When I was doing my Merchant Navy Training as a Deck Officer, I found the text books "boring" very flat and in black on white pages! Technically, how does a vessel not under command still be making its way through the water? Does this happen a lot? Does it mean that the captain and crew have just left the bridge and put it in autopilot?
