brohvakiindova44522 жыл бұрын
@@realkorti the issue is the spraying of ore makes things a bit awkward, with plane smelters and 25% boost instead of clean 15 smelters per belt, you need 11.25 smelters per belt, which is a really annoying number to work with (yes you can just make 12 but something as basic as smelters should be "cleaner" imo) also if you spray raw ore that's going to be the largest amount of proliferator used on the stuff that gives you the least benefit you can still spray the finished ingots but I'd say start with spraying coils and chips etc.

The biggest problem with the way proliferation is implemented is that builds that are relatively small don't really benefit from the proliferators unless you put them in extra product mode (to save raw materials if you're using rare resources). If you have it it speed-up mode, you're taking up more space, producing less output, and using more power than just using a second assembler.
@TheDutchActuary2 жыл бұрын
Not sure I follow. If you use the speed-up mode, it's still producing more output right? (assuming you supply enough input of course)
@nathanaeltan46752 жыл бұрын
@@TheDutchActuary Yeah but it might be more worthwhile to just throw in another assembler rather than to use a proliferator. Using a proliferator makes the build super wide and will cost more power. Instead, if you use a second assembler, you will just extend the production line a tad bit and save some power while you're at it. I think that's what the first guy is saying.
@drakedbz2 жыл бұрын
@@TheDutchActuary If you put it in speed up mode it does produce more, correct. I'm comparing it to just having two assemblers. One assembler in speed up mode is 150%, two with no proliferator is 100%. In most small builds, adding sprayers makes the build larger than just adding a second assembler.

I havent messed with any of the new tech as I got a new pc in december and didnt have my old saves to play around with. Started a new save a few days ago and just trying to rip through the tech tree to get stuff unlocked before I try and min/max some big builds. Is it worth spraying finished products before they go into your logistics towers? It seems like it would make more sense to spray the finished products only before they go to the next operation to save on materials. I think someone kinda touched on it in the comments that it will work but all the stuff will be mismatched. I imagine as long as you clear out the tower before you start the process, everything should have the buff right? I would imagine that is the way to go so stuff is already sprayed and ready before it goes to the next logistics tower... I think that would also cut down on the complexity of the builds as you would only need 1 or 2 proliferators on the outputs over 4-6 on the inputs... Either way, this makes all of your builds that take 4 or more types of materials to a 2 tower setup which kinda sucks
@TheDutchActuary2 жыл бұрын
The game remembers which items are buffed. I prefer spraying the outgoing belts, that way you never forget to spray stuff and your initial incoming belts don't need to be sprayed.
@HuckFlynn Жыл бұрын
Great video. I don't mind them using prolifteration in general (as opposed to just having higher and higher tiers of buildings that are X, Y, Z times as efficient) but the way they implemented it with separate buildings everywhere is just lame. Feeding the proliferator spray directly into the production units and then having it consume 1 spray / unit would have been vastly better both from a build aesthetic and from convenience. I've been tempted to create a mod that does this but I don't play enough anymore to make it worthwhile.
@TheDutchActuary Жыл бұрын
Feeding it into the machines itself would actually make more sense (instead of ' magic spray ') but it is inconvenient in this game as you would need yet ANOTHER belt next to every machine, along with a sorter to pull the sprays in. The way it works now, you only need to spray each input/output belt once, instead of every single machine attached to it.
@wowtah2 жыл бұрын
ILS-es can output stacked/piled items. No need to do the piler setup on the output of the ILS. Also, there is no advantage in spraying after stacking, spray usage is the same.

Yep I noticed the stacking/spraying thing later on, as it was confused with the "buffed proliferators provide extra sprays" effect by myself and quite a few others it seems. ILS's only stack if you have the appropriate research though.

Items that are used to make something else, will not output an item that is also buffed. However, buffed items that go into storage/PLS etc will still have their buff.
@ruukinen Жыл бұрын
If you mix them it will display the lowest buffed level, so if you mix non buffed and buffed ones they will look like they aren't buffed in storage but the game keeps track so you don't lose any extra spray if you put them through a profilator since it will only use charges for items that aren't already buffed. It will output from any storage the items that are not buffed first->buffed level 1->buffed level 2-> buffed level 3.
@Gredddfe2 жыл бұрын
Because the sprayers themselves are stupidly large they don't give any space reduction in your designs... Nor do they reduce power... If you're going for speed increase you may as well just build the extra buildings and forget the sprayers. Unless you actually care about the extra products?

@@Gredddfe With +100% speed you'd need twice the amount of buildings. Just adding a Spray Coater / Piler system would definitely decrease how much room you need. But especially for smaller builds or ones with many steps (e.g. my own perfect ratio builds) this becomes... tedious.
@Gredddfe2 жыл бұрын
@@TheDutchActuary Since writing this comment I've made blue and red science designs which have sprayers at every step and just produce extra products. Because why not have a few extra products? It's not exactly game-changing but it's worth incorporating into your designs. @ruukinen Жыл бұрын
You don't save space on that particular build. But you save a lot of space in total if you spray at every step of a long chain since the extra products setting has compounding effects.
