If I had more time to play with this thing I probably would have had to design a gripper for sure. What would you have done with it?

If you hooked up a timed LED and set a long exposure on your camera, you could use the arm to trace out intricate, coloured patterns :D
@CalebKraftmakes3 жыл бұрын
@@chrismakesstuffCNC yes! they actually did that! it is in the tutorials area of their website

At $3K I'd have to teach it how to pickpockets to pay for itself. lol Kidding. Seriously, I'd have to put it to work through.

With the right smart attachments this unit could be incorporated into a small parts removal system. Taking apart used or damaged electronics and separating the defensive components for a part recovery project. Recycling equipment is very expensive, getting a system at a low price point to do the job would be preferable

Super cool! Every work bench should have a robotic arm. I use a complicated system of thick garden wire to hold things I'm working on in place.

like infinitely pose able helping hands! That's certainly cheaper than this thing!

3k and it cant hold dslr.. no thanks
@CalebKraftmakes3 жыл бұрын
yeah, I get that. It can hold lighter DSLRs (they show it on their website), but my rig just happens to be very heavy (canon 5d mk3 with a heavy lens)

Looks like I know where to get an extra hand for soldering. The Motors are super smooth!

haha, yeah it is pretty smooth. A tiny bit of vibration in video, but not horrible. sadly I don't get to keep it.

We Bought the First version Dorna 5 axis robot. $1500.00. Absolutely NO support from them. Or ANY outside videos on the programming, when the robot arm did not work as described. It is a longer reaching arm and one of the reason we bought it, but we had it to long and could not return it..

@@MAKE I am an automation engineer with 30+ years of experience. I have worked in manufacturing, mining and other industries. For several years I worked with a robots a lot. And there's a couple of things people need to know and people like you need to keep saying. 1) Robots are not toys. They have to be treated with respect. Even small robots like these can seriously injure people. You'd be amazed how ignorant of the dangers people are. In ended up pursuing formal qualifications in functional safety because of the dangers involved. 2) Robots should be operated BEHIND a safety barrier. Not only can robots simply crash into things they can also throw things. As robots became faster and faster they also tended to throw things more often. Small robots are the most dangerous at this because they are fast and people tend to dismiss the danger because of their size. 3) Easily the biggest misapprehension regarding robots is the *FALSE* belief that robots can see what's around them. You'd be amazed at the incredible stupidity non-engineers have said to my face regarding robots. If you guys want to do a program or series of programs on Machine Safety I'd be happy to help out.

How do I extend the arm to be 5 foot long arm???
@CalebKraftmakes3 жыл бұрын
you probably wouldn't want to do that. The length of each arm piece will nearly exponentially effect the strength required to move it smoothly. They work like levers. You'd need to seriously upgrade your motors to pull that off.

I think this company lacks the marketing know-how. They should make a bigger one and target filmmakers.
@mryipicayey3 жыл бұрын
thats awesome! , so basically if I underestood correct the easy way, for camera movements there is an option to record your own movements that you do manually ? and once you set them (moving the robot from point a to b manually ) you can choose the speed of each movement , is that correct ?
