Short but very best "Loop Core" tutorial ever. I was looking for instructions about using nmp-2 to controll it 👍 (stereo cable from A&B to 'CTRL IN', click A - next bank, double clik A - prev bank, clik B - stop, hold B - clear. From 'delux' version I miss 24bit and better percusion tracks. Recently I disasembled my loop core to clean it after small water leakage. Inside is microSD socket with Kingston 8GB card. I forgot to check what is on it in raw mode as I was in rush to clean board, and it worked. Thanks for this tutorial 😎

Is the NMP-2 footswitch passive? I mean, can it work (change presets) without being connected to power supply? Thanks!
@levih.21582 жыл бұрын
It is passive in the sense that the electrical connections that are made/unmade in the pedal by pressing the buttons can by registered by the LoopCore. It is not passive in the sense that it doesn't get any power to run anything from the Loop Core - so fx. the diodes only light up on the NMP-2 when power is connected. I've done some testing (with the setup from the video with a stereo cable in B&A input), and when not connected to power I can still change presets perfectly fine, but the B-button doesn't really work: I can't use it to stop the playback and I can't use it to tap tempo. Whenever I press B, it executes the CLEAR function, so a short press without power is interpreted as a long press with power.

Great review, hope you can answer this, Im a year late. I've read everything, your comments, replies, the manual. My question is the tap tempo. I want to record a rhythm track live with a drummer. After I save it and start playing along I'd like to be able to tap the tempo as the song is playing, in case the drummer looses his spot? So, not setting the tempo before a saved file but during. I'm assuming no but if you could be so kind to try it out? I'll keep looking for answers, I'm almost sold.

Thank you :) I don't have time to go too much into this, and I'm not sure I understand excactly what you want to do. But as far as I can figure out, you can record a loop (with or without rhythm track), save it, and then when you play it back you can tap-change the tempo with the B button - but only until you make new dubs. So you can only change tempo on a memory slot with no active, unsaved loops.

If you are referring to changing of the memory slot with the NMP-2 footswitch, then yes, what type of cable used (mono/stereo) makes a difference. Try traking a look at the manual under "Product Description -> 8. Mode Switch" (I have linked to it in the description and pinned comment). Maybe you can make something work by changing the "mode switch", which is mentioned there. Otherwise you will need to use a stereo cable.

V. useful video! I have a problem tho, when overdubbing, can the base loop be extended? For instance when I do an overdub on a 60s loop, the loop repeats after 60s with the overdub recording and starts a new overdub instead of repeating the main loop and continuing the recording of the initial overdub recording, i.e. I want the 60s loop to continue for few minutes whilst I record an overdub to create a new 3 minute loop for instance. Any ideas?
@levih.21582 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's possible - with this pedal - to make the pedal "do the work" the way you're describing it. But maybe you can accomplish the same thing by making the first loop the length that you want the second loop to be, and repeat the "underlying loop" yourself. So instead of making this kind of loop on the pedal: ||: C | Am | F | G :|| ... you make this kind of loop: ||: C | Am | F | G | | C | Am | F | G | | C | Am | F | G | | C | Am | F | G :|| And then when you start overdubbing, the overdub length will be 16 bars instead of four bars (in this instance), while the underlying "loop" is only four bars. So for your example, it would mean making a 3min recording, where you yourself repeat the 60s loop. With patience and the metronome, I don't think it's unfeasible. If you don't want to repeat the loops yourself, I think you need to either: 1) Find another loop pedal (I don't know about any unfortunately), 2) Use a computer to control the audio somehow (fx with garageband), or 3) Buy another Loop Core, and have the second Loop Core record the first Loop Cores loop however many times you want it repeated.. Does that help?
@dimavak2 жыл бұрын
@@levih.2158 Thanks Levi, that's helpful but not the answer I wanted :( I get that I could do 16 bars myself but what if I dont have an idea of the length, I might want to repeat 2 or 3 chords once and decide on the total length as I'm playing. Can you play one loop on one channel and record a new loop on another channel? I know of loopers that extend the loop and this fact may have changed my choice on this one although I do really like it esp. for what you get for the price.
@levih.21582 жыл бұрын
@@dimavak I'm not quite sure what you mean by channels here, but I just don't think it's possible with the Loop Core unfortunately. I'm not an expert though, so if you want to be certain sure, I'd recommend contacting either nux themselves (maybe from here www.nuxefx.com/company.html ) or a music shop like maybe Thomann. You mention the price, and I think that's just the thing with this pedal: it's cheap, but that also means that it just doesn't have the same level of functionality that more expensive pedals can have.

