How to fish the ca aqueduct. Tips on where and how to fish

This video is a quick session to educate anyone who is going to fish the ca aqueduct. Instead of setting bait in the water. Try using these techniques to catch striped bass. Lure use in this video is a zoom fluke with a jig head and a Jerkbait. These are my tips and trick to catch striped bass in the ca aqueduct. Sorry for such a short video because i am uploading these video on an ipad instead of a computer. I had to minimize the clips to fit the space capacity.

Aqueduct all fished out in the SJV. Locals supplemented their unemployment over the covid year by keeping EVERYTHING they caught. Just use a float tube to fish along the coastal lagoons and estuaries. No fish left inland anymore

It also has to do with the nets they put over the inflow pipes out of the delta to try and protect the smelt. It stopped the bigger fish from going up the aquaduct. I fished around the Los Banos area for years. The numbers went down significantly after they covered the pipes.

You should mention that for striped bass, they pretty much end in Palmdale, CA and still scarce there. They are mostly found in Nor Cal to Bakersfield. From Palmdale to Silverwood Lake, the aqueduct is pretty dead; occasional catfish, carp, tule perch.

@@Nik-gh6gz There are massive pumps and siphons that end around Littlerock and Llano. These are serious barriers. Only small fry get past and eventually inhabit the aqueduct from Llano to Silverwood Lake. Some stripers do get by but not many. The catfish and carp fry live, geow and feed in this stretch of a micro ecosystem. Eventually they become big enough to catch. With fishing pressure and natural mortality, they become scarce. This is why you see dudes hooking up hard with big stripers in Bakersfield and Taft but almost nothing in Phelan.

A lot of places, like where I'm at there are signs that say walk in fishing only. There's an opening in the fence so you can walk right in.

It's locked for a reason. There's a big sign posted there saying no motor vehicles allowed. You will get cited by the CHP.
