Quick Limit on the California Aqueduct

A quick session with the friends. Targeting Stripers on the California Aqueduct. Winter time is one of the best times to be throwing a A-rig/Umbrella rig. Little to no vegetation this time of year makes it very easy to cover a lot of water to find these stripers.

Dude you fish a lot. Your reels are all hammered from use and they ain’t the cheapest reels either and your cork grips are all discolored from gripping them. Time on the water is making you a great fisherman, plus you are smart yet humble allowing you to have an open mind to let the fish tell you what they want. Thank you for the vid so I can learn too

Excellent winter video, keep up the good work sir. You should check out replacing that main drive gear and pinion gear since you work that reel pretty hard on a lot of techniques. You'd have a rebuilt Tranx for ~$40 or less.

Easy limit right there! Just moved to Manteca from Sac and I've been venturing Tracy Aqueduct and the Delta Mendota. Beginning of the year, I caught a 25" on pile by S. Tracy Rd. Right now, Clifton Court Forbay is been hitting on Mudsuckers and Bluegill.

I think your A-rig is illegal. CA regs say "the rig can be used legally if it's modified to have no more than three hooked lures and two hookless teasers". You might want to check with a ranger or you could be facing some hefty fines. Just saying.

If its a keeper we just drag it up but if its an undersize you can walk down to the side/stairs and flip them up without them touching the cement

What exactly is sad about it? Some anglers keeping fish from the aqueduct isn’t going to dent the population with a 2 fish limit. If it would and there was a concern, DFW would make it off limits. There are hundreds of miles that are not open to the public for other reasons. And the aqueduct wasn’t built to be a fish or wildlife habitat, it’s for drinking/irrigation water. The fish just happened to get in there. Maybe I’m missing something, but it seems like one of the better places to catch and keep