Hi, please, I need advice. Could Nux be used in this combination even as a player of imported wav files? As a backing track player for a father - saxophonist ... On a One Man show? How long would the files fit in each memory slot? Example of a 4 minute wava and how many songs in total would Nux handle in total? Control only start - stop - switch to the next song .. Thank you for the advice :-D I also thought about the Deluxe version, but Core Yellow also has an Aux In input .. It could also be useful for recording eg keys ... Another question, would the Deluxe version handle better the function of only the saved wav player? Memory, sound quality, better switching between songs? Thank you for advice :-D
@levih.21583 жыл бұрын
I have a link to the manuals in the video description. The following is based on that and my own experience: You can import a wav-file on every memory slot (so up to 99 wav-files). My guess is, that a wav file counts as the "first recording", so if you import 99 wav-files, there is no slot left to make recordings without dubbing on a wav-file. The manual doesn't say anything about wav-file length, but my guess is that it follows the same rule as recording length: 6 hours total. So if you put a 6 hours long wav track on slot 1, there is no more space for other tracks. And there is space for 3m36s pr. song if all slots are used. (If each track is 4m there is room for 90 tracks). If you only use the Loop Core (without the NMP-2 footswitch), you can start (single press) and stop (double press) on the pedal. But changing memory slot you have to press the small up/down buttons. If you also use the footswitch, you can do the same, but additionally stop by pressing (B) on the footswitch, and changing memory slots on the footswitch with (A) (press/double press). I don't really know about the delux version. I think you can do all the same things though. Someone else commented that the delux version outputs in mono, and the regular version outputs in stereo. I don't know about any other differences. If you want to record keys, the simplest way is to use the regular "In" input as you would with a guitar. Although it would be in mono then, I think. So maybe aux is the only way to input stereo, but I think it's not as simple, and for a one man band I don't think stereo is very important. Also maybe for a one man band with backing tracks it's easier and cheaper to use a phone/ipad/computer as playback device for the backing tracks.
@VladoBelo3 жыл бұрын
@@levih.2158 Thank you for the quick reply. Could it not be possible to record keys via In guitar input due to different impedance, or would this input take over without problems? The only thing that stuck in my decision-making is the above-standard Aux IN option in the Y version. And in the Delux version, it scores 24 bits again. I don't know how it would turn out when playing imported wav .. Maybe the sound would be ok. 24 bit is a lot to hear only on drums in Nux .. You wouldn't care. For the Deluxe version, the manufacturer writes 8 hours of recording. 24 bit files take up more memory.. My father would use the device one of them over a small clean combo ... or over a small PA .. Now make the right decision :-D Mono doesn't mind at all. Thank you very much for your time and willingness to advise. I wish you a Merry Christmas. PS .. a note to the above recommendation to use a PC or mobile phone as a player, yes this is a solution, but the looper could also be used for occasional playing with loops .. in addition to playing tracks as an accompaniment for one player .. so maybe I guitar, short loop and father saxophone, for family fun at home, jam :-D

@@VladoBelo I've never experienced impedans as an issue. In my experience, you can plug a keyboard in anywhere you can plug a guitar in: amps, mixers, interfaces, etc.. Maybe try unplugging all cables including power, remove the battery, and then insert the battery again and plug everything in. Or else you could try a formatting / factory reset. Although you'll probably loose your recordings doing this. To do this, you: 1. Power on the loop core while pressing down the pedal until the display shows "rd" or "rP". 2. Press and hold UP or DOWN button for 2 sec until the display shows "Fo". 3. Press the pedal once again to confirm formatting. Or, press any other buttons other than the pedal to abandon formatting.

As soon as you start overdubbing, you can't change the tempo until a new version of the recording is saved with the new overdubs. So fx.: 1. I choose an empty memory slot. 2. I set a tempo by tapping. 3. I start recording a line.
